I absolutely love this kind if editing. Both the sounds (especially the piano ones) and the way you included the text and highlighting circles.
I wish we had more editing like this, I hate bugs but its so calming and lets me watch this.
I do to but one thing interesting is that the piano playing reminds me of untitled goose game
Reminds me of Mr. Roger's
Me too i love it
Do you guys have ADD or ADHD and often have trouble focusing on videos? Maybe find yourself in the comments and not watching the videos you’re “watching”?
I definitely do and it’s hard to miss the facts in this, super slow and deliberate with audio and good visual demonstrations of it all.
And there is definitely a mr. Rogers vibe, and he’s basically a hero.
The piano sounds are really helpful and nostalgic at the same time. For me it's nostalgic since it feels like one of my childhood learning shows. Helpful for my toddler that I watch this with, cause it keeps her attention
I guess everyone is different. Those piano sounds have always bothered me and distracted me from the facts when I was little. I would remember shows like Animal Exploration with Jarod Miller, but most of the other ones just got lost because of the way it sorta down-taught me rather than present captivating and highly illustrated material.
Then again, perhaps different personalities are receptive to different styles. I am amazed at the fact that it is capable of keeping the attention of your toddler, and in that case I'm glad to hear it! I just wonder if it's possible to diversify a channel into different styles for each kind of toddler, parent, or even an adult without children to learn about the intriguing information that makes up the universe we live in.

Omg same!!! It's funny how the best way we learn is the same way we learned when we were younger lol.
Vhjgjgj
Those sounds brought me back to my childhood days.
Yea.
such a peaceful summer
Maybe I'm just different, but those always bored me a ton. I loved the shows like Animal Exploration with Jarod Miller, as the way he presented it felt real and experiential. I got to see an unfiltered and distraction-free view of real creatures and lots of interesting information as he interacted with them. The piano sounds and constant breaks completely lost me, whether as a child or as an adult. Is that just me?
@@fluffsquirrel I'm calling the Inquisitors to cleanse your heresy.
In Asia, they use it to cook, I ate really delicious
The piano bits on background is so calming and really makes your video quality very good. Good job, amazing edit 👌👍
Yep the cinematography on his videos is phenomenal.
He's channeling big Mister Rogers Energy.
I wish there were way more content creators that did this, with a lot of soothing classical music and piano. It calms down the viewer and makes him settle down and listen.
The way different clades independently developed features with the same use (like their ears vs. ours) is so fascinating to learn about.
Report this channel. (Not Odd Animal Specimens, this one that I am replying to!)
i think this is called convergent evolution incase youd like to learn more
I'm just going to say this, Sony needs to get some head phone or ear buds for these creatures 😅
@@yan7314you are correct!
my ex gf have ears on her vegena.
Fascinating. Who knew there was so much to know about crickets, grasshoppers and katydids.
Katy did what?
Ur mom
THATS WHAT I'M SAYING DUDE
YO I WAS ABOUT TO COMMENT DAT
Underrated..
katy didn't
The chirping of crickets is so closely associated with the ambiance of the night. It evokes a deep sense of nostalgia for me, bringing back memories of sitting outdoors with family by a warm fire, feeling the gentle breeze, and hearing the crickets in the background as the stars twinkle above.
What a great video! You're like a Mr. Rogers of science. And I REALLY appreciate the fact that during the whole video you refrained from resorting to ANY storytelling. Sooo refreshing. Keep up the great work!
Was looking for the comment that said this was like a Mr Roger's educational segment
It is 1 AM and I am watching a video about grasshoppers. Not regretting it at all. Absolutely worth it.
same lol
Can you PLEASE make a playlist with all the videos that are like this one? It’s so hard to sort through and find them
This feels like a show on PBS Kids or something and I am here for it
I was impressed about the ears placement!
Also the specimens shown towards the end are just awesome!
Your channel is so underrated I love it I really want to be a zoologist when I’m older
Go for it man! Is it really a job if its something you love doing? Or is it just paid fun time? Thats the important part, is to find a way to get paid and do the thing you love at the same time
This is so cool! I didnt know grasshoppers make sounds!
These recent videos are nice and obviously a lot of people like them, but I hope you don't totally abandon the wild and frantic energy you had in older ones. Those "what is this skull" and collection tour videos were great!
