@GonzotheGonz1 There are different types of tough guys. Those who regret their >400 fights and want no more bloodshed will smile, apologize, and pay every courtesy in order to avoid an altercation; However, as soon as a hand is laid on them in anger, the speaking stops, the smile leaves, and any semblance of humanity leaves for a brief time. Learning to turn that rage off is what takes practice. You can actually deliver more effective intimidation by remaining calm and friendly in the face of anger than with Vin's cliche monologue here.
@GonzotheGonz1 I spent thirty years as a cop in Scotland, almost all of it on the streets (never was smart enough for a desk job I guess). What you say is very true.
@GonzotheGonz1I can only sorta agree with. I've meet tough guys who talk and ones that stay silent. Sometimes talking before a fight serves 2 purposes. 1: to avoid a fight. Sometimes a fight is pointless so why even start. Sometimes it's to give the guy an out. 2: tactics/strategy. It can lull the other guy into a false sense of security. Basically it's just a distraction. And before anyone can say something about sucker punches, unfair or below the belt remember that a fight is not the same as a match. You do what you need to do.

That was good acting by Kevin Gage (Brucker). The way his demeanor slowly changes as his confidence ebbs away, realizing he's gotten himself into a situation he can't handle.
The guy who just ashed his cigarette was legit doing the most Montana thing ever. A dispute between two men is just that. It was a fair fight and it wasn't his business.
It never was a fair fight, its basically a street fight and there are no rules, no limitations and especially there is no fairness in street fighting, his large buddies could have jumped in, they didn’t because of fear and that was the goal of the beating. When Vin Diesel was finished with this speech the guy was already submissive, he tried to back out because the muscles convinced him of the 500 story being true, but since Vin Diesel portrays a mafia enforcer, Vins character knew that knowing wouldn’t be enough, they had to see….
I think it was also he realized that the local (brucker?) was about to learn he wasn't the toughest guy in the bar that night. I remember a fight I watched in 7th grade when a city kid took on a farm boy. The city kid's name was Brian as we watched the farm boy wipe the floor with Brian one of my friends also watching the fight said"You know the problem with Brian? He thinks he's a bigger badass than he really is"
It was this performance and Riddick that always stood out as Vin's best for me. When Vin is allowed to be a proper tough guy his presence can really be special.
Damn, normally someone would say "he's had ENOUGH!", but no one else wanted to catch the remainder of his ass whooping, so they all remained silent(as they should). LOL
The music playing in the background really makes that fight 😂😂 It's like everyone at the bar unanimously knew that guy was overdue for an ass whooping.
I love the guy at the bar knocking the Ash out of his cig, He's a tough guy who's seen these bullys before and loves them getting the shit kicked out of them
The guy you see on the left is the guy that served them the drinks and let Brucker know there were outsiders in the bar. His desperate face speaks volumes.
My favorite part too! He's so nonchalant with it, I always imagined him thinking, "Yep, another Saturday night...another dumb sumbitch getting separated from his DNA." 😂
3:17 I LOVE the guy at the bar. It’s a small reaction cut but it says SO much. There sits a learned man who knew this was gonna eventually happen, but at the level of wisdom where he doesn’t even gloat. No ‘ha called it’ just a simple whisper of a ‘...yep’
Best part nobody ever talks about is the ol’ timer sitting at the bar casually smoking his cigarette like he’s seen this one too many times in his small town while everyone else is in awe. Very underrated movie.
This whole scene is AWSOME!!! All purposely placed Punches!!! I was hit just ONCE in the solar plexus by a Bully one time...thought I was gonna die!!! Took over a minute to finally draw a breath of air!!! Absolutely shocks and disengages the involuntary breathing reflex!!! And then those Liver Punches......
Solar plexus is one of the best places to hit and show a person they don't know shit. The ones that can kinda fight but were never formally taught. They know to protect the face but not the solar plexus. I'm no badass by any means, but a little training will help you deal with most people. Trained about three years boxing a while back but I'm very out of condition right now.
Tom Anderson street fights ain’t like the ring, one decent punch or a well delivered head butt will end it right there. Don’t expect to be fighting a lot of rounds or something like that, the average guy who likes to cause trouble in bars isn’t the super MMA fighter he thinks he is. 9 out of 10 times such a person doesn’t know how to take a punch and thats why you need to be observing and strike first when you get the chance.
There is so much subtle attention to detail. As people noted the guy putting out his cigarette at the bar. I love how during the beatdown rather than being non-stop he take a second or two to take a look and reevaluate his work.
Most people on the street do just the oposite, they blink, they move to position themselves and narrow your vision, and they show alot of emotions to not get your suspicions. The reality check comes when you eat the sucker punch you dont see coming [hence the name btw]. The most dangerous oponent on the street is not the guy who charge at you, but the one that wants your guard dropped before you put it up.
