I’m hurt Steve Lacy’s on here he dropped a album that’s beloved in the music industry
The fact Steve lacy is on here shows Watch mojo content has really been going downhill smh
A Thousand Miles, Somebody that I just to know, I love it and Shut up and dance
Calling Steve Lacy a 1 hit wonder is wild
fax
yo for reeaaaal hahahaha
They do acknowledge it's too soon to tell, but what else was there for 2022? (by any other artists I mean?)
No idea why they chose to single me out with this comment that was never meant to be anything worse.
What's even more wild? Mojo deleting my comments about black people (I am black American) dancing to A Thousand Miles is cringy.. Like why? Like why delete my comment about it being cringy? That's cringy and wild all in one. 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏾♂️
Problem is, it’s quite likely true… When you blow up on TikTok and people go to your concerts and only know the part of the song that is used on TikTok? It doesn’t look too good, and doesn’t look like people really care for your music?
Calling Steve lacy a one hit wonder is beyond diabolical 😭
Who is Steve Lacey?
he is tho

That movie defined that song
😂😂😂
Same.
Steve lacy disrespect cannot be tolerated
For real. Like are they joking?
Facts that's fucked up
Well as of now he’s technically a 1 hit wonder. I’m sure he will rack up more hits in the future.
24:24
Nah this is mad wild. I hate what Tiktok did to him and you can tell he does too.
You can’t call someone a one hit wonder after 1 year.
Exactly

you can, sometimes you know already
🗣ONE HIIIIIIT WONDERRRRR
If this video was made in 2019, they’d definitely call Lil Nas X a One-Hit Wonder. He instantly proved that wrong with Panini.
The disrespect to Ella Mai, Steve Lacy, and Hozier 💀
steve lacy is NOT a one hit wonder. He been in the industry for a long time and has a dedicated fanbase

Exactly! He's the artist that other popular artists take inspiration from! Gemini rights was such a good album and Bad Habits was not even the best song of the album.
Ella Mai’s 2nd hit “Trip” reached #11 on Billboard. Not sure why shes considered a One Hit Wonder. At least give Steve Lacy another year before writing him off.
Well a hit is usually a top 10 song
@@JoNoSay you can’t be serious💀

Lists like this just shows how brutal the music industry really is. Takes so much for artists to keep their heads above water. And the disrespect to Steve Lacy must stop lol.
steve lacy mid asl, deadass a tiktok one hit wonder shits not good. you're delusional
The comment section is littered with Steve Lacy support. Watch Mojo needs to put some respect on his name 😂
I did notice for the last few years they mention how they’ll be watching to see if these artists top the song that put them on the list
Steve Lacy may actually be the next big producer so even if he’s not the artist he’ll be making hits none the less
He already produced hits they just dont wanna talk about that
He produced on Kendrick Lamar's DAMN album...
Plus he found success as part of the band "The Internet"... Def not a one hit wonder
Calling Estelle, Ella Mai and Steve Lacy one hit wonders is crazy to me. Also teach me how to figure may have charted I’m 2010, but it fed came out before that because we danced to it at grad night in 09.
As of my comment, I hadn't gotten to Estelle, but I was still hearing of her 8 years later. She is not a one-hit wonder.
Even La roux had more then one hit with "in for the kill"
This list touts Gnarls Barkley as a one hitter... they didn't know he was Ceelo Green!!! Goodie Mob was a blockbuster before "Crazy" and has two big hits after this list wasn't fully researched

Vanessa Carlton had some smaller hits and I have seen her live in acoustic venues. She may not be a “star”, but she is still good
I just hope she used a stunt piano. LOL I was worried
Calling someone a one hit wonder isn't an insult. I used to think when people used the term they meant an artist with only 1 good song. But a lot of times when people talk about one hit wonders they're talking about a really good artist that was only recognized for 1 song. That Vanessa Carlton album is really good and I even hear songs like White Houses at retail stores. Same thing with Gotye, that album with Somebody That I Used to know is seriously incredible
I always get the Anime Music Video made with her song in mind when i hear it, especially since it is fit to teach the finger settings on the piano to play it.
Seriously and… Taylor swift ripped off Rabbits on the run but of course nobody talks about that

