@Dumpster Dave I’m digging your channel! With that said, please be careful by not abusing your back and knees. I needed a knee replacement by 45 years old from abusing my body. Several surgeries later I’m still in pain. Arthritis in the knees is no joke. Just please take care you have long life to live and only one body.

Good point Andrew - I had knee surgery a couple years ago after my quad muscles and tendons broke loose from my kneecap…they’re only attached to a bit of bone. I was in restraints and couldn’t do much for months - longest recovery time for any surgery according to my physio. So, think twice about falling in your kneecap or using it as a sledge hammer 😊

A heads up Dave make sure your big doors are open when you try to blow out a tire and you can get ear problems when they blow . Stay safe because there is a lot of energy released when they blow some guys have ear problems for life when they are close to a tire popping

yep, always open the doors so that the air that is highly compressed inside the tire and therefore stores a lot of volume, has a way out of the building when or if a tire blows. Otherwise the increased air pressure can blow out windows etc.

I used to change truck tires for a couple years and a customer brought in some tires that had been "repaired". You could see somebody had molded in a new chunk from the inside and I was OKd to mount it after some debate. I knew the rough timing to get the tire up to about 90 PSI before bothering to start checking pressure so I hooked up the line and left. Tire never made it to 90, it went off like a bomb doing some flips and the owner's wife came running out to the shop to see if any of her family members were dead. Boss didn't let me mount the 2nd tire. :D

I ran big brand name tyres for years on my work van. Used to pick up punctures every other month and my record was trashing a brand new Michelin in just 2 weeks with a Nail right in the side wall!
Ended up switching to 'Mid Range' ones and using cheaper brands and since doing so I've never had a puncture! Seem to be getting longer run time on them too. Starting to wonder if they design them to fail so you keep buying more! lol
Currently have a set of Davanti tyres on and actually really impressed with them.

You don't want to purposely pop a tire in those cages because their only one time use. I've seen a tire explode inside one of these and that completely destroyed the cage, it did its job and contained the tire/rim pieces though.

Thought you were going to spread the bars on your new tyre cage by trying to blow up a tyre. I thought the cage was good for one good blow out because it spreads the cage bars apart? Cage is designed to flex when a blow out occurs? After that the cage has to be replaced again?