No one in the bar liked him at all even his friends they sat there and let him get beat up. His friends was stuck between a rock and hard place being his friend he keeps being a trouble maker.
love the bit as you say where he stares out the other so called 'hard men' and they back away, classic, and also where Brooker say's " i am also the guy who decides whether you and your friends walk the fuck outta here" then "look i don't have a problem with you guys" after staring at Vin, 🤣🤣
I have nothing but respect for a man that values body shots!! Kidneys, liver, solar plexus are such great targets to incapacitate without risking serious injury to the hands that can occur from connecting with the skull. As a boxer I love how he delivers those blows to those vital areas of the target. Poetic. Beautiful....
exactly. anyone who has caught a liver shot or a smashed kidney knows thats gonna drop him faster than being smacked in the mouth. hes also gonna feel it alot longer.
I prefer to start things off with a leg kick. Very few people have experienced such an overwhelming sensation in their thigh. Sets the tone pretty quick
My favorite part of this is always that quick take to the guy at the bar with this smoke. He gives that look and the quick ash of his smoke like, "Yep, he's gonna not like this at all". 3:16
A genuinely great little film. I still have a think from time to time about how it never became bigger. Not one bad acting job, terrific matter of fact action scenes and very solid dialogue.
Iirc the film was actually shelved for a long time and only got distributed after the surprise success of The Fast and the Furious. I agree with you though that it really stood on its own merit.
The sound effects are the best I've ever heard, that's what it actually sounds like. I've been on both sides and those sounds scare the shit out of the guy losing.
Sure don't feel good. I'll tell you what, adrenaline can get you past face shots. A good chin too. But those body shots. Forget it. Feels like you're suffocating while dying from pain
Not gonna lie ive been in a handful of fights. Won most of them but i came across this dude in high school. And out of all the fights id been part of to that point he was the first and only one thst went for the body when we were close . He connected on one really really good one to my right kidney from the back and it literally felt like he hit the off button for my entire bodily functions. It hurt so bad but the next day i legit thought i was dying lol
Kevin Gage (as Brucker): I'm not going to pretend I'm familiar with the guy, but he's just fantastic here. Watch his expression in that speech from beginning to end, he just perfectly changes it a bit at a time.
One of the best power punch scenes, with great dialogue and acting from all. You just feel the bones crunching with those hits. Thanks for this, i saw it when it came out and have watched this part plenty.
I remember being 15 watching this in my bedroom working out think I can't wait to get big and strong. I'm 34 now and I realized alone the way most people are cowards and when you're big fast and strong people will cross the street to avoid you and you will rarely if ever get into a fight. People like to pick on the small and weak and once you cross both of those off your list life opens up to you.
Not really. Not being a dick, avoiding areas where dicks hang out, not thinking you have to punch your way out of every disagreement, not being a hot head, not resorting to violence, being patient and polite are much better solutions that are more effective. The clip shown here is EXACTLY the opposite of the last part of your comment. Vin Diesel's character shows how no matter how tough you are, there's going to be someone or some group of people who want to prove otherwise. The guy who lost was a dick, he he'd already decided that "People like to pick on the small and weak and once you cross both of those off your list life opens up to you."
I actually loved this film. It had an awesome cast and they actually brought passion to the roles. Even Seth Green did a good job and I was sad when they killed Marbles!! Barry Pepper and Dennis Hopper carried the show with John Malcovich also upping the ante. Tom Noonan as the crooked cop (yea. Like I said, cop) and some awesome Sopranos typecasted supporting roles make this a solidly above par mobster film.

The city kid's name was Brian as we watched the farm boy wipe the floor with Brian one of my friends also watching the fight said"You know the problem with Brian? He thinks he's a bigger badass than he really is"
One of the best beat downs in movie history. I find myself watching this over and over. Vin needed more credit!
Go check out the bar scene from the movie "A Bronx Tale". You won't be disappointed.
@@sidebite2533 I love that movie
@@bostonboucher7778
Yes Sir. It has Violence, Love, Heartbreak, Role Modeling, Gorgeous Cars, and Sonny 😆
@@sidebite2533 What genre of movies do you find yourself watching the most?
You watch this over and over?
That song playing in the background while the beat down takes place is EPIC lol 😆 hilarious 😆
It was this performance and Riddick that always stood out as Vin's best for me. When Vin is allowed to be a proper tough guy his presence can really be special.
That deep smooth voice is the calm before the storm.
They coulda made a few less fast n furious and a few more riddicks I’d you ask me. I love the car porn and they all good but c’mon…
@@bigl6322 too much goof not enough tough
This was right before Vin & his sniper friend left for Ranger school in WW2.
romanl1977 im also think the way u think!
Me too! Boyyyyy
Lol!
