I forgot about this song! But it was on the radio EVERYWHERE in the early 90’s. She also had a hit called “The Rose” - a track from the movie of the same name. And also “You Are the Wind Beneath My Wings” from the movie “Beaches.” Very emotional music.
Bette Midler is a wonderful singer and actress. With Halloween around the corner...you need to watch Hocus Pocus. She is in that movie. You can look up other movies she is in, that was the first that came to mind.

I remember when she sang The Wind Beneath My Wings right after 9/11, at a memorial concert for the families of the people who died. Everybody in Yankee Stadium was crying. I was crying at home. I still cry watching it now.
Same - I watched it live. The whole world was in shock at the 9/11 tragedy and in awe of the 1st responders who were her audience that day. You can clearly see they are traumatized - so many in tears and so much more work to do.
As someone already mentioned “ I put a spell on you” it’s remake she did in the movie Hocus Pocus. It’s sequel is coming out soon n Disney +
They call her "the divine miss M" She has been singing music and clubs stadium's TV shows movies since the 1970s, Some of the best movies were the eighties and nineties with her in him. She does lots of ballads but she is so funny, She did one that was.... Boogie woogie bugle boy! And she brought the 40 spirit back.

This song was covered & made popular by Bette Midler in 1990 during the Gulf War. Such a tragic time. This song was the anthem of Hope and Peace and totally resonates to the times we are in right now. Great song! Thanks for reviewing it.

Love this song. I learned this song in sign language when I was a child. Wish I still remembered how to do it.

The Divine Miss M has been a force of nature since the world woke up to what some of us had already known in the seventies. So many increible vocalists have been her back up singers throughout the years. And for goodness sake, icon Barry Manilow started out as her piano player/arranger. If you want to get an idea of her talent, you need to go way back before the nineties.

I would like to see you react to Kim Carnes "Draw of the Cards" from 1981. I had completely forgotten about this song but heard it yesterday for the first time in years and remembered I really liked hearing it on radio.. The video is crazy, reminds me of possible Halloween scenes. There are short and long versions of it.
"From a Distance" brings back fond memories. It was the last song I remembered my mom saying she loved the song which was surprising because she was mostly into country music.
Besides being a great singer some of her movies are the funniest I've ever seen.
Guaranteed you know her from her role as the lead sister in Hocus Pocus.

Does anyone else view the Divine Miss M as possibly Mother Nature? I blame this on author Piers Anthony, but from his science fiction novel Being a Green Mother, I have always pictured Bette as Orb, who blesses the world with her music, then later in life becomes Mother Nature. Bette Midler is such a beautiful soul!

This was a nice song when I was a kid but Bette Midler went liberal(based on her actions) and got disrespectful towards conservatives when she was on The View. So yeah not my favorite person but still God loves her and hope she finds her way to the faith she seems to have once had.
