The Islanders defensive coverage in their on end is pretty impressive.

That’s how Columbus beat them in 19. Got a lead then played dump and defend the rest of the time. Was quite boring, but it worked

@@domotrizz5710 yeah it was all poweplay goals I don’t even think Tampa had but 3, 5-5 goals the entire series so they wouldn’t have won if the refs called playoff penalties but they chose to call every little thing unlike today’s game

As a Pens fan, I’m rooting for the Islanders. They play with a lot of heart and grit. Plus, who doesn’t like a good underdog story?

This is good. Great defense, great goaltending, grit on offense. The Islanders know they're playing the champs, and they're bringing it accordingly.
The last 4 goalies in playoffs are all God Tier Goaltenders.
I think it would be really hard to find a year where a goalie wasn’t extremely hot and he made it to the semi finals, this is why the goalie is the most important player by far
I'm not sure i would say price is god tier. He is doing great in the playoffs but he lacks consistency in the regular season.

Not gonna lie, seeing a Canadiens/Islanders Cup would be frigging epic, especially since this is the ONLY chance we'll ever get to see that pairing. I mean, a Canadiens/Lightning Cup would also be pretty awesome too, for the same reasons as above, but I still wanna see Canadiens/Islanders more.

Isles are the most versatile team in the league right now..they play every aspect of the game, hit, forecheck, defense...4 lines all in on the trotz system..if you think its boring maybe you should have a look at the tampa fans...what a lively bunch that was

I disagree VGK have and overall better 4 lines and roll them pretty well. The islanders and vgk defence are on even par. Though the islanders have the better coach in Trotts. If islanders and vgk both move on it will be a battle of 2 great depth teams.
Just wait until the series comes to Long Island!! The tradition is still there from the 80’s all the dads and grandpa’s have raised the new generation on those cups! Now they see what all the memories were built from.
@@kmiller1341 i think its great the old players like gillies, bossy, and butch goring are still hanging around and very involved in the coliseum as well as with the fanbase. I think it would be such an honor for this new team to win a cup and share it one more time with these islander legends

Solid all around effort for the Isles. As a Penguins fan, I have a lot of respect for the grit and hard work from this team. I would love them to beat Tampa and maybe (just maybe) end that long cup drought.

Early in the 1st Tampa looked so fast but the Islanders seemed to outwork them and the speed differential was neutralized. I’m really hoping that the defense holds up and the Islanders are able to keep up the pressure throughout the series and win.
We completely flipped the script from Game 1 last year to Game 1 this year!

Born in 82 so I’ve only known the rough road of being an islander with only occasional flashes of a playoff berth through the 90’s. Not to mention the assortment of different “owners”. But the last 3 years have been the most fun to watch them play. They’ve certainly grown together as a unit and to see them be recognized as having star players is even better. This also being the last year in the barn, it’d be one hell of an exit party to get one more banner up on the rafters!! Let’s Go Islanders!!!!

As a Star's fan, I'm rooting for the Islanders here! I've been sick for a year after watching the Bolts win the Cup last year due primarily to an injury depleted Stars lineup. Come on Isles, send these jokers home with their $18M cap advantage!!!

Another Trotz-coached team that is impressive...how I miss the Trotz era here in Nashville. I honestly dunno how to evaluate this series...I picked TBL once again but it would almost be a poetic slap to the face of our organization and fanbase to possibly see Shea Weber vs Trotz in the SCF. Lol.
I'm honestly hoping MTL pulls through against expansion-handed-contender VGK to see that. Truthfully, I'd rather see any of the three in the SCF except the team that should piss off every other expansion city since 1992.

this is the last year of the nassau county coliseum.The coliseum will be bonkers knowing our team could close out the coliseum with another stanley cup 38 years after the last one.With all the mismanagement ,being called laughingstocks for so many years still being a underdog every series.We are the greatest dynasty in the history of professional sports..its like we went from living in the most beautiful mansion to being homeless...thats how life can be.The fans who have stuck with the team through all the ridicule ..this ones for you.

Wow, props to Varlamov and Vasilevskiy is a tough goal tender to beat. Anyone else notice that both their names start with V? Coincidence? I think not!

I’d feel worse about the fact that the Islanders drafted Griffin Reinhart 4th overall in the same year where Vasilevskiy went 12th if it weren’t for the fact that Reinhart was the guy they traded to the Oilers for the 16th overall pick in 2015, which they used to draft Mat Barzal (and the 33rd, which we used on some guy I’ve never heard of).
