    A bit out of my price range and throw distance a little too long at 10' 6" for the room I am building, but very nice projector and I do like the build quality BenQ projectors. Right now I am looking at the Optoma ZU606TST-W which does 16:10 aspect so it fits my 8x12 screen perfectly and the space I am building with a 9'7" throw distance. One thing I found out was you really need to do your homework when it comes to projectors. There are a lot and I mean a lot of options. Less expensive projectors have fewer features for one which can really make a seemingly good deal, not so good of a deal. Nice review with a lot of valuable information for people looking to buy a projector for a golf simulator.

    If this projector was ceiling mounted directly behind the hitting area, would there be any shadows from the hitter or your uneekor eye xo? At what height is it mounted? By the way, both modes look good, but presentation mode gets my vote. Good video thanks always

    • @GarageGolf
      @GarageGolf  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching Culley! Shadows would depend on the height of your ceiling and how far back behind you the projector is mounted. Some trial and error is involved with all of this. If there was a shadow you could use the vertical lens shift to shift the image up above your body provided that it still covers your screen where you need it. You could also try the digital shrink to accomplish this as well. Make sure to check out projector central and their calculators there as it would help some to determine the throw ratio of the projector and how far back it needs to be mounted for your setup to avoid any issues. Hope this helps!

    Thank you for the amazing thorough review, I have a question if I want to project on 300" screen with this projector. I think it has enough lumens to keep it bright enough but do you think there would be an image wrap or I can maintain a 3:4 ratio rectangle even on a 300" screen. Also how far did you have to install it for your size screen

    • @GarageGolf
      @GarageGolf  Před 5 měsíci

      On mine I installed it roughly 14 feet away for about a 192" screen width wise. According to projector central it shows you needing to mount this projector at 21'2" for a 300" wide screen. Going to use the lk936st for golf simulator/home theater. Room is 14' wide with 10.5' ceiling. Want to use the 16:10 for golf and 16:9 for theater. I dont want to mess with focus ring so putting screen on wall for HT and then retractable impact screen 18" in front. Then Im going to use sliding mount for projector to move it forward and back the 18". Hopefully I wont have to mess with focus by doing that. I want max image size so the calculator on benq is a little confusing. At max zoom I want 14' wide screen filled. What would be image dimensions in 16:10 mode vs 16:9? The calculator says both will have 94.5" height. I guess that means for 16:10 mode then it will just shrink width? I was hoping I would gain height with 16:10 mode and keep the width. Also curious if I would have to adjust lens height when switching between 16:10 and 16:9 or will the heigh stay the same and width changes?

    • @GarageGolf
      @GarageGolf  Před 2 lety

      I think that would work well. You could even use the digital shrink feature on the remote if needed instead of moving the projector. If you do move the projector you should not have to adjust the lens again that I'm aware of as the focus should remain clear if the lens has already been adjusted.

    Using the HDMI input in your presentation were you restricted to a 60 hertz scan vs using the Display Port input from your computer and a 4K gaming display card. Would the computer run the display at a better frame rate and a 120 hertz scan? I'm not a computer gamer by any means but I am sure there are subscribers that can help us out in the setup. Good run down on the first view of the projector. Thanks

    I am completely perplexed with a setup of the BenQ LK936ST projector with a SIG 12 screen. They are different dimension ratios, how do I get mine to even come close? If I make the width correct, the image is not tall enough. If I make my height correct, my image is far too wide. Is there a resolution adjustment is need to make? The SIG 12 screen is 149" x 103" with a diagonal of 171", which is completely different than 4K or 1920x1080. What am I missing? Thanks and love your channel!

    • @GarageGolf
      @GarageGolf  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Joe, so there will be some issues here and something will have to give either on the sides or on the top because the Sig 12 screen is basically a 4:3 screen since it is roughly 12 feet wide x 9 feet high. If you put your projector in 16:9 ratio, Projector Central has you mounting your projector at 10'6" from your screen if ceiling mounted which would provide an image 149 inches wide x 84 inches tall. Now you can max that out as much as possible and try using corner correction to bring the width back in after blowing your image out larger than the screen to allow for max height allowed which is one way. If you put your projector in 4:3 mode you would get an image that is 137 inches wide x 103 inches tall (much closer) at a throw distance of 12'11". You could then make the image larger with the zoom if needed and then use corner correction to make it fit almost perfect from there. Let me know if this helps some.

You really think that there are people out there that are willing to spend $10k on a launch monitor that aren't willing to spend $4k on a projector? I have helped at least 10 different people who have bought the LK953ST that is $1k more than this projector. I have also helped about 50 people buy projectors that are under $1k, all they had to do was write me and ask for help. It's not like I'm forcing people to buy any of these products nor am I selling any of these products directly so I don't really get the point you are trying to make here. In addition I'm not even an affiliate for BENQ so I don't make any money on any of the units sold at all. One size and one price does not fit all.
