In the last two months Microsoft has uninstalled my Windows Media Player. I am on Windows 10. I turn on my computer in the morning and it requires me to do the long form login. Once it's running Windows Media Player is gone. I've turned off automatic updates. Still Microsoft gains access and uninstalls. I now have your video bookmarked and use it regularly. Thank you SO MUCH for your video. It is clear, concise, and it works!
Excellent, thanks. I uninstalled it and playing an mp3 was redirecting me to the windows store and installing it from there, which does nothing. Your method works
If I uninstall and reinstall, will it automatically repopulate WMP with all my music and playlists? I have a lot of music and playlists on WMP as I'm a radio DJ. Thanks for any info in advance.

This may have worked once, but not now. I have a new install of Win10 and I'm finding my way around (My main OS is and will remain XP) WMP isn't listed with the other programs, it is there though I've used it rather than the even worse 'media player' or the - more adverts please 'Film& TV'. Removing WMP12 seems near impossible. I think maybe only the firm who set up the PC can do it -'trusted installer'- This is infuriating I can understand protecting the OS, it is NT after all, but not WMP. I would really like to install the last good version - WMP11- but it doesn't seem I'll be able to. I'll be fine with MPC but it irks me to have this crippled version on my new, second hand box.
I tried everything and nothing fix the issue I am having my issue is that when I use my Logitech speaker the video I play on the window media player sound very low there is sound coming out but like a 1%low volume even if I max everything but when I use the tv option I can hear the sound clear but not with my Logitech speaker but when I go youtube or online I can hear sound perfectly on my speakers but not on window media player I run a diagnose on it but it says media library corrupt I tried all those methods to and still no fix to the issue ever since I did that window update I'm having issue now I'm on window 10 can you help I tried the uninstall and reinstall it to see if it would fix the corrupt file but nothing same issue can you help or any other suggestion?

thx. for some reason the optional features page is not accessible without looking it up it in the search bar, they make all these silly changes in updates for some reason. Windows 10 is still the worst blight on the face of this place, what an abomination
You could Open Powershell as an administrator then run the following command to uninstall it Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -FeatureName "WindowsMediaPlayer" -All -Online Then run this command to install it Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -FeatureName "WindowsMediaPlayer" -All -Online
Good Question, some people may have a problem with it and need to reinstall it, also some hard drives especially SSD's are now very small compared to what they were before and if you don't use WMP then you may as well uninstall it and reclaim the space.

Yes it should do as the music would be stored separately from the program.
Thanx😀 From Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Straight to the point, clear as day. Thanks man!

Uninstalled the tried to reinstall but installation failed it says.
Perhaps try going to a command prompt run as an admin and then type sfc /scannow to check for corrupt files.

I am sorry to hear of your frustrations.
Try the new best AIX Video Player, which is far superior to all others.
Thanks for the tip.
I don't get the 'optional features' option, just the 'App execution aliasis' . Anyone else ?
It could be called Turn Windows Features on or off.

how do i make it work cause it doesn’t work for me
Sorry to hear it did not work, I can only assume your operating system is corrupted and needs reinstalling.
Thank you! My media player kept popping up every time I pressed a key. FYI it worked in Windows 11
Glad I could help
*Thank you, Chris, thank you!!!*

It is completely gone, and doesn't show up in the optional features.
You could Open Powershell as an administrator then run the following command to uninstall it
Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -FeatureName "WindowsMediaPlayer" -All -Online
Then run this command to install it
Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -FeatureName "WindowsMediaPlayer" -All -Online
Very helpful Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
after this it's showing failed
I can only assume your windows is corrupted! You need to get someone to take a look at it.
sick video mate
Thank you!
thank you very much
Your Welcome!
It says install failed. Idk why?
I think your system maybe corrupted, you will probably need to reinstall Windows 10.
is not showing up for me
I am afraid if it’s not showing in the list it might not be possibly to uninstall.
fixed it had to reboot it so I could install it again@@cwtek1
This said failed when i did it
It sounds like your Copy of Windows may have corrupt files, you would be best to take it to a professional to take a look at it!
@@cwtek1 Thank you

UNINSTALL & REINSTALL it ??!!
