Understated confidence is the best kind of confidence. You don't have to go around shouting about how big and bad you are. If you truly know what you can do it'll just come out. Love the fact you're encouraging this kind of character.

Thank you for that. Isn't it funny, that one of my first thought was, that you have so much in common with him.

One thing that shows you are secure and confident in yourself is being able to ask for and take advice. You don't know everything. I used to be embarrassed to show a lack of knowledge in a subject. These days I'm happy to ask.someone who knows the subject their advice or opinion. Most people like to share their knowledge and guide you. It works well in shops especially with electrical goods...I go in and say "I know nothing but want to do.. .what should I buy" 99% of the time you get great help

Context is important to understand criticism. Politely replying with "compared to what?" can help normalize an interaction by encouraging the critic to provide a frame for their assessment. If they don't respond, you can provide your own positive frame and immediately find agreement. Think about how many arguments we have about minute details when we often agree on everything else.

I had a crush on shop keeper girl in my 15s, never had the courage to talk more than "hi, bye" and to this day it eats me up inside way more than many rejections from girls.
Then half assed my military service, even tho I was physically / shooting vise better than most my group.

Style score was 509, not sure what it was out of but it didn't seem that high. However I am currently a few months to a year away from some life altering events that could change this for me so I'll definitely take it again in a while. As usual, a great video, Antonio! However, one point you mentioned has long baffled me. How is it that men can find business attire (suit and tie/coat and tie) "uncomfortable"...IF they are properly tailored? After all, the modern "business" suit has its origins as beach or resort wear and in days of yore was commonly called a "lounge suit." I wore coat and tie to the office for the last 10 years of my working career simply because I wanted and felt no less comfortable, I'm sure, than my co-workers in T-shirts and sweat shirts!

I've somehow come to the point where I now avoid conflict. I'm not good at conflict and I don't know how to go about it. I tend to fail at it and somehow accidently make others hate me. It's caused me to lose friends.
Thus I now avoid it all together if I can however I still won't back down if I am right and someone challenges me with their wrong idea.

    • @michaelknight2185
      @michaelknight2185 Před rokem

I feel you, conflict sucks, and I tend to avoid it WAAAY too much.
At some point, I just realized, people are more interested in believing what they're ego-invested in than what the truth is.
"A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still" - Dale Carnegie
I've even noticed this in myself... it's not so much the truth that's hard to swallow, it's admitting you were stupid, or ignorant, or gullible enough to be wrong.
A lot of people just see some conflicts as a form of disrespect, preferring to have others hear and respect their opinions, rather than have a discussion and come to the truth.
"Lets agree to disagree" tends to be the end result with those kinds of people... annoying.

Brush grills, heavy tires, and even the snorkles (higher air intake prevents dust and dirt from getting in) have legitimate and practical uses. Truck nuts just make me laugh, especially when folks get all upset about them. Saw someone walking around with a set of "Croc Nuts" on the backs of his Crocs this weekend.

I always enjoy the use of the word perfect when describing a human being. Since perfect is not a definable word because the definition in itself is undefined. Since the definition focuses on the semantics of faults or desirable characteristics, being that one person could find you imperfect while another person could find you perfect in any given aspect.
Also the argument of the fact that if man is born with sin and built to be an imperfect creature the irony in that statement is that then we are by definition a perfect human.

    2 comments:
    1. #9: Minimizing words. Throwing in those little words like "just" and "a little" or "maybe" in an effort to make the statement more amicable is an incredible way to minimize your impetus as a leader, and as a confident person in general.
"I just wonder if you could maybe get that to me by Thursday? I need it done a little sooner than Friday to make the deadline."
    Says the same thing as:
"I need you to get that to me by Thursday, Friday isn't soon enough to make the deadline."
Nobody is gonna be happy with a closer deadline no matter how friendly you try to make it sound; but when you try to soften the edges with minimizing words, you end up reducing yourself in the process. You don't have to be an asshole, there's still an art to directive assertion, but these little words aren't it.
    2. I have much respect for brother Antonio, have taken much of his advice in stride over the years. But fuck that looking into their eyebrows shit. When you have something to say, and some conviction behind it, you need to stare so deep into their eyes you can examine their pancreas while you're in there.
Making and holding eye contact not only shows confidence, but more importantly it *builds* confidence. The value of eye contact can not be understated, I promise you that.
