    I've been using the Nikon Z50 for about a year now but I want to upgrade to a full-frame camera soon. My first option was the Z8 but since it is wayyy out of my budget limit, I decided to stick with either the Z6 II or Z7 II.. though, I am stuck between choosing the two. Which one of these do you think is the best choice for Portraits, Nature/Landscape and Street Photography?

    I have a Z6 II, did you set the White Balance and Tint to the same number on all files before pulling shadows? Anyways the Z7 ii should have like 1/3 to 2/3 of a Stop more of Dynamic Range, but the purple shift on your test is weird.

    The Z6ii lost the ability to set shutter speed using the rear command dial in all modes including S and M. I can change the shutter speed using the front command dial in S and M modes by inverting the main/sub command dials in the custom control settings. I can also change the shutter speeds in S and M modes using the touch screen. Therefore, the problem appears to be exclusively related to the back command disk. I have reset the camera to default settings to make sure that the menu setting is not the problem. The camera firmware has been updated to version 1.30. The camera was purchased new earlier this year. I was able to set the shutter speed using the rear command dial before updating the firmware.
    Has anyone come across this problem? I am trying to determine if it is a mechanical issue or a firmware update related issue. I googled the issue to see if it was related to the recent firmware update to version 1.30 and didn't see any posts about the update

    Hey man did you ever release the z6 vs z6ii? I’m debating on which one . I actually prefer the magenta tint on the 6 than blue hue Iv seen on the 7 , also the clarity seemed better in some cases .
    Iv saw you mention there is a bid diff between the two and for me I’m wondering about color difference. I saw one video of someone doing street photography with the original and thought it looked amazing color wise .
    So I wonder their difference in color . I think I saw someone mention the original isn’t as natural in color as the 6ii but idk I want to see the difference because I liked what I saw in that one video .

      I don't think those tints have anything to do with the cameras, rather with the Lightroom. I would first demosaic the raw files in DXO PR, as it's the best raw conversion software, and then would boost the exposure in LR. I was processing ISO 51200 files in DXO and there were no tints.

      @@nogerboher5266 Thank you. What are your thoughts about picture quality. I rented a Z6ii and was impressed, but didn't do a side by side comparison. I would like to see a 24mpx crop sensor image compared to a cropped 24mpx full frame image. I know the number of pixels will be less than half, but with the improved technology and larger pixel size, I believe there is more to consider that just the pixel count. I'd consider the Z7ii if need be, but the Z6ii is sounding like the bigger bang for the buck.

    • @nogerboher5266
      @nogerboher5266 Před 2 lety +1

      @@tc6912 So, I don't do video work, I only do photography. My main source of income are portrait shots for models and shoots for peoples social media... I also do WRC/FIA and other Rally event stuff on the side. So that's basically it. I don't know what you are shooting or if you're doing it professionally or as a hobby but if you need Eye/Face AF in any way, shape or form, the go and look at the R6, a7lll or the new a7IV, skip the Z6ll entirely - I tried all of the aforementioned cameras and more but since I did not need Eye AF, as I was able to do 99% of my work with single point AF and group AF modes, I opted for the Nikons Z6ll, simply because of superior image quality and the amount of features for stills that it offers over the R6, a7lll and a7IV. Not to mention the 600-800 EUR lower price compared to the R6 or a7IV, depending on where you live, which was what sold me when I was deciding what to buy... I get more hardware/software features for 800 EUR less? Say no more, that's a ''no-brainer'' decision right there!
      The image quality is superior, 24MP is more than enough for everything I do, I even did some landscape shots for the national newspaper magazines and TV shows with zero issues and they even had to downsize the images down to 20MP for one of the TV shows, so 24MP is kind of the sweet spot for 99% of photography work if you ask me.
      I will be switching to the a7IV however, but not because the Z6ll is bad, I actually like the images Z6ll produces more than the a7IV - but I will be needing the Eye AF, as I plan on dipping my hands into the wedding and event photography world, on top of my portraiture work so that flawless Sony Eye AF will come in handy!
      Also, if you set your picture quality options manually, to neutralize the sharpening, make the colors colder, bump up the blues and set everything else to 0, you can get those cinematic/film photos straight out of camera, without even doing any editing in post, which is something only Canon and Nikon cameras can do accurately. Tried to do it on Fuji, Panasonic and Sony cameras but never had great results. The Z6ll does it perfectly! That's also something I'm going to miss a lot.

      @@nogerboher5266 Thank you for taking the time with me. Good info to consider. Tough choices. The A7iv has my attention also. As an enthusiast wildlife shooter, I don't like the direction Canon has taken with their enthusiast level lenses.