PLEASE make more of these kinds of videos man i absolutely love the piano sounds in the back ground
Okay I wasn't sure if it was you but after asking my 7 year old son. He said "yes thats him thats him!" and now he wont stop watching your videos. He loved you in the weird but true and we kept looking for you in other shows and now 3 years later we come across these videos.
The way you present your content is so amazingly attractive for viewers of all ages! Your manner of speaking is perfect to lure children in, yet is still able to hold the attentions of adults. The content is also a perfect balance of facts and bits that make it entertaining!
there's something so classy about how the piano is incorporated into the video. this is my first non short vid of yours that ive seen, and it looks like ill have to binge all the others
The sound design for this video was AMAZING! Stellar work all around!
Super fascinating stuff! Would love to get some time in a collection like that. How do they keep these insects in this good state. You were even able to move their wings without them falling apart.
Likely they have several specimens of the same species in different poses. Preserved insects are very brittle
Was I expecting an abc style kids show with insects not exactly but this editing style is so unique that I really like it keep going
Grasshopper are probably some of my favorite insects, so it was nice learn some more about them
I love your format, encouraging students to think before being given the answer. Keep up the good work!
Dude your channel is amazing. My 5 year old is so interested in all different types of bugs and I've been looking for a good learning channel for that and I showed him this and he is absolutely amazed.
This was extremely informative and interesting. I didn't know there was so much to learn about these little guyys.
Wow the katydid sound is what I always thought a cicada made. Neat!
Ah, so thats what Katydid
I am an arthropod enthusiast, hoping to become an entomologist when I get older. My favorite bugs are without a doubt grasshoppers and katydids, as they are what sparked my love for arthropods❤ thank you so much for making this video, it was as if it was made for me lol!
Such interesting information right? Good luck on becoming a future entomologist!
I'm an artist, hoping to make a show one day, and I have a whole story about characters who are all based on bug genuses. A ton of them are based on orthopterans like grasshoppers and katydids, and I've learnt so much about bugs while researching them so I can make my characters accurate.
@@capootiscrepitoos That actually sounds like a book I'd read! I believe in you!
@@endercat3344 Thanks a ton!
@@capootiscrepitoos :)
I really love this playful format. There's a childhood TV show nostalgic feel to it. Thank you.
Hey Odd Animal Specimens, can you explain to us how do cobra's or king cobra's inflate their hood?? And what the use of it??
I'm very curious about it
Wow, your presentation and editing style has evolved so beautifully. Well done, man.
I’m sure you get this question quite a lot but how does one get into the position you’re in? I’m just starting highschool and im very passionate about the study of animals and insects, but im not sure which path i should take to get there. Love the videos sorry for the broadness of the question!
This was so perfect to show my children for learning about grasshoppers. It was interesting enough to keep their attention yet slow enough for them to actually learn.
Shoutouts to your story telling. It was very slow paced and kept suspense for relatively long times, but I didn't feel annoyed and exit the video after some seconds. Somehow you kept it very captivating and interesting despite dragging it out. Good producing.
This is so wholesome and beautiful
These insects are all from the order Orthoptera.
I love the way this video is filmed and edited! Super simple to follow and understand, an educational video that is very pleasant and easy to watch, thank you! 🙏
😮😮😮😮😢😢😂😂😂😂
😅😅😅
watching this with a fever is so chill ty, no loud noises, definitely going to use this as a new babysitting tactic.
It’s so fun learning new things about bugs! I love grasshoppers and I could name all the sounds, but learning how to use them was cool. Anyways, nature is so underrated and I wish more people would appreciate it! Thanks for being here, Mr scientist man, to educate us:D
Great video, man 🤙 the mix is impeccable 👏
One of the best nature/animal CZcams creators. Great video
Thank you for the education. The video was great and informative. You have a very pleasant and interesting way of conveying information. I really appreciate it and I am subscribing now. However, you didn't talk about Locusts, which I feel should have been included.
Also just a quick note here. The Guiro is actually pronounced Goo_ee_ro. 👍
Feels like a video I would have watched in elementary and I LOVE it.
this channel is a blessing
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! So fun and informative! I LOVE learning about animals and plants! Biology is magical!
you are a better teacher i literally learned more from you than in school your like a better teacher
its always a beautiful day when u upload a video
10 out of 10 for education and entertainment. Love these!