To save private ryan lmfaooo
Sad they both died
Those kidney punches are a work of art.. I always miss good body shots in street fights , people always swing for the head
Yeah body punches especially to the kidney and liver will have you pissing out blood in the morning.
Back right side is liver. The ol Bas Rutin special...
One of them lifted Brucker into the air lol
I can't get enough of this scene.
I never get tired of this scene...
Damn, normally someone would say "he's had ENOUGH!", but no one else wanted to catch the remainder of his ass whooping, so they all remained silent(as they should). LOL
The guy was a dick and probably didn’t have many if any friends.
As son as Vin said “so I got started” buddy crapped his pants. Just watch his demeanor change in that moment 😂🤣
It was at that very moment he remembered not putting on his "crapping pants" or a pair of Depends this morning before leaving the house
His look says "Wait you were serious about that kid story? That wasn't a joke?! Omg I'm in danger..." 🤣
The music playing in the background really makes that fight 😂😂
It's like everyone at the bar unanimously knew that guy was overdue for an ass whooping.
The choice of such a gentle song as the backdrop for a brutal beatdown is outstanding.
Still one of the greatest Vin Diesel lines of all time.
I love the guy at the bar knocking the Ash out of his cig, He's a tough guy who's seen these bullys before and loves them getting the shit kicked out of them
The guy you see on the left is the guy that served them the drinks and let Brucker know there were outsiders in the bar. His desperate face
speaks volumes.
Phelps Travel Vlogs thought I was the only 1 that love that part 😂
@@bodoor8172 yeah but that's the thing bartenders report to whoever runs the bar when that changes hands he works for them
My favorite part too! He's so nonchalant with it, I always imagined him thinking, "Yep, another Saturday night...another dumb sumbitch getting separated from his DNA." 😂
More like I’m minding my own business , I don’t want anything to do with that ass beating
I love that he takes brief pauses before going in on the final punches to make sure if he can survive a few more lol
Love the guy at the bar just flicks his cigarette and goes back to what he was doing. Another tough guy on his way to 500.
That whole bar was satisfied with that beat down lol 😂
3:17 I LOVE the guy at the bar. It’s a small reaction cut but it says SO much. There sits a learned man who knew this was gonna eventually happen, but at the level of wisdom where he doesn’t even gloat. No ‘ha called it’ just a simple whisper of a ‘...yep’
shut the fuck up
@@Petey0707 or what tough guy hmm whatcha gonna do 🤷😆
Hey cactus Jack. Stfu
@@Zangelus73 Why are you telling him to shut the fuck up exactly? Move along.

He's gonna give his text pad hell, that's what.. 😂😂
Best part nobody ever talks about is the ol’ timer sitting at the bar casually smoking his cigarette like he’s seen this one too many times in his small town while everyone else is in awe. Very underrated movie.
‘Nothing more and important than this!🙉 Best head butt answer ever!☠️
"Knockaround guys" good title, he knocked that guy around 🤣🤣
Know what the only thing is that makes you tougher than 500 street fights? Family!
LMAO AYOO
Lmao Golden comment friend.
I can never again hear that song and not think of this beatdown 😂
Love how his sycophants backed up😂😂
This whole scene is AWSOME!!!
Correct. Getting hit in the Solar Plexus is like getting hit in the soul. Lol
“Look, i got no problems witchu alright”
😂after spitting on him
I dunno why but I always thought this scene was both badass and hilarious at the same time!!
There is so much subtle attention to detail. As people noted the guy putting out his cigarette at the bar. I love how during the beatdown rather than being non-stop he take a second or two to take a look and reevaluate his work.
He's eyes don't move, he never blinks, and they show no emotion. Can unnerve the hardest people with those three things.
I love the fact that Vin doesn't even look down when the guy spits on him.
You watch too many movies, because you're full of shit.
@@BD-jn5dn well I'm on the toilet so yeah.
@@adamhawk160 is that where you thought of the cringey original comment? "can unnerve the hardest people". 😄
Who needs 500 fights when you've got family?
Did not know about this movie and never saw Vin Diesel in such a role. Supporting role but looking more deadly than all the other films he has done !
This wasn’t a bar fight …. This was a physical Ted talk
I love how he knocks the guy down and circles him while staring all his buddies down, then picks him and starts hitting him again 😆😆😆
Love how it's 1 head headbutt, then 11 bodyshots. not 234 shots to the head. 11 shots from a guy like that to the body, well game over
No one in the bar liked him at all even his friends they sat there and let him get beat up. His friends was stuck between a rock and hard place being his friend he keeps being a trouble maker.
I like when he knocked around the guy! :^)
love the bit as you say where he stares out the other so called 'hard men' and they back away, classic, and also where Brooker say's " i am also the guy who decides whether you and your friends walk the fuck outta here" then "look i don't have a problem with you guys" after staring at Vin, 🤣🤣
Threezy’s World, and then when he’s done hitting him, he grabs him by the collar and punches him some more. Game over…
But wait…. There’s more!
