    After a while struggling with the colours on the Z6II - I realized that the colour accuracy in the shadows goes up at ISO 800. Once I realized that, my shooting and editing process has entirely changed. Dynamic range behavior in the shadows is reallllllly different than most Cameras I've used
    I heard it's something to do with the dual gain ISO on the BSI sensor

    Yes the D850 is loud, but love the Shutter so much. That it is for me a feature which i don't want to miss. It is a sound which belongs to phorography. A DSLR and a Procamera in general should sound in continuous mode like an AK47 :D

      Try a Nikon D3. Nikon made a lovely slick and quiet shutter..no comparison to D850. There is no need for D850 shutter to be so loud, its unnecessary and a design weakness

    I rarely find camera comparison videos very engaging. Watching your video I appreciated a real comparison which is not excessively technical and gets straight to the point. The image quality comparison is extremely useful and well presented. I would love to see comparison between Leica cameras in the future. I will check others of your videos. You did an excellent job with this one

    I have a d500 on my right arm when I go on hikes with a Tamron 150-600 G2 lens for birds in flight or wildlife, and on my left arm I have a Z6II with a Nikon classic 17-35 2.8 lens. Basically on my left for slower single shot landscapes or street, and fast on my right for that sort of stuff. Been working out really well for me lately.

    Hi, very good video. Just wanted to share my experience coming from d750:
    Batteries ? Yes you can use third party ones, in fact I’m reusing the extra ones I had for my old d750. (Maybe shorter usage as capacity is lower).
    Autofocus? Regarding bird focus…. It’s something weird, but easy to fix using central point + continuos autofocus.
    As a cons, In case of reusing old lens via adapter, size of camera + adapter + lens = hey, better to bring d750 out… it’s big, doesn’t worth if you plan to make street photo without buying z lenses. It’s just my opinion.
    In general super happy, videos are gorgeous and I love this extra boost of color from z6ii + super buffer.. cheers

    Great video. My take on the punchier seeming photos of the the Z6II is the “back side illuminated sensor in it” versus the regular cmos of the D850…. Also perhaps the newer processor helps as well..

      Thanks for watching! I tried 4 different third party battery and none of them worked with my z6ii. I cant recommend any brand since I saw this issue. If the green ones are wasabi power, doesnt work on my end ;\ . We will see, maybe a new update will allow it? wishful thinking on my end since I got too many third party nikon battery.

    What lens did you put on the Z 6II for this test? Your Light Room Classic demo says a 50mm f/1.8G; I.e. an F mount lens with the FTZ adaptor and not any of the native Z 50mm lenses.

      I don't know how 3d tracking works on z6 / II, but on z5 it's practically unusable on anything that goes faster than a turtle, on dslr 3d tracking is incredibly accurate and fast with an average kit lens!

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  Před 2 lety

      I am not sure on the softness. Sounds like a defective unit.. Its the same mp but lens should play the roll in sharpness. Perhaps the AF on the F mount wasnt focusing correctly? I had it once on this channel. I reported it I remember.

    hi good video, i am a heavy user of both these bodies, i've put 600,000 through D850 and 150,000 through Z6II for indoor sport events, new season in 1months time(12,000 -16,000 images a weekend). There is a reason why i have both still. The Z6II is my indoor low light beasty, it kills the D850 above 10k iso, but when you get into good light territory things get a bit confusing, as the D850 simply gets the shot faster, why? Because the Z6II AF chosen is very specific to the subject, on the D850 its not. Z6II to get the best is experience based AF use, i see the good and bad in both and neither makes me want to go one way or other just yet. I have bought more Z glass for my Z6II but i have kept my F mount also,by the end of 2023 i'll decide to get onto Mirrorless full time but at present the 850 gets what i want and i dont have G.A.S, to make me want the Z9, as it does not fit my use case. Maybe a Z8 or Z6III if they come, will soon see. I could write up the whole process and findings on heat vs RSI you get vs Battery life vs Missed shot % but all it boils down to is trust, and as i shoot live, it means no post editing and images direct to customers hands within 15mins of the shot, printed in most cases, i have more trust in the 850 than the Z6II even though i feel the z6II is better for indoor work but not quite now. For my video work Z6II all the way no exception. I just wish they allowed 3 selections for AF on the Z6II like the D850, which i have single point on BB, 9 point on joysick and grp on the lens.

      This is a real detail personal experience and I appreciate your time in sharing as there may be folks who are on the edge in switching. I think maybe in the next 2 years we can see a real solid system with Nikon that will push the switch. I will agree with your assessment as I went from 50 % mirrorless 50% dslr a year ago to 25% dslr to 75% mirrorless today. We will see what is in stores in the upcoming future. Z8 here we go~!

    • @MrModerate_kane
      @MrModerate_kane Před rokem

      @@theCameraVille the one thing that dogs me is when shooting on a 24-70 and 70 isn’t enough but DX mode makes it enough, on d850 it’s fine, on z6II it doubles the size of the Af so it’s very large, meaning unless the subject is fully in frame, it back or front focuses, happens on all mirrorless including Z9, but not any other brands, my colleagues Sonys stay sane also, told by Nikon, it’s how it reads, won’t get changed. Means again I am waiting on a 24/35-90/105 in 2.8 to resolve this, it’s about 40% of my work as rest of times, I’m on the 70-200 so it’s not an issue, lucky for me when I am in that position I have my 850 to cover it.

    Consider silent mode on D850. E.g. in situations where a bird is sitting still, it helps you not scaring it away.

      This will depends on your hard drive space and your current lens setup + budget. If you want to build for the future with eye tracking in your user experience, Z6ii. If you dont want to mess with adapters and have a ton of F glass then get the D850. Its really about your situation in the end.

    d500, d850 are above all mirrorles in terms of performance and usability, durability etc etc! Mirrorles is a serious scam that costs 50-100% more for virtually no progress except in 200g less weight: p Dslr lives forever ! I'm using z5 and that's 10g back versus dslr in terms of autofocus versus d5300 / d7200! Tx fot test!

    I'm going mirrorless, I own a D500 which is a fantastic camera and I'm replacing my D810 with Z6ll soon, lighter, better on low light condition, faster autofocus, eye tracking autofocus is a mind blowing feature especially for videographers under bright environments, I don't mind using my prime F lenses which they are fantastic, the only problem is I have to purchase the FTZ adapter, I was stuck deciding should I invest on D850 or Z6ii, well, I came with the best conclusion of switching to mirrorless because I think internally and let's just be realistic mirrorless is the future for much better performance.

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  Před 2 lety +1

      Yea, its crazy to see this transition happening. The new trend hasnt been that solid yet and I can only hope the next model fix all the black out and lag. At the same time, seeing Nikon removing D500 is a sad indication that dslr maybe fading out.

      In my opinion Nikon is not investing anything into new DSLRs. I love my D850 but I also ordered a Z6ii as a backup and a lighter alternative for streetphotography and Nordic lights shooting.
      I hoped a successor from the D850 will come out this year but I am afraid that nothing will come. Nikon is promoting the Z System everywhere. The Z9 is a pretty nice camera. Let’s see if the z6ii will make me happy :)
