Trying to climb Andrew Camarata's icy mountain with a pickup truck 13:15 Getting pulled out by skidder 18:20 Unloading tracks 18:40 Installing canopy on roller
Andrew is a phenomenon, nothing ever stops him and always with a good mood, I follow this channel since Andrews gave the link in the video of the demolition of the small barn it's great here too!
I'm only going to say this once. CHAINS. Just moved to FL after retiring and spending my entire life in CT, the hilly parts. Even with 2WD pickup, never got stuck trying to get home or anywhere I needed to go.
Exactly. We use chains in mud, too. Chains around the 4 outside drive tires on a loaded log truck often make the difference of needing a shove or getting out of the woods by yourself.
It’s really great to see The AC Way on your Channel ! AC doesn’t post as often as his fans would like to see . Thanks for sharing your World with all us
Hey mate. I’d recon you’d get a bit over everyone giving suggestions but I hope you take this one on board. I crushed my arm against a tree and my 4wd truck doing something similar and try to teach everyone that it’s important to keeps your arms inside the vehicle. Otherwise great video thanks for taking the time to edit and post. From down under
Chains and low air pressure will get you there a lot better. You can probably crawl right up there with some good v-bar chains on. They really cut into the ice where regular chains sometimes slip. When you're looking down a grade like that, and can't see the bottom, you know it's really steep. I guarantee the camera doesn't do it justice one bit. I know how it is getting up and down those mountains like that because I have the same terrain here at home to deal with, but it's worth it. Be careful and have fun!
Back in the pre awd/4wd days, when I drove in the western mountains a lot in winter, I had a extra set of tires with mounted welded cross link/ bar link chains in the vehicle. When I hit the snow line going uphill, swapped out the tires and cruised along with no problems. The tire weight in the rear helped a lot. Can’t recommend chains enough.
We moved up to Silver Hollow just below Plateau Mountain in 1962. My parents were totally unprepared for life in the mountains. My dad had a 57 Chevy Belair and we had a regular routine of stopping at a certain point and putting chains on. We made it up every time except for once, got stuck on Enoch’s hill. Had to walk back to the house through 2 feet of snow. I was in 4th grade my brother in kindergarten and my youngest brother was 1 year old. They bought a Willys 4WD Wagon and a Jeep FC150 after that experience. I should write a book!
HEY Dave ,, this video should be ICE ROAD TRUCKING or RISKY BUSINESS with Andrew.. HA HA. Chains ? WE no need no tinky Chains😳 ...Just ramit and pray you don't break a AXEL .. Great video .Thanks
A thing I like about a lot of older vehicles that a lot of newer ones I hear don’t have… well not a GOOD or awesome….. 4WD LOW GEAR. Manual transfer case!!!! Some can be shifted on the fly. Just awesome.
Hold traction control for 10sec and that will turn the thing off completely, just hitting the button once won't shut it off, hopefully it will help for next time, it will unlock everything and give u the power u need
Theres two types of traction control: the one that brakes the spinning wheel, like the old timers did in the 1950s when Ford 8N did the tillage without lockers, or it reduces engine power when it senses wheel spin. I liked the first, i hate the last. Especially when youre counting on it while backing up in a dirt road, only to find out that it doesnt work in reverse and you allmost spin around...
Andrew is hard on everything he owns but he gets stuff done, those Dodge diesels usually have limited slip differentials, you guys need the tru trac differential in the rear and limited slip up front. Get a trutrac you will not be disappointed. Although I drive in mud not that white stuff. It should be a lot better. Don't bang up that pretty truck though. Thanks for the video's
How about trying an old fashioned trick low range 4wheel drive with good quality tire chains on all tires , that’s been working on my old Dodge Power Wagon for years. Good luck !
Situations like that, the diesel is a disadvantage. That is a lot of weight to push up the hill and they make so much torque instantly, you just spin out. Andrew likes his MT tires which work well in snow but for ice, a tire with sipes works best. I have found a tire like the Cooper AT3 is a really good compromise that you can leave on all year
Was wondering why he took that roof off the roller. I suppose to transport it. But then to put it back on in the dead of winter after a good snow. 100% Andrew.
Well the fact is that although you paid for a four wheel drive vehicle, you dont really have a four wheel drive vehicle. When one of the wheels looses traction, the wheel still having traction just sits there doing nothing. And the only way to fix that is to have locking rears. That way all the wheels will be working all the time. Also studded snow tires work very well, and will be a big help in those type situations.
So I had a twin truck to Andrew’s white one for 10 years and it was unstoppable. now I have one very similar to your black one and I can’t seem to get use to the auto transmission and traction control.
The whole episode regarding taking the roller up the mountain was a lesson in stupidity where the driver was fortunate to come off with a slight injury when a fatality could have just as easily occurred. Then this one bad decision leads to more risks to correct that bad decision. Fortunate that a cable didn’t snap or a pulley or chain failed, resulting in serious injury or death. Love the content on your channel, right up to the time you lost your head to a snapped cable and the dog got flattened by a piece of equipment!
Agreed. Some Andrew shenanigans are fun to watch because sometimes he balances on the line between bravery and stupidity, but that time it was just pure stupidity, unnecessary risk that could end in serious injury or death. Accidents happen, sometimes you risk your health or life to take a shortcut and if something happens, you can only blame yourself, but including others into this shitshow is a big no-no.
Always amazes me the unwillingness or knowledge of how to put on tire chains that keeps people from doing stuff the easy way. A set of chains and it would have drove up the hill in 2wd.
We have 1 of them new ram trucks n they really go go as good as the old 2006 ram they r both great trucks just the suspension is so much heavier they don’t flex as much n the old trucks that have a lot of miles n everything flexes more it’s like a fine wine my friend better with age lol
I just can't understand why everyone puts so much faith in all terrain tires going up muddy, icy, hills. Once you learn how to mount chains on properly, you never have to jack up the vehicle. Once ice is in the mix, the chain is the only way to go.
I find it best to make the decision early to mount the chains rather than later. You all be safe !!! Mud and ice is 2 times the slipping factor..@@Dumpster_Dave
Try a set of mud comander tires run them in all my truck amazing in snow in mud I don't use 4x4 very often anymore they last a few summers of dry pavement to
Man, that actually looked pretty steep on camera, and anyone who has filmed anything on a hill knows it's always way more steep in person. Cool to see this from the other perspective.
It's always risky bringing a nice vehicle within Andrew's vicinity. Lol.
@james21….. you got that right. Daves new truck is going to look like Andrews older truck in that terrain lol😄
Andrew is a phenomenon, nothing ever stops him and always with a good mood, I follow this channel since Andrews gave the link in the video of the demolition of the small barn it's great here too!
He’s crazy for sure
@@Dumpster_Dave In the UK in the early '70s people used to write 'Clapton is God' on walls.....
I found it before that even, because I searched CZcams for "Dumpster Dave" on a whim after watching a Camarata Episode with him lol.
Great video Dave. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week and be careful.
Thanks
Finally, front row seat tickets to a shit-show that is not my own!
Haha best way
You did a very good job with this one Dave. Not to much talking but enough for explanations.....
Those Skidder chains should be in a magic show. At first they are connected, the next they are not. 😂
Always enjoy watching you and Andrew work together !
I'm only going to say this once. CHAINS.