😂😂😂
I have nothing but respect for a man that values body shots!! Kidneys, liver, solar plexus are such great targets to incapacitate without risking serious injury to the hands that can occur from connecting with the skull. As a boxer I love how he delivers those blows to those vital areas of the target. Poetic. Beautiful....
Dude, this is a fucking movie, it's not some CCTV-footage
As a boxer, you LOVE how he delivered kidney blows that would be illegal in your sport? Really?
And anyone whose been in a fight knows, body shots hurt more than head shots.
exactly. anyone who has caught a liver shot or a smashed kidney knows thats gonna drop him faster than being smacked in the mouth. hes also gonna feel it alot longer.
I prefer to start things off with a leg kick. Very few people have experienced such an overwhelming sensation in their thigh. Sets the tone pretty quick
When he looks down at the guy on the ground, he looks like an artist trying to create his vision in clay with fists
Malkovich’s accent was pretty bad, but other than that, solid movie.
Iirc the film was actually shelved for a long time and only got distributed after the surprise success of The Fast and the Furious. I agree with you though that it really stood on its own merit.
It's weird seeing Dennis hopper and John Malkovich play as Italian mobsters.
@@anakrime93 I agree. I've always thought that Malkovich would make a great serial killer taunting the ob from an island in the currant bun.
Agreed
LOL ... best part of the scene is the older guy who just knocks the ash off his smoke at 3:17.
Kevin Gage (as Brucker): I'm not going to pretend I'm familiar with the guy, but he's just fantastic here. Watch his expression in that speech from beginning to end, he just perfectly changes it a bit at a time.
When he took his coat off I heard Aldo the Apache whispering "The Bearrrr Jew"
None of that ol boy's friends decided to jump in and get some of their own... Smart choices!
The writer couldn't have hoped for a better outcome than that given by Vin Diesel, he presented them masterfully.
That’s about the only scene I remembered from this movie for
All these years later
This was my favorite scene in the movie
This was my favorite scene of a vin diesel movie... Yes the money and the fame rolled in but this was his best moment.
That’s because it’s the only decent scene IN the movie.
those 3 other guys were like, nope, we'll be on our way!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of the best power punch scenes, with great dialogue and acting from all. You just feel the bones crunching with those hits. Thanks for this, i saw it when it came out and have watched this part plenty.
As Mr Miyagi once said
"Someone always know more"
Only Vin Diesel could say he had 500 fights, and he is the tough guy, without sounding corny
The guy watching with the smoke at the bar makes this scene 100%.
This might be a movie but that was a brutal azz whoopin!
Producer: How cheesey do you want this?
Vin: I'm gonna set the mf record.
No cheese here. Just chills. Great scene with over 2 million views..
Love that scene! He should have deffo walked away when vin took his jacket off 😂
He change he’s tone very fast when the bombs came out 🤪🤪🤪
Definitely one of the best fight scenes ever in Hollywood history. This was a great barroom fight.😊
No.
A guy like this charakter should choose oponents, not victims.
Vin Diesel Makes Loosing Your Hair Look Cool. 500 Street Fights, Dude Is A Beast
Excess testosterone turns into hyrda-testosterone which destroys hair follicles, and basically means that he's just too masculine ...
This has to be the most satisfying scene ever! Can't believe I forgot about this gem💎
Vin won that fight the second he said 500
Those body shots by Vin were brutal.
One literally lifted Brucker into the air! 🤣
Always like this movie as a teen. Gotta rewatch and see if it holds up.
From the first time I saw the 500 fights fight scene it has remained my all time favorite fight scene. Epic!
Your forgetting xXx...
Kidney shots, liver shots, call them what you want. But it's hard to overcome a good knee to the face.
Dude was done after the body shots. Probably felt like he was dying
Love how he rolled his shoulder, like one of the layers of muscle was laying wrong.💜💜
Barry Pepper is still the coolest thing in this scene....‘yeah, he’ll do’. Doesn’t even need to get his hands dirty.
You call that a dog fall?
Mighty big talk from a hometown tough that's about to get an education...
I love this scene. Makes me think of Riddick in a way how he talks to the guy. Riddick is definitely in my opinion Vin Diesel's best role.
Yes, Knockaround and Chronicles of Riddick. Also great in Boiler Room. Barry Pepper ace in everything he does. Snow Walker and 25th Hour. 👍
The guy ashing his cigarette must’ve been like “it’s about time he got his” lol
Moral of the story: Do not get to 499 and quit.
Awesome scene..every kid that had a bully will enjoy this
Those pauses in between the hits, like giving him hope that hes done, but then just keep on beating the live out of him, you just gotta love Vin
