- We were in the Netherlands for their extra day parkrun and headed to the gorgeous city of Haarlem to run Schoterbos parkrun. The team at this parkrun were absolutely fantastic and for a relatively small park there is an awful lot to see and do! The icing on the cake might just be that there is a hostel in the park itself so you can literally have parkrun on your doorstep!
Poppy loved the playgrounds, the chalk drawings on the floor and the outdoor gym. Our run director John was fantastic and went above and beyond to make us tourists feel welcome. There were several run directors from other parkruns in Holland there to run too which was really lovely. All in all a brilliant parkrunday!

Just watched this and the Amsterdam Bos video - thanks for producing. I love the netherlands - it's so easy to travel around. Haarlem looked a little like Delft where I was this Whit Monday.
I love the Netherlands too... Thinking I might need to visit all of their gorgeous parkruns! Just need to win the lottery first 🤣

I've been watching your videos for a while now, but it's been a while since your videos popped up in my recommendations. That is until now, when you decided to check out my country :) Glad you enjoyed Haarlem and got to add our flag to the list! Really enjoyed your pronunciation of Schoterbos as well haha

Awesome video! So cool that you and poppy could visit our local parkrun. John and the rest of the volunteers and runners are building such a cool and friendly event. I'm so proud to be a part of it. I'm actually Paul the banana! Haha. Shame I didn't meet you.. it would have been fun. I made an impromptu show to the event.. I was marathon when I looked at my watch and figured I could include the parkrun during it. So straightaway I was off to carry on running.
Hopefully I'll meet you two sometime at a different event.

Wonderful Parkrun Nicola, loved the motivational chalk messages. Two things - a banana with a Go-Pro sounds very Dutch and you are NEVER too old for a cookie

For Whit Monday it was between Schoterbos & Kagerzoom for me. I opted for Kagerzoom, but I’ll probably come to Haarlem next year. It looks lovely!

Cool video Nicola. Thanks for taking us along. It's been a LONG time since I've been to the Netherlands, let alone Europe. I'm from the western US, so I love seeing your ParkRun tourism and follow-up city tour. You definitely do a good job capturing the local elements. Always nice to have a budget friendly event to take part in and meet people along the way. Looking forward to the next one.

@@NicolaRuns cool. Not many park runs in the Us I am afraid. Most races are commercial or local cities put them on at a budget price. If you ever make it to salt lake city -- you'd have a fan out here. Best wishes.