Really liking the collab with you two. Keep ‘em coming.
Great to see you guys working together, good man Dave keep it up 💪
Never a dull moment with Andrew cheers
Take a tip from an old guy, carry a bag of sand in the winter.
Yeah that would help
Crushed shells, like you feed to chicken as extra calcium, works better for the really bad spots. Allmost as good as chains.
More like never follow someone in 5k beater while your in a 60k truck.
Lol a bag of sand will get you about 8 feet.
Carry real tire chains and you will crawl right up these little grades.....
Another great video. Andrew is lucky to have you as a friend.
Tusen takk for god underholdning. 👍🤗👍🇸🇯
Thanks for all the great content
Dave, even in Summer you need snow chains on Camarata Mountain...lol...😆😆😆
Lol 😆 true
And spare underwear.
I am really enjoying all the different perspectives of this project.
You guys are too much and I love it.

Your welcome
Bones of fun thanks for sharing
New tires nice!
Thanks for real time and no music when the skidder was pulling you. Tire chains can be your friend!

Sorry about your arm. I’ll be more careful
Working in the ice and snow with cold and stiff fingers is a shitty thingy.
Hope you made it home safe and healthy, Dave and Andrew.
Tom 😎
Thats container 101 to place them on concrete blocks, purely keep the frame ventilated and dry to prevent rot.

All you have to do is look at the angle that the trees grow. Not steep..

I order some
Yeah, in conditioner like that, my friend, you need both axles, chained up!
Yeah I think 4 tires chains would be good

Wow cool besides walking home
That was awesome 👌 that skider is really powerful.
Thank God for that skidder
@Dumpster_Dave good thing it has chains or it would be worse than the black dodge.
That old skidded could pull 7 or 8 of those trucks up that hill! They pull till they break a cable. At least all of the rigs I've operated could.
HEY Dave ,,
this video should be ICE ROAD TRUCKING or RISKY BUSINESS with Andrew.. HA HA. Chains ? WE no need no tinky Chains😳 ...Just ramit and pray you don't break a AXEL .. Great video .Thanks
When you have the right tools you can do anything, have fun guys.
I figured it out! Andrew is like a combo of 70% Jimmy Diresta and 30% Whistlin Diesel. Sometimes ol' Whistlin comes out stronger.
You could totally test the roller by starting a hockey rink in up in the clearing!
More fun on the Camp Camarata Parkway in the winter ? The AC Way !
A thing I like about a lot of older vehicles that a lot of newer ones I hear don’t have… well not a GOOD or awesome….. 4WD LOW GEAR.
Manual transfer case!!!!

Can you talk him into cutting out a few switchbacks? So that normal cars will get to the top?
They call Andrew crazy ,you sir are the crazy one bringing a nice truck up there lol.

