- Steven Stamkos, Patrick Maroon and Ondrej Palet had a goal and an assist each and Andrei Vasilevskiy turned aside 37 shots as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-2 to cut their series deficit to 2-1 in the Stanley Cup Final.

Yup. Avs probably still win the Cup but at least the Bolts will make it interesting. Reason Avs will prevail is the home altitude advantage, and they have 4 at home. So I'm thinking probably the home teams win all their games. But who knows? That's why we play the games right?

Paul's toe save on the follow-up centering pass should not be ignored...that's huge for a goalie recovering from a double save like that.

Outstanding game from Tampa here. No idea where this series is gonna go next but I’m here for it. So much action, twists, and turns
I can tell you that IF AVS win next game, it's over for the Bolts. No way will AVS go up 3-1 and lose the next 3 games. Game 4 is going to be very interesting. Honestly, I didn't think either team played all that great last night. AVS just looked really bad like the Bolts did in game 2 and Bolts took advantage of it. Message for BOTH teams. STAY OUT OF THE PENALTY BOX!! Those penalties could be what cost you a game and in turn cost you the Cup.
Avs fan here, we played horrible tonight and the lightning did a great job to capitalize in front of their home crowd. Even after last game I wasn’t about to sleep on the lightning for a second, and tonight showed why. This is shaping up to be an incredible series, may the best team win!

No Colorado did not play horribly, but as I wrote above, Tampa played better and Vasilevskiy played up to his standards. Unlucky was the disallowed goal, the game may have turned differently

My old coach used to tell us the way to beat a team that's faster than you is with passing. I'll never forget him yelling at us, "THEY CAN'T SCORE IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE PUCK!" You pass, you make them skate, you burn their legs to dust.

The game audio and announcers for this channel BLOW AWAY the biased and flat coverage by ESPN. Whenever both teams did something there was balanced and fair excitement, not one sided calls, for the love of hockey. Kudos.

the second goal was a beauty of a rush
all the greats, even Patrick Roy for the Avs had his bad games. That game seven against Detroit in the conference finals from his last season where he gave up 7. It happens.
So many blocked shots by Tampa. They can never be counted out.
I feel my body hurt with all the blocked shots but blocking shots is a an indication of a good team.
Yeah every single one is fully putting body on line speaks volumes. Paul is proving to be a monster pickup. Tampa has done this every series they figure you out and then they start checking you tight and Playing excellent offense and good goaltending and next thing you know Tampa is right back in and winning the series. Did it against the Leafs, did it against the Rangers and they had Florida figured out from the start and swept them,

I knew Tampa wasn't gonna roll over and die at home, but the Avs looked like the Flames against Edmonton. No energy, nervous, shaky, and when they weren't unfortunately the goaltender against them was Andrei Vasilevskiy. This was a good response game from Tampa on the whole, and Colorado needs to do better Game 4 if they want even a chance to beat Tampa in game 4.

I started watching again after a 20 year break about 5 years ago. I was initially disgusted with goalie pad sizes ….but that initial reaction to the modern game has been eliminated now…it’s simply the most exciting sport, with the exception of steel darts. I watch highlights of all sports…but nhl hockey is all highlights…I wish they’d extend these another ten minutes for he Stanley cup. Go dynasty. Go tampa.

While I'm happy they responded with an ass beating, it wasn't even close. Vasy came alive for game 3 or else is would have been much closer. Game 2 was a Webster's definition of "domination" all around. They can't forget that.

Paul has been a very consistent player for us. Even in game 2 when we got humiliated, he seemed to be the only bright spot. Always plays hard. Even Palat was messing up, and if Palat is messing up the little things, you know we're in for a rough night.

I seriously can't remember the last time Kuemper made a really good save this post-season. You know when the other team gets a breakaway or left wide open in front, there's usually that excited sense of hope that maybe your goalie will make a save? I haven't felt that in a long time. My a-hole clinches every time a puck is slightly moving toward the net lately.
Kuemper is Jekel and Hyde.....looks great at times and then horrible at other times. Last night Hyde showed up.

the more I think about it this series reminds me of the 82-83 Stanley Cup final between the New York Islanders and the young fast Edmonton Oilers. Critics etc wrote off the Islanders.... BUT their character and grit with skill rose up above just skill and they transcended sports and almost one 5 in a row .... see this for the first time almost 40 years later..... it's magic to see them silence the critics.... just hope the Kucherev injury doesn't dis rail there drive for 3.........
Lightning are starting to play much better. If they tie this series in game 4, they have to be favoured having being there and done it so many times before unlike the Avs. Avs REALLY needed that game 1 OT win looking back now.

Correct! The lightning had to play game 3 as if it were their last in the series. If they had lost game 3 it would have been absolutely over for them. Not to mention game 2, 7-0 history in the Stanley cup finals of one of the worst blowouts.

6 of the 7 goals scored in game 2 were initial shots. Very uncharacteristic of Vasilevsky. I give credit to Colorado for the relentless pressure all game long but the Lightning showed in game 3 how to beat them. Now the Bolts will have to step it another notch or and show the Avs what it takes to win a Stanley Cup.
@@Boltsfan22 exactly cooper made the right changes i think. I need to be a little more complimentary the avs are a great team but as you somewhat mentioned any team can be beat and the bolts showed how to do that. You gotta forecheck win that battle inbetween the blue lines and play good positional hockey against them they don’t really know what to do. And i noticed they had a bolt around the goalie all game now too. They have definitely exposed the avs. I hope Kucherov is ok and plays tomorrow.

Part of me doesn't want to see another team ever win 3 in a row BUT I am admire the character, grit and commitment to winning that hasn't been seen in 40 years... shades of the never say die New York Islanders...... you gotta love Tampa's resolve just as the critics are putting them to bed......they seem to have something greater than just a super fast skilled, crisp young team like the Av's.... Very few see the intangible of heart, grit, character that it takes to win 3 in a row before and after the salary cap history.... it's transcends sports...... it's special to see this .. Coach Cooper predicted that the Av's couldn't sustain the pace they were playing at in the first 2 games. Are we seeing some of that now? I don't know, I'm a neutral observer.
i don't know really but it's just 1 game and they still got shut out 7-0 last game.
Obviously I'm a Tampa fan so I have a bit of bias, but the reason other teams don't play as fast as Colorado isn't because they can't, but rather because its extremely difficult to sustain that over 3 periods of play. Although I will admit they're probably the fastest team overall in the last decade, the only team ironically who comes close was Tampa in 2015/16.

A couple of defensive mistakes by Colorado, one disallowed goal for a one milimetre offside, improved Tampa Bay and much better goaltending by Vasilevskiy.

That was a good bounce back victory for Tampa which they desperately needed. Maybe they’ll do what they did to us (Rangers) in the last round and even the series up at home and take full control from there. Regardless it’s going to be a heck of series from here on out...

I love me some Vasy, but he's got a whole career ahead of him where he needs to play like this consistently to be fully considered the goat. This is akin to the whole "Mahomes is the next goat at QB" discussion.

Avs got beat solid. Tampa skated faster and Colorado couldn't seem to keep them out of the slot. The Avs can win game 4 no problem if they keep Tampa out of that slot and pick up the pace.

If Tampa continues to play trap defense, picking up the pace is not an option. End to end speed gets a team many more wins in the reg. season than playoffs, in the latter it's quickness that matters.

As an Avs fan, I fully agree. I think any real hockey fan knew that despite the last game the lightning aren’t a team to sleep on. A lot of Avs players had a terrible night tonight but I’ll tip my hat to the lightning for tonight’s performance, great game and hoping for an incredible series. May the best team win!