Finally this guy is not claiming that these are all his collections, big improvement with not miss informing people 👏🏻👏🏻
I love your video. I think it’s best for young kids with all the theatrics and musical melodies ❤
I love your channel!!!
It's soothing and interesting.i wish I had a teacher like you. I'd take a course.
This is so great. Thanks!
Can you show the sea animal collection in the dry lab? Thanks! I love your content its so entertaining
Nice and relaxing educational video. Good job sir.. you nailed it!!!
This is great information, my science teacher would like this.
I loved playing with grasshoppers in tall grass when I was a kid in the summer. They'd do their raspy noise and jump above the grass, and I'd try to catch them before they landed. It was great exercise. 😅
Watched a short that featured mormon katydids. Found my way here. Subscribed.
I love this channel I love hearing more animal things 👏
love the editing style
Interesting video!! I learned a lot!!
Never knew katydid and crickets made sounds with their wings
great video mate thanks for sharing
I kinda knew a lot of this but i loved the video
I feel like I'm experiencing this video.
The soft ques remind me of a game I used to play 🤔
I can't think of it roght now but you played a detective in the old days and you would hear a soft cue when you walked by stuff.
That game was calming in a way. Until you got it interrogation 😬
I wish i remembered the name.
But this video editing is top notch.
New subscriber 👊
Lol, stock footage. Points to article of Northern Pygmy Owl while referring to crickets. Love the channel. Reminds me of shows on PBS or in science class when I was a kid. The more you know!
these videos hit different 😌
ur videos remind me of being a child and watching pbs kids back when life was simple and not bad.
I didn’t know grasshoppers look terrifying up close ✋😭
This feels like adult blues clues and science class and I love it
I like your format
oh i like this educational style
This was great, btw -- I forgot to leave a comment; but, yeah -- great video. Thanks!🙂
Amazing video, man! It's like a story . . I was arguing with my girlfriend about that noise and suddenly a video about it. :D Turns out it's a katydid rubbing it's wings.
I love those sounds
I love these videos. I’m getting mister Rogers vibes
When I was a kid, I seen a grasshopper hover in the air after jumping and taking flight, and it made a sound while it was hovering. I always thought grasshoppers made different sounds with different methods. I don't know what kind of grasshopper it was and there seemed to be multiple species in my yard. Most of the ones I seen had brownish or grayish bodies, but some were green. The wings were mostly black and yellow, or black and orange.
man ilove the way you narrate
It's insane how we get videos of this quality for free
The editing reminds me of when i was a kid watching oswald its nice
Please do a video on cicadas!!!
I was just wondering about this the other day. I knew there was a difference between crickets and grasshoppers, but I didn't know what it was.
OAS: We are standing on a planet called Earth
Screen: ERROR!
I was always taught the sound of the katydid wa actually a cicada! I'm not too sure hag the difference is, but it's interesting!
Welp, I knew these, but this is still helpful.
Why do animal videos on CZcams teach so much better than actual school? I just learned so much about similar insects in one video
your editing style reminds me of Untitled Goose Game, love it 10/10
this soundtrack of this channel is like blue clues but adult version. I like it
Can you make a video on the differences between mudpuppies and axolotls? Because I found some mudpuppies and they look very similar
Mr. Roger vibes. Especially with the piano sound
got it right in the riddle at the end
Can can u tell me which book its in which u search.
I found a grasshopper on my flowers tonight and we watched your video together to better know each other 🙂
I love it!😊😎
Katydid: oh no. I must clean my abdomen.
*flings poop 1000 miles away into someone’s mouth… probably*
Yeah i collect insects and i once caught a huge katydid. I put it in alcohol so it doesn't decompose before i have the time to pin and dry it correctly. A few days later i took it out of the jar, and it somehow made a chirping noise. That's when i understood they rub their wings together to make the sound. And if i manually rubbed them onto each other, it would also make a sound. So i took it outside during the night, and tried attracting females with the sound. And it worked! Sorta. I soon saw multiple katydids of the same species on a branch, and i caught two more males and one huge female...i still have those in my collection and the wings of the first one are also pinned next to them sorta as a trophy.
Great video, btw -- I forgot to leave a comment; but, yeah great video!🙂
Teacher: Who was making noise in class
Me: Katy did
I think grasshoppers, crickets, and katydids should start an ASMR channel.
Okay but what do cicadas do to make sounds? Where I live they can be deafening when they emerge
