    Very helpful. And clear guidance. Useful to compare different recording situations - out and about with phone, or at the desk with a desktop - as well as the sound quality.

    using a BOYA BY-WM4 wifi lav mike - both on mbile phone and on USB C computer - both very nice sound quality and gives you an amazing 60 meter reception distance...
    Thanks for the video - gave me the confidence to try on computer !
    My Lenovo does have one quirk though - it connects the coya both as a mike and as a speaker set lol. No problem returning to computer speakers while retaining the boya mike.

      Yeah, I'm wondering if the Samsung isn't handling the digital audio well. If anyone has another brand of phone and can try out the boya that might make a good comparison. I was really surprised!

    Certainly doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the Rode.
    And the 6 meter cable is just rediculous.
    Maybe good enough as a cheap backup lav.

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Před 3 lety

      Totally agree. I think I prefer the onboard mics on the phone TBH, as long as I'm close. What did you think about the difference between the BOYA on the phone Vs on the computer?

      I used the 3.5 mm version of the Boya and will buy the USB C next. Since I do outdoor videos, the cable length was a bonus. To each their own!

      @KitBetts-Masters  Před 2 lety

      Thanks so much! Yes the phone can influence it in a couple of ways, but I suspect that because it's a digital input most phones will do pretty well with the digital signal processing and give a good rendition. Glad to help!

    Are there any SMALL condenser (cardioid) mics that'd be good for picking up ambient sound like wind (in trees), rain, birds and thunder? I want to use it to casually listen to ambient sound via headphones on my PC,.. the mic would be connected to a USB cable some 30-35ft away.
    I've seen some mics but they're HUGE and definitely too big to fit to my external wall (under an eave, it wouldn't get wet!). Any advice or recommendations please? Thanks. Budget = LOW (

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Před 2 lety

      I think you're best going with one of the wee zoom handy recorders for this purpose.

    • @SceneArtisan
      @SceneArtisan Před 2 lety +1

      @@KitBetts-Masters it HAS to be USB, the mic will be outside (under an eave, always connected) and my PC is indoors. It can't be a handheld or have batteries or I'll be out there anyway which is not what my goal is. I'm not recording, I'd be listening through headphones when sat at my pc. Make sense now?
      Anything more suitable you'd recommend? Thanks. :)
