- The New York Islanders scored three times in the second period including two goals in 13 seconds to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 and advance to the second round with a 4-2 series win.

I laughed really hard (I was mad all game because I’m a Pens fan) when they pulled Jarry for the extra man and that’s how Brock Nelson gets robbed of his hat trick. 😂

The difference was leadership. Pens Captain Crosby was invisible when it came to that. Couldn’t settle the team down and just didn’t take charge. If the Pens won the big media finger would be pointed right at him calling him a great leader. The Pens lost so the media finger is pointed away from Crosby. Ever notice how that works? 🤷🏼
Sens fan here still cheering for Pageau. Loved having him here and great to see he is still a big game player.

@@jacobvandenberghe4222 Yeah, problem is that the borders are still shut down at Niagara Falls/Buffalo so Leaf fans from Toronto cannot even drive across like they usually do…but yeah, I guess it could still be an option. So lame how Canada will not allow any fans given that COVID numbers are dropping drastically, especially in ON/Toronto…it will be a totally unfair advantage if the Canadian team has to play in an empty home arena while the US team gets all the energy from a rocking crowd…I would say the same if the tables were reversed…not a CAN VS US thing…just a sport thing in terms of fairness etc.

ngl as a european football (soccer lol) fan this crowd really does have a great passion to it, really nice to see!
Islander fans take some pointers from football (soccer). They prepare songs and chants to sing before the game online and get everyone going.

Penguins controlled a lot of the play in this series. They had leads that they couldn't hold. Goaltending was the difference. Rooting for the Isles going forward, but Jarry doesn't play for Boston.
Islanders were the better team in games 3, 4 and 6. Pens were slightly better in game 1. Pens were better in games 2 and 5. Islanders stole game 5 and the Pens stole game 3. It was not as lopsided as you are noting

The Islanders are a tough team to play would have been a better match up for pitt if they did not win the division but it happens every year in hockey we all love playoff hockey but the regular season is just entertainment it does not mean much.
Amazing series, each game is a masterpiece, the Penguins rival is very worthy. I revise it several times. Today is a victory for NY, thanks to the guys from the Devils. 14 Travis Zajac separately.

@@skunkycatog they sat fleury cuz he wasn’t playing well and Murray was the much younger goaltender and was playing well. Same reason they let him go. They couldn’t keep both so do you keep the 22 year old who just won two cups with you or the 32 year old you had to sit? It was the right decision at the time even though it didn’t work out.
It wasn’t dumb at all. You just don’t know what you’re talking about. In hindsight did it work out? No. But it was 100% the best decision at that time.

@@domotrizz5710 Jarry was pretty much the sole reason for two out of the four losses, and didn't steal any game whatsoever. Crosby was poor defensively in the last game, but he's still one of the best. Major difference.
Jarry is nothing more then a backup goalie that can come in and do a good job during the regular season to hold the fort but he doesn't have that next level few goalies have come playoff time!

Hi, everyone I have a question about the Islanders second goal. Commentator said that it's terrible play by Jarry. If puck came from blue line it should be directed to the corners. So, is there some kind of goalie skills (maybe it's very easy to do, I really don't know) or technique to process puck and send it to the corners?

I'm a huge Pens fan so it stings but two main reasons why Penguins lost was 1. They got out hit and out muscled and 2. Sorokin was better than Jarry.

Pretty soft play by Guentzel at 5:11. Doesn't excuse the soft goal but it shows the importance of mistakes/lack of effort that can lead to goals.