    • @nogerboher5266
      @nogerboher5266 Před 2 lety +2

      @@tc6912 Don't stress too much about the system you're going to go with. As far as stills go, the Z6ll stands over both the R6 and a7IV in every single aspect, both in hardware and software features, not to mention that it's 600-800 EUR cheaper. I tried all three and this in particular is just one of the reasons I went with the Z6ll over the others. Anyhow, unless you specifically, REALLY, REALLY need the superior Eye AF from Either Sony or Canon cameras, I wouldn't even look at Sony or Canon, there's just no reason to. You can do 99% of ALL of your photography work with just single point and group focus modes, Eye AF is just there for very specific case needs or situations, as it is in my case, plus you mentioned you're not shooting for work purposes so you won't even need Eye AF anyway.
      In my case, let me tell you right now that I wouldn't even be switching to Sony if I didn't really need the Eye AF as soon as I do, which is next Tuesday week, because Nikon is most likely going to release a firmware update for the Z6ll in the following few months, to improve the Eye/Face AF to the level of the Z9, because both Z6ll and Z7ll have two processors and have the processing power needed for that level of AF performance - but since I can't wait for that, I will just be getting the a7IV and I might even switch back to Z6ll when the firmware comes if I don't continue with the event and wedding work and manage to sell the Sony gear for close to the amount I will be spending on it.
      In any case, nowadays, almost all newly released cameras can do 99% of photography work and you should only spend big bucks if you need something very specific from a Camera because, trust me when I say this, no matter what you shoot and where you shoot, you will almost never need the Eye/Face AF, you will just end up using single point or group AF instead, on a 5,000 EUR camera that you bought for its superior Eye AF capability, which is a huge waste of money, whether you're a professional or not.
      For example the person I will be going to shoot the events with next Tuesday, is one of the biggest and best wedding photographers in my country and possibly in this part of Europe, well, up until last month, he shot everything with a Canon R and an RP and his partner that does video work, shot everything on an RP! His income for the summer and fall of 2021 is close to three times that of what I earned in the entire year of 2021 and I have almost 4 times more expensive equipment than he does! Well, now he has an R5 and I believe an R3 on a pre-order but this just shows you that you can shoot with literally anything nowadays and that Eye AF is overblown and and overrated.
      Just go with whatever you find the best for your needs, don't even bother looking at the Eye AF, megapixels or anything else that people on CZcams are blowing out of the realm of real world use. You want to focus on image quality, RAW file colors and ergonomics - looking anything else is cherry picking and unnecessary as all cameras nowadays perform better than any SLR/DSLR camera ever did.

    I went for a Z7ii as the vast majority of my shots are landscapes and I'm on a tripod 90+% of the time so Im ISO 64 to 200 all the time. And those extra pixels help for landscapes.
    Although I'm still tempted by a 6ii as I think rather than compete, they complement each other well.

    Actually for wildlife the more MP are better. It gives you better cropping. So the Z7II would be better. People only use the Z6II cause it focus is a little faster. Z7II hunts with focus.

    • @valentinursu1747
      @valentinursu1747 Před 10 měsíci

      The only reason... not the price difference... ok, the buffer and transfer bandwidh are not better on z6 2, they are the same but the Z7 2 can take images that are twice the size. More megapixels, bigger files, slower speed. Get the Z7 2, set the image size to Medium (as in, the Z6 2's Large) and watch it mop the floor with the Z6 2 on frame rate...Then go back and set the image size back to large and take 45.7Mpx photos, because that's what you paid extra for. You need speed, on the Z7 2, it's a menu option away. You want high quality print photos on the Z6 2, sell it on Craig's list and get a Z7 2, or Z8 or Z9

    Hello from Mexico ! excellent analysis and comments! Thanks a lot!
    I bought the z7 ii but I haven't released it yet
    Well, they haven't delivered it to me, but I've been looking at the specifications, including your analysis, and I'm seriously thinking of changing it for the z6 ii, because I work in photography of night shows, you know, I need shutter speed and autofocus, as well as high isos and quality. of image, and the most possible focus points, but I liked that although the z6 ii has half the points they are distributed in 90% of the sensor the same as the z7 ii although I also require processing speed in postproduction and for this reason I also lean towards the Z6 ii because of the size of the files, but it is difficult to give up the quality of the dynamic range of the z7 ii because sometimes if I need medium to large impressions that have quality.
    As well as I think that the z6ii offers more advantages in the video, and I think that for that it is better if I am not mistaken. I would love for you to help me with your opinion if possible.
    which one do I stay with?
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Greetings.

      You have a very hard choice. The Z7ii is so good in Dynamic range and yes the Z6II has the better video quality. After reading your story, I would say Z6ii because my test for dynamic range is like a SUPER worst-case scenario and I doubt you are always in that situation. For your upscaling, you can use Topaz labs + Photoshop to match. I done it before on this channel .
