Lyrics:
Relentless and inexorable
This menacing creation
That we ourselves conceived
With covetous verve and credulity
Something this intensely profound
Can never be allowed
The fabric and all that holds it
will all burn. It will all be torn down
To contain it in its lair
Pandora's quantum prison
In wave after wave
It will see us fail
Consign to oblivion
This thing we cannot grasp
Bury deep this entity
Unlearn it ever existed
This is our omega. Factitious nemesis
The great dismantler of our dominion
If ever there was a reason
Maintain this greatest lie
That never did we look
into the abysmal eye

Said it before and I'll say it again. I love the fact that this band never massively changed their sound or went soft. I’m a casual metal fan and this album shocked the shit out of me.. never heard of Meshuggah, now I’m thoroughly impressed…. The musical direction is crazy. Like I was expecting a Metallica inspired solo near the end, but it remained monotonous which felt more chaotic…. Brilliant work
Meshuggah is gold and royalty in the metal world.
meshuggah isnt "RAHHHHHH HEAVY" like other guys, I mean of course they are but their music just feels so eldritch and insane compared to other metal bands if that makes sense. Its like the cosmic horror of metal.

I love that the guitars have JUST enough gain. I've noticed in my own 8 string productions that using less gain than you think actually gives you more clarity and tightness and definition than trying to somehow get that with super high gain.
Used to be a well-kept secret with most emulated guitar tones and productions for the longest.
Thanks, Misha. 😐
Ah thanks for this tip. I'd been wondering about how to clean up very-low-end guitar. Will have to mess around.
well by definition, regarding audio at least, too much gain is gonna cause distortion and clipping...took me a long time to figure that out lol
That and having the right pick-ups, so that the intial signal is in that sweet spot with the gain
The reason people use gain is to get sustain. You can get sustain in different ways, like turning it way the hell up for instance!

Yes this band makes life worth living. In 2003 I was travelling south America until 2008. And discovered this band in 2005 with Corridor of Chameleons at a cybercafe on headphones. I was discovering chaosphere, nothing, I and catch 33 while discovering a new land. It's already been such a gift. Truly a gift.
I just went straight to letting them and other metal bands shape my kids directly and that really alleviated a lot of the parenting mode.

I TURNED OUT JUST FINE
Interesting at least to see everyone come onto what I liked in the 90s. But it leaves me alone as I move on
I'm 61 years old and a relatively new fan of Meshuggah's. I checked out Bleed on the recommendation of Bill Burr. He's not wrong. Incredible band. Now I'm checking out more and more. New Mellenium Cyanide Christ is my fave track. Just incredibly soothing and relaxing to stick on headphones and let the music wash over you like a blanket of sound. I actually feel the tension of the day leave my body. Totally relaxing. These guys are the best therapy to a day of driving kids to school and putting up with dumb drivers all day.
Yes, the technicality is fucking amazing. However, no one talks about the lyrics of their songs and how fucking deep and well written they are. Each of their songs are like a thought provoking poem.
There’s lyrics in this song?
Seriously though it is true. Their lyrics are well thought out and sometimes the sheer chaos of the music makes you kind of put what he is saying aside but when you actually know what he is saying and what It means it makes the music even heavier- if that’s even possible!
