I think a lot of fans were hoping for Crack the Skye 2.0 on this album. Mastodon decided to Shatter the Universe instead. They really went above and beyond with this album. Speechless. Thank you Mastodon.
This is a masterpiece .... I hear some ppl saying "Oh this isn't Mastodon... they want remission or Leviathan.... well sorry folks this is a fucking more evolved Mastodon...
Different albums... Imo crack the Skye set the bar too high to ever be surpassed musically, however, this album hits me right in the feelings, my dad was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in September, i traveled to be with him in October 29th that day this album was released, exactly 2 months later the 29th of December he passed away.. this album truly helped me to stay strong during those times, making it for me probably my dearest mastodon album so far...
This is why I don't get why anyone would disable comments on music. I mean they are often filled with people either talking about how great certain songs are, what is great about it, theories, and total hilarious memes
It's so beautiful to see comments on a music track video, once again. Makes me feel like I'm sharing something special, with everyone else :D! Wish this could last forever.

I lost my best friend Rachel in 95. In 2005 I lost my other friend Tom. In 2011, I lost Justin a man I called my brother for 20 years. This song touches my soul. Thank you.
This sounds like a Gone Is Gone song and I'm not even remotely upset. I'm glad they brought some of that sound into Mastodon, I love Troy's work in that band!
I think this is my new favorite on the album. Troy's voice is fucking majestic and the driving beat is absolutely hypnotic. Also, it has a bit of a Kashmir vibe. This song just rules.
I’ve been listening to this album non stop these past couple of weeks and I can now say with confidence that this song is not only the best cut on this fantastic album, but a true career highlight for Mastodon. It’s a magnificent piece of songwriting: dark, majestic and beautiful. Sanders haunting vocals, coupled with the oriental flourishes and ominous keys, make this one of Mastodon’s most unique tracks to date.
Just before Christmas we had to put my best buddy, my ginger cat named Carson to forever sleep after a thrombosis. Mastodon was one of the bands he would jump on my desk for when I was listening to music. Always purring. I'd like to dedicate this song to him. Best buddy, sweet ginger, purrmonster.
Jesus this is so epic sounding, its like background music for an army charging into battle. This is such a different direction but I really like it, Hushed and Grim has been full of surprises.

"The price we pay to know you.." Well that's depressing. It's so true when we deal with loss..
This one cuts deep for anyone who's ever lost someone special.
My best friend passed away about 3 years ago now. To me this album feels like the journey from when he passed all the way to now and beyond
It's so beautiful to see comments on a music track video, once again. Makes me feel like I'm sharing something special, with everyone else :D! Wish this could last forever.
It's coming back soon. That true connection with others.
Wonder why it’s been removed on some music track vids??

Well said!! The camaraderie among the fans here is very comforting. I can't speak for anyone else but this album is already very special to me♥️
Sometimes I wonder if Mastodon actually knows how good their music is.
This song has atmosphere written all over it.

This has a midieval lurking depression to it that reflects a sadness that I can fucking jam to. Thanks MastodoN
As if this album wasn't different enough upto this point..... I'm completely blown away.
The beginning reminds me a lot of Wings for Marie from Tool. Has the same general vibe. Awesome song, awesome album, awesome band

Best song on the album. Literal goosebumps. Percussion work and the synthesizer, vocals and guitars are working together perfectly
Asian influences slowly taking over this terrific song, awesome!
Fantastic album, I need to listen to this a few hundred more times.

It's my least favorite on the album. Still a good song, though.
Mastodon just aging like a fine wine and getting better with every album holy crap
This one is a tearjerker.
Amazing song! Mastodon the best Band in The World.

I cannot bare to believe that you have left this Earth
I couldn't stare as they covered you up with dirt and left
With all the best intent
And all your eloquence
The price we paid to know you
Your smile is stretching from the stars
I am still standing here in solace
I sense the writhing
Peeling off your skin
As the coals burn
We'll walk on fire
The lines you carved remain
Too many days to remember
Too many times have I tried
The price we paid to know you
The price we paid to know you
A dark shadow was cast with your departure
Now dig our way out from this mudslide and survive
With all the best intent
And all your eloquence
The price we paid to know you
Projecting light from beyond
We stare until the bruises soften
Never will there
Be another you
As the sun turns
We hold you tighter
The final curtain calls
How many ways you brought pleasure
How many nights you brought to life
The price we paid to know you
The price we paid to know you
This one needs one of Mastodons epic music videos!
And even more Underworld soundtrack vibes.
Never will there
Be another you
As the Sun turns
We hold you tighter
RIP my dear friend. I hope I see you in the next life.
Brann's little chime hits at 2:00 makes this song sound so epic
The price I paid to know you, indeed. 29 years later, and it still cuts.

In a way that only Mastodon can deliver

For Skyrim! 🐲
Serious Neurosis vibes with this one!!! 🤘🤘
This band has got me through a lot of stuff....Raise Hell!!!!!
They never disappoint
love 0:59 so much. Then again this album in general has even more parts that randomly get stuck in my head than their others somehow.
Best track on the new album. Thanks guys 🤘🏻
pure respect !
How many great songs can you cram onto one album?
Mastadon meets loop guru. Love it
this is awesome!
So much great stuff on this album!
another banger??? goddamn....

So Good! Thanks

Masterpiece 🎉
I just love the dark and creepy vibe from this song.
Damned impressive
Amazing song.
Read the lyrics. This song is clearly about nick johns funeral.
At first it drops as a Maiden sounding track, then the Mastodon appears....
1:10 the percussion on this song is SO FUCKIN GOOD
Any other kgatlw fans out there? This song has that vibe.
This song has a definite touch of Killing Joke to it.
Oh indeed - can hear that in a lot of Mastodon's music. But It's also uniquely Mastodon too. So F'n great!!
this is the best one on the album
I respectfully disagree, but god damn does this song hit while playing games

It LOVE fantastic band leggend EPIC ALBUM TOP 2O21 ++++++
It's a song you want to get lost in. I feel like it reflects where we are now. The whole narrative of this "situation" is failing. Healing is coming.
I'm getting some tool vibes for sure
This remains me of Opeth
It reminds me of Tool (Reflection) with the Sarangi vibes.
2:00 reminds me of The New Tetris on the Nintendo 64.
Blood In Blood Out vibes
am I the only one hearing a bit of Pink Floyd here?
Careful with that Mastadon Eugene………
I love it but I would expect more of this japanese ambiance thourough the track
