If we’re talking about food commercials, Cinnamon Toast Crunch always creeped me out. THEY LITERALLY EAT EACH OTHER!! Finn’s bad, but at least he doesn’t go that far (yet)
YES! That has always disturbed and me and made me not ever want to eat them.
Since we’re talking creepy cereal mascots, I have two words for you, Crazy Craving. This Honeycomb mascot was literally an eldritch horror that took over children’s minds, mutating them into bug-eyed rodents that only wanted the sweet taste of toasted honey.
Same thing with Krave where it seems like a race thing in their commercials, while cinnamon toast crunch is straight up cannibalism. It's almost like these commercials are subtly tackling some real world issues, which is interesting if true

My addiction to Goldfish crackers makes Matpat's Diet Coke love look tame by comparison. I can honestly say at least 15 - 20% of my solid body mass was once those cheesy crackers.

I seriously thought that was a fever dream i had as a child because no one else knew what i was talking about
I mean, this could be another M&Ms scenario, where the talking versions of the snack are higher, more intelligent beings while the snack is just modeled after them. The goldfish that Finn is serving up doesnt have facial expressions or talk like the rest of them, so they could be this universe's form of cattle, and possibly ethical to eat(?).
There’s a dystopian novel originally published in Argentina where there’s humans and “cattle humans.” It’s really good, I recommend!

What I love about these channels is that matpat will reach some extremely outlandish seeming statement, but when you see the evidence it just kinda, makes sense.

I'm guessing MatPat saw Ollie eating a few too many "fish biscuits" (as my son calls them, from the crackers the Octonauts eat -- Film Theory crossover!) and came up with this.
That said, those pretzel goldfish dipped in peanut butter sound fantastic! I'm going to have to grab a bag next time we go grocery shopping (we usually just get the Costco-sized box for our son and we're good for a month or so).

Honestly if any commercials have reoccurring characters there’s a high chance for lore, but I don’t know what channel that would go on. Are tampons considered style? I guess if you say they’re commercials they can go on film theory.

Yeah it is pretty much always disturbing when a food mascot character wants to be eaten. It always reminds me of that scene from "Young Sherlock Holmes" where Watson is hallucinating that all the pastries in the donut shop are trying to force themselves into his mouth. It's one of the most disturbing scenes in a movie ever. I think the worst part is that this hallucination is taking part in a mausoleum, I think. So there isn't any actual food there.. just dead things.

Here in the Netherlands fish crackers of several brands have been a part of pretzel style party mixes for as long as my grandparents would care to remember, but they've never tasted like any sort of cheese what so ever (except for a very short lived batch in the American isle in giga supermarkets). It's fun to see how something from Europe became so big everywhere in the world except for in Europe itself.

Once at a sleepover at a summer camp, me and some other kids were told that we didn't have to go to bed as long as we were quiet. So we made a pentagram out of gold fish and started to circle it. The councilor walked in on us and then I assume questioned his entire reality. He asked us what was happening and someone said that we were summoning Finn the goldfish from the goldfish commercials. The councilor then brought almost every other councilor to show them what we were doing.
Edit: This is my favorite memory from this camp, and very few people that I went to camp with know about this.

@anthonyortiz350 we all had a lot of energy after about 20 minutes of talking one kid said "we can do anything as long as we're quiet" and so the person who was eating the gold fish said "we should try to summon the talking goldfish from the commercials." So we all get out of our bunks and spend like 5-10 minutes trying to construct the pentagram. After the councilor checked in on us, half of us (including me) were laughing too hard to do any more, but the other half kept on circling the pentagram.
