Wow! I didn't think I needed a 4K for my sim. After seeing this I'm sold. I have a 1080P BenQ in our home theater it's fantastic. Those images were incredible. (Now to justify it to my wife!) 🤯
Hey Brian yeah I thought the same thing and now I'm very spoiled.. the image just looks absolutely incredible. From the colours, brightness and of course the clarity. The first time I used it with putting I could see the contours 🤣 instead of just using the moving white dots I was like oh wow there's a hill there!
This is a good look at set up for the projector
Thanks mate! I have thought about cutting this video up and putting the bit where I actually set it up in a different video.
Cheers
I picked up a BenQ TK850i for my golf simulator and i love it. BenQ has great projectors!
Nice! Yeah that would put out a nice picture. It's crazy now my projected image is better than my laptop screen 🤣
Excited for this
The picture is NEXT level.. absolutely unbelievable. You know its good when your projector looks better than your computer screen! 😂
This is an exceptional review.
Thanks mate! I really appreciate the positive comment.
Sim budget keeps increasing with each video.
🤣🤣 Yes it started with a net and now we're here 🤣🤣 Masters week!! With a 4k projector and an updated Augusta National on GS Pro.
Thanks, whilst I won't be dropping 5 grand on a projector, some great information here on setting up a projector for a golf sim!
Thanks mate! Yes I should maybe make a separate video just showing the set up process.
Cheers
It would be a helpful video. I'm fairly tech savvy but it's been very confusing and time consuming learning about projector types, thow ratios, where to mount the thing etc.
Looks amazing Joe ….hard to find them in UK most probably because they are so good !!
Thanks Peter! Hope your games going well mate.
Brilliant, I have the same projector. Still have a little blur on the left side. My projector is installed far right due to low ceilings. I’m guessing that’s why the left is slightly blurry. I might try to reinstall using your techniques. Either way, this projector is amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Hey use I think there can be slight corner bluring due to setting it up a little offset. But lens shift should minimise this. It is an absolutely incredible projector.. I can't believe the difference between my old one and this.
Great video and the Benq projector is awesome. Just wanted to clarify that in the video you mentioned you could only add custom resolutions with the Nvidia GPU and that is NOT true. AMD video cards also allow custom resolutions to be applied as well in its Adrenaline software.
Hey Kiester thanks for clarifying that! And yes the picture you get is incredible. You know it's good when your projected image looks better than your laptop screen 🤣.
Cheers
I’ve got the same projector. I’ve had it for a week. I’m having a hard time focusing the entire screen. Only half of the screen is clear while the other half is somewhat blurry. I then try and refocus only to get the other half clear and the opposite side goes blurry. Everything is on point as far as leveling projector, I jeven opted out of using digital features such as keystone. My screen is 8x14 and all is leveled. My screen is also kink free. Any input would be appreciated! Ty!
Hey mate you will get some minor distortion if you use any of the software features such as the edge correction to try and make it fit the screen. I know for me because I have my projector slightly off the centre line I use some of the corner correction features so the bottom left of my screen is exactly what you talk about. This is just because I don't have my projector perfectly centred.
Hi Joe, very informative video! Does GSPro allow you to have gameplay running on two screens with different resolutions? Most computer screens and TV's aren't 4:3 so when you duplicate the display onto your computer screen (for aiming etc), I guess you have black bars on the sides. Is that true and if so, is it annoying?
Hey mate thanks for the comment! And yes my laptop has black bars on the sides and to be honest IVs stopped noticing them really. I have a dual monitor set up so my laptop is mirrored to the projector and then I have a separate screen as well connected to my laptop that is 1920x1080 that I can put whatever I want on it.. just drag and drop from the laptop screen.
@@JLagGOLF thanks for the response! Looks like I can get a cheap 19" 4:3 monitor on Amazon to satisfy my OCD, hopefully the quality isn't crap haha
I have a 12x10 screen and can't get the settings close for 16:10, 16:9 I can get the 12 x 7 look or right at it. My projector according to BenQ is at the right distance to set up really close. It is 129" away from screen and that should be about 143 wide and around 91" tall but I can't get that at all, has to be configuration on my part. Any help would be great, 16:9 is working fine but could gain more height with the 16:10 would love to do so. TY
Hey mate the biggest thing if you're trying to do a custom resolution is that your picture needs to fill the screen vertically. So to do this you just need to keep moving it back until your image is completely filled top to bottom. Then after that you can bring the sides in by using the custom resolution. Hope that helps.
@@JLagGOLF Helped a lot for me to understand, TY. Have great rest of your day. I enjoy your videos keep them coming.
@@wmrat1969 Thanks mate! Same to you
With the custom aspect ratio do you get distortion or clipping?
No you don't get any distortion or clipping. What causes distortion with these is if you offset them and then have to do the corner adjustment through the software.
Cheers
Does AMD graphic card not work like NVidia?
It should do mate! I'm sure it could do the same thing but I don't have one so cant 100 percent confirm.
What are the dimensions of your screen?
Hey mate I put all the specs of my build in this video.

The actual impact screen size is 12 X 9 feet.
Cheers
nice projector but for 9k makes for an expencive simulator room
Look it is expensive in comparison to the cheaper projectors but the picture quality is second to none. I should have specified that's Australian prices it retails for $4,900 USD. I can't wait to play Augusta this week while watching the masters! 🤣
