My Grandaddy. He married my Nana in 1953 and 3 days later, was informed to report for deployment to Korea. In Korea, he jumped chest first on top of a Fragmentation Grenade and was subsequently taken a POW. He taught me everything I know about being a selfless person. I will be celebrating 16 years as a volunteer firefighter in August. I would NOT want it any other way.

"Beaches" is one of my favorite movies ever. I cry EVERY single time. I LOVE Bette Midler. You should see her movie "The Rose". OMG Twon. 1979 she plays a rock star with drug & alcohol issues. It's loosely based on Janis Joplin. Bette is such a talented singer & actress. I adore her. ❤ I'm glad you reacted to her.

If you loved the movie "Beaches" then you must read the novel "Beaches" by Iris Rainer Dart and the sequel to it entitled "I'll Be There" it's the story of what happens with C.C. and Whitney's daughter. It's every bit as funny and heartbreaking as Beaches.
Twon - this will help - Beaches is about two little girls from VERY different worlds who happen to meet on the boardwalk in NJ. One is rich, beautiful, & well mannered - the other (Bette) is already a little stage performer but poor & less attractive than Hillary. They promise to always be friends & write. They are essentially pen pals and the rich one (Hillary) becomes a lawyer & Bette climbs her way to become semi-famous (at this point) Hillary's life falls apart & they reunite finally. Oh Lord. 🤦♀️ What a pair they are. Hillary is very jealous of Bette's talent - but Bette has always been jealous of her beauty! In the end, Hillary gets very sick & is dying. Bette takes her back to the beach to live out her last days there. This is the song that plays as you see the funeral happening. All you hear is this song. 😢😢😢 It's so beautiful though. Bette is saying that although I am a huge, huge star - YOU (Hillary) were always "The Wind Beneath My Wings" my whole life.

I “still” cry when I hear this song. My dad passed away several years ago. He was the strongest, wisest person I ever knew. He was ALWAYS there for me and my family, NOMATTER WHAT. He battled cancer and was so strong through it all, and he never complained. His faith stayed strong, even when they told him the treatments weren’t working anymore. He was and will always be “my” hero, and the wind beneath my wings. Thanks for doing this reaction!

Shortly after September 11, 2001 , Bette Midler appeared with other artists at Yankee Stadium NYC. It was an event for victims and families of our murdered Americans. Not sure you will remember that time. The tragedy, the loss and the incredible patriotism Americans had then. We stood shoulder to shoulder against a foreign threat. Now...?
This song is often offered at funerals and memorials. It was sung in church at my fathers funeral. Bette does write songs but this one was written for the soundtrack of a movie. She was asked to sing it.

First an unbelievable singer & entertainer. Her stage shows & bath house performances were legendary. So lucky I got to see them when none other than Barry Manilow accompanied her on piano. Then branched out to movies and Broadway. Also environmental activist. But that voice, always that voice! Does anybody else remember her performance in the mermaid 🧜♀️ outfit! So much fun! This is from the movie beaches which Bette Midler stars in. When this came out my friends and I went to the movies. We had seen every movie at the theatre except this one. None of us guys wanted to see it because it was a chick flick but we didn’t want to go home. So we bought our tickets and watched the movie. We had a friend that had passed that year and I can tell you us three guys cried like babies watching this and didn’t feel any less manly.

The sound issue you're talking about is the way ut was produced. What you're hearing is studio production. She did not write this song. It was written in the early 80's and recorded by several other artists prior to her. But she owner the song and won a Grammy for it.