You've got to know this by now. Moving anything across that property in the winter is a recipe for disaster!
Lol should of seen us coming down the mountain in the dark
@@Dumpster_Dave I was wondering about that as the video closed...
Andrew’s like let me get in front of you and he drives off a cliff for a shortcut on the way down. It was interesting.
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love us all. Way not use a snow scooter with a slats behind it to put the tire's on it thay do it like this in Alaska.

I heard that dry dog food makes awesome traction on snow or ice. Hey, that's done. Let's go snowmobiling!
How about trying an old fashioned trick low range 4wheel drive with good quality tire chains on all tires , that’s been working on my old Dodge Power Wagon for years. Good luck !
Going to need tracks for trucks going up that mountain.
The tracks aren’t good on ice only on snow
Situations like that, the diesel is a disadvantage. That is a lot of weight to push up the hill and they make so much torque instantly, you just spin out. Thanks I’ll look them up
You had some good weight in the back too
looks like there's still quite a bit of road to build yet
Yeah a lot of road
I believe Andrew has studded tires on his truck. They make a huge difference on ice.
I think he has a pair, but they’re not on the truck right now
Lols fun video to watch , thx for sharing this one , c’mon guys … give this guy a like for this video 🍺😎
Andrew have nice friends ! i like his channel til next time dave.
Dave your trucks going to look like Adrews if you keep helping him out up in that mountain lol😄
Lol
Tru dat.

This truck usually spins posi front and back, my last truck would only spin one in the front and one in the back, I would get stuck on a wet leaf
That Skidder ist a hell maschine
Lol Andrew does not care about his truck that is the difference
Haha
Best part is the ride down!
Yeah it was dark out, Andrew said that’s the easy part lol
better drive than film
So I had a twin truck to Andrew’s white one for 10 years and it was unstoppable. now I have one very similar to your black one and I can’t seem to get use to the auto transmission and traction control.
Yeah that truck Andrew has Is an 2003, goes anywhere
Mudd tire are no better on ice
I think some of the older trucks are just better in 4wd
17:25 good time to use a sled!❤😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
Skidder to the rescue!
That skidder is the best thing going
If u get a dumpster with metal in it mixed with building materials do u separate it or just haul it to the landfill
I Dump at the landfill and they load me backup with the metal
@@Dumpster_Dave awesome 👌
as cool as fancy trucks are, I still just want a basic "small" truck and the less parts it has the better
Does anyone own chains for tires? Its a game chager for the trucks
Curious what tire pressure you guys run when headed up that road.
I think I have 70 psi in mine otherwise my light would be on
airing down would have helped a bit I think...
@@Dumpster_Dave yeah, thats a lot of air. 35 would probably made a differance.

Go get the small dozer and tow strap, pull'em up the mountain.
What percent is that grade, doesn't look that steep but it must be
It’s hard to walk up without sliding down
What tires are on your pickup? Falken wildpeak at3w? Looks like it.
I believe so
... but it was fun!
Curious as to why A/C doesn't put a salt or sand spreader on the back of his pick up .
Salt is bad for the dogs paws
Sand would work
It will rot the tin from his cars. He already complains about it.
All them mod cons on vehicles are no good in conditions like that
I founded the sandal in clips at auto zone if you have one there
Cool we actually do
those Diamond thread should help the roller
I’m sure they will
Would be fun to come hangout with you guys fir a day
You might have to sign a waiver lol
hide your children hide your wives it's adventure time with dumpster dave and crazy camarata
Why don't use winter tyres with studs
Studs are good until you get on dry pavement and make a ton of noise.
You were lucky not to have a flat, till you guys get that tamped.
That part has no stone on it where I got stuck
Mud n show tires would work better then the all terrane
Always amazes me the unwillingness or knowledge of how to put on tire chains that keeps people from doing stuff the easy way. A set of chains and it would have drove up the hill in 2wd.
I’m going to order some
Does your Business almost come to a complete stop in the winter months and do you have other businesses you do when not hauling roll off’s ?
I just have the dumpster business, I’ve been busy
Great
Dave what were you thinking 😂
There was no turning back
Andrews got MTS on his truck and I believe they are studded as well.
He might have a set that are studded but they weren’t on
Okay MTS are the best Andrew inspire me to get a set they made a big difference off road.
I run a Detroit locker my rear end and limited-slip up front
This truck always spins posi front and back unless traction c on
We have 1 of them new ram trucks n they really go go as good as the old 2006 ram they r both great trucks just the suspension is so much heavier they don’t flex as much n the old trucks that have a lot of miles n everything flexes more it’s like a fine wine my friend better with age lol
Yeah Andrews truck is way smoother over the bumps
Yea good trucks just vary ruff n stiff suspension when you don’t have a load on it the rear coil springs r hard
Manual hubs vs auto hubs?
Maybe, it was spinning all 4 wheels
Dove avete lasciato Dumper?

Yeah
this is why the used truck i bought from ny is destroyed
