    My 2018 5.0 f150 10 speed transmission I bought used was horrible. Harsh shifts and boggy! I took it to the dealership and he said the same thing he gave me an option to clear the adaptive learning or completely turn it off And let it shift the way Ford wants it to shift. I chose that to go ahead and turn it off and wow it made a world of difference! It runs so much better now with adaptive learning turned off! Mind blown!

    Thanks for the explanation of the "learning cycle" after clearing codes. Every time I disconnected the battery - hence clearing the codes - on a 1999 Windstar (the famous 171-174 lean) I used to go thru a bunch of steps in an "OBD2 run cycle" - better performed at a time with NO traffic at all- and now I am glad I did as this cycle was not just aimed at clearing the emission codes(...)

      @christopherboone9802 Před 2 lety +1

      You do NOT clear the transmission tables by disconnecting the battery...it does not do that...it will clear your check engine light but any issues will turn it back on. Your transmission tables have to be cleared via a software scan tool like Forscan

    Very interesting. I stumbled across a similar thing on a 2002 BMW I bought used. It had a hard down shift 2-1. I lived with that for years until the battery died. After replacing it, the shifts were smooth so I figured it had adaptive learning which was reset by disconnecting the battery. Wish I had done that years before. Now I have a 2013 Ford Escape and it often has a hard shift going up from 2-3. It's a shame it can't be reset by disconnecting the battery.

    I've had issues with the DSP6 transmission in my Fiesta. It wasn't shifting right and would sometimes leave me with no power at all until it decided to shift. All I knew was that it was a transmission control module malfunction. Well after thousands of miles I got home and hooked it up to my wifi odb2 tool and cleared all the codes and honestly didn't imagine it would resolve my transmission issues. I was just trying to see if I had any other faults. It did however fix my transmission completely. I was able to do 90 at 4k while before I couldn't do 80 without pushing 5k. And it hasn't slipped once. Also i've been getting 41 mph average which I have never seen in the year i've owned it let alone on this road trip where it would have saved me $200. Oh and I am certain Ford would have insisted I needed clutch or transmission service, well hopefully my friend wouldn't have screwed me as he was an adult leader of mine when I was in Scouts. But if it wasn't for having a friend on the inside I wouldn't have trusted Ford not to rob me blind.

    What I thought was a transmission issue on my 2012 Jetta was actually in fact a super sticky throttle valve! The car had been jerking very harshly on acceleration and deceleration and I automatically assumed it was transmission and was about to do a fluid exchange, then I got lucky lol and check engine light came on (for something else) and I had to get in the throttle body and discovered it was absolutely black and had major buildup - spray a little throttle body cleaner and VOILA!!!!! Maybe this could also help somebody else….

It also was trying to shift gears between 3 and 4th - i don't believe it has 5 gears. At any rate, did this - and it WORKED! The truck I bought only had 130 miles on her. Seller told me about the high rpms, but when I drove it - the truck wasn't slipping gears, it just felt to me that the computer needed to be reset. It's like this A LOT with BMWs too - but with them you don't need to hook up anything to reset the drive tables.

Only way to solve the problem is to replace both the OSS and TSS. According to the 6f50 transmission manual the Adaptive memory can be reset if the battery is disconnected for more than 20 minutes

    Learned something today I never knew ! I have a 2017 Escape with the 2.0. I drive normal and pretty easy. Once in a while I "lay into it" and thought I had a trans problem. When I pull away from a light or stop sign real hard It revs real high like the trans is slipping going into 2nd or 3 rd gear. It only does it 1 time. From then on, it shifts fine when I "lay into it". A few days later it does that again. Only once, then fine after that. Didn't know the trans "learns" like the video shows. Saved me a trip to the dealer to tell them I might have low trans fluid and its slipping. Its under warranty, and no dipstick to check the fluid.

    Could you do a video on communicating with your service advisor? I have experienced difficulty getting warranty diagnostic time spent on intermittent or less noticable problems. I'll admit they can be harder to find, but on a couple instances I have had to pay an independent shop to diagnose and report an issue so I can get Ford to honor their warranty. For someone like me who takes it in for a strange nosie before the engine grenades you would think they would appreciate that.

      try another ford dealer? if theres one close by. if its an intermittent issue its really hard for the flat rate guys to spend any time on the vehicle when they can't duplicate the concern within first road test. try and find a way to duplicate the concern so they service advisor can leave that on the work order. lots of service advisors are duds and don't know anything about vehicles..its just a place to be to get money. there is some pretty ridiculous complaints that dealers get on weird noises. sometimes its in the customers head. sometimes it just takes complaining to your salesman and the service manager. our two foreman work on some really stupid complaints but they get er done for the customer.

      @ramivalencia Před 6 lety +1

      Does it stall after filling up the gas stank? If so, the car's purge valve might be clogged up or faulty. My car never stalled, but it came close once or twice. Then the Check Engine Light came on after I started to notice it was using more gas than usual and the exhaust fumes smelled a bit rich, as if some of the gas wasn't being burned properly. Took it to the dealer a month before the CEL came on and they found nothing. Of course, once the CEL came on they found the issue and replaced the purge valve. To be honest, if you're handy with you tools, buy the purge valve from a trusted ebay seller and replace it yourself. It'll save you about $300. But of course, first run an OBD scanner on your car and see if the P144A fault is found. If that fault comes up, it's confirmation that the purge valve is the culprit.

    2015 transit t350 code p0715
    Mr. tech.
    Glad I found your channel. I have a 15 transit 350 with 3.7. 6r80.
    I have been having this vibration sound for a long time, I would describe it like a low bass sound, from big sound system. It comes and goes at any speed above prob 40mph. It will sometimes happen every few seconds and it last for a second or 2.
    We now have 135k and it started 50k or so ago. I have taken it to several shops and they all say it’s tires or shocks or something and never fixed the problem.
    Last week I was headed up in elevation on a road trip, no trailer. And I was noticing the rpm would bounce +\- 200, when the sound happens.
    Then, the sound went away. Approx 50miles later I noticed fluid getting on my rear Windows. I kept driving and made it the next 100 miles to our destination. During the 100 miles, it didn’t ever shift down when pulling hills, it stayed in 6. Even if I manually tried selecting another gear, it wouldn’t allow me to change.
    After getting into town, I shut it off and when restarted tried, it shifts hard to reverse and drive. It operated fine in R. But feels like I’m still starting in a higher gear.
    We trailered it back to our town. Where I now have it and am ready to work on it.
    What are your thoughts? I purchased: lead frame, case of fluid, filter, and it was all here by the time we got home.
    Now I’m thinking torque converter too.
    Or am I too far into it and should just bite bullet and order a trans?
    Where would the fluid have come from?
    It looks wet on bottom of bell housing…
