    • @real_armadillo
      @real_armadillo Před 8 lety +54

      +Chantelle Adlington Freddie has never and can never be replaced. The guest singer, as they're called, is never a part of Queen. It's always Queen + the singer's name. Now for instance it's Queen + Adam Lambert, and before that it was Queen + Paul Rodgers.
      You can always argue whether it's right or wrong to still go under the name of Queen since, let's face it, Freddie was Queen. In a way I think it's great to keep the name active so that many young listeners gets a chance to familiarize themselves with Queen and Freddie and carry on his spirit and legacy.

    I love this song and that it was written for Mary Austin. He was in love with her however sexually he was never going to feel satisfied with her because she was a woman hence why the secret love affairs with men started. (Although his friends did say that they did make love when they was a couple ) He was emotionally connected with her and she was the love of his life but he was bisexual and sexually, freddie was not satisfied by women so he was really homosexual though he never felt like discussing it. But you know sometimes the heart doesn’t really see whether you’re a girl or a boy which was clearly Mary and Freddie’s situation. He found a good relationship at the end of his life and he loved his boyfriend however it was never going to be like with Mary because he was in love with her. He knew he couldn’t give her the life she deserved, faithfulness, a family etc so he let her go which is a very beautiful and tragic love story in the end. Because you could notice whenever she talks about him and he about her or when they were together that freddie still wanted her in some level, a more deep level but they couldn’t have each other like they wanted. The best proof of love is letting go and not being selfish and put the other first. Which they did. So in the end it didn’t matter if physically they weren’t together. Like freddie said it was like a marriage. To him, She was his wife. They were together in a much deeper way which is very beautiful.

    I think it's funny people who say they were born in the wrong generation because they love old music so much. You don't realize that you exist in the time where we have every great performance from all history's greatest bands recorded and available FOR FREE on youtube that we can listen to over and over again through high quality headphones or speakers. In the 60's 70's 80's, if you missed a big concert, maybe you just never got to hear it, or if you did it was through janky 70's speakers at the discretion of some DJ. Maybe we didn't get to be there, but we can all listen to it here on a moments notice, and take it with us in the car or on an airplane. I also understand that the culture and life was different in different eras, but I have a feeling it wasn't quite as different as you imagine it to be in your head.

    I was at Manchester (Maine road stadium) and Knebworth, on this tour (Magic tour). Couldn't get a ticket for Wembley because they sold out 2 nights in a matter of a couple of hours. This is 1986, no internet remember. That would have been 3 gigs on the same tour. They were magical magical moments that i will take to my grave.

    I like living in this generation, with all the technological advances and what not, but one thing that I have to say is that concerts back in the 60's-90's were so much more soulful and exciting. Here you can truly see and feel the crowd enjoying what was presented to them. Quite a lot of the concerts that are on today are very good in their own right and there's still a lot of very talented performers out there but so far no one's been as passionate and energetic as Freddie Mercury was, or Queen for that matter. There's still some great music that's being produced but I feel that as a whole bands and signers just cared more back then, it's mostly the case now where people have their songs written for them and they just pretty up and dance on stage and then they collect the pay cheque. I really hope that someday I can see someone put in as much passion as Queen did and truly immerse themselves in what they love doing: singing and playing music.

    Freddie mercury had that rare gift inherent in a lot of great artists, and that is the sense that he is singing directly to to you, that whatever you feel in terms of loneliness, despair, or many of the other emotions that we humans are susceptible to, that in the great performances of the magnificent music he produced he is standing by your side, as well as being one of the greatest performers this world has produced Freddie lived hi's music you are not alone he is at your side, Freddie mercury lives!

      Paul Barker Very well said. Freddie’s complexity as a human being is so mesmerizing and endearing. Despite his wealth, success, INSANE talent, etc, you never doubt that he fully understands the depths of loneliness, pain, heartbreak. When Whitesnake sang the words “here I go again on my own”, I never felt that David Coverdale was actually going to be alone for very long at all - maybe an evening? 😂 But, knowing a bit about Freddie’s often sad personal life, there is tremendous sincerity in his music and interviews.