I’m sorry but how did Blu Cantrell-Hit ‘Em Up Style get the spot for 2001? Never heard of the artist, never heard the song (the name of the song doesn’t even sound familiar. The Calling-Wherever You Will Go easily should’ve been the one for that year. The Hit ‘Em Up Style music video only has 63 million views compared to the over 500 million The Wherever You Will Go has. So it’s definitely more well known and recognizable and to say otherwise is criminal. I know u didn’t make this video but I’m just so mad.
@davidstratton696 how old are you 😱 you must live under a rock
@@leannej7723 I’m 20 and no I don’t live under a rock.
Calling Blu Cantrell a one hit wonder seems a bit of a stretch since she did have another with Breathe on her next album
One Hit Per Album Wonder. Breathe was huge internationally.
There is a difference between an artist with *only one* hit as opposed to an artist with a song that is clearly more popular than most songs in their discography...Ella Mai's most popular song is Boo'd Up but that's not the only hit she's had...☹
I think i like Trip more than Boo’d up and her most recent album was 🔥
@@swaggyp940 I really do like her Trip more than her Boo'd up as well. But I will say her 10,000 hours song is really good too.
i truly don’t understand Estelle never went viral. she has a great voice. she played Garnet in Steven Universe. She sang beautifully.
I forgot that Steven Universe had a musical aspect to it 😂
She leaned more into songwriting so she still makes hits but for other people
She also sang the theme song on We Bare Bears
calling Hozier, Walk the Moon and Glass Animals “one hit wonders” is an absolute slap in the face to their discography. same for Portugal The Man
NO YOU DID NOT PUT ELLA MAI ON THE LIST . None of her hits have reach the peak of boo’d up but still she still followed up with hits and her album in 2022 was well received 😅
I'm really suprised by this video for mentioning her and others. Like did they even actually look into half these artists?

Steve has dropped hits since his time with The Internet. Very much cap on that part
Glass Animals really deserves more recognition aside "Heat Waves" (brilliant song in my book, btw). I've spent the last several years listening to their other song, "Gooey" on the radio. Also worth another listen.
I mostly knew them from Gooey and their... "interesting" music video
Glass animals has multiple good songs
They have a ton of great songs!
God Heat Waves was annoying 🤦♂️ basic mainstream radio songs that play everywhere.
pork soda
First of all Steve lacy has released plenty good projects before his great album this year and still has plenty of potential
I don't think Kat DeLuna was an One Hit Wonder, she had pretty popular tracks beside Whine Up, like Run the Show and Drop It Low
Can we have a list of one hit wonders from each year of the 90's?
Lizzie McGuire was my first exposure to the song
@Ben Edwards - She also released "Goodbye to You" (not the 80s song by Scandal)... also "All You Wanted", "Are You Happy Now", "Breathe"... a decent number of hits and easily remembered songs by the actual public.
This list made me rediscover my love for alternative music
Not have Hoobastank’s The Reason on this list is criminal
Hoobastank is not a one hit wonder. Don't let crazy town, the calling, Pod, the ketchup, afroman appaear. That is criminal
@@myth8334 lmao yeah okay bud even Hoobastank don’t believe their other tracks were hits 😂 sit down
somebody that i used to know has this melody that is indeed different from what we use to hear, it's addictive and i don't stay more than one week without listening, now that's a masterpiece
Somebody that I used to know still breaks me 😢
Agreed. My Fiance and I broke up while on a trip to San Francisco, and during the excruciating 6+ hour drive back to our apartment, this song was played ad nauseam on different radio stations, so we kept having to turn the station. I still can't listen to that song. I even skipped it in this video LOL.
I hope you have an awesome year!
Cheers.
I would argue that Estelle has found fame in Voice Acting... Have you heard of some of her songs from Steven Universe?
Ella Mia is not a one hit wonder. She was just on tour with Mary J this year
“Bulletproof” is such a great song.
Yep
Yes
That is true.
Somebody needs to make a Spotify Playlist for this
The picks from the 2000-2010s are spot on and sooooo nostalgic! The mostly recent ones...hmmmm. I think it's too soon to tell about the artists!

Always assumes Stacy's Mom was a Sum 41 / Blink 182 song
Everyone used to think that it was a Bowling for Soup song. So much so, that they even did their own cover of Stacy’s Mom in 2011.
Glass Animals is easily one of my top artists and deserve way more recognition
I mean” forget you”was big too so how was Charles a one hit wonder
Most, not all, but most one hit wonders have raw talent and are REAL musicians. Tells you a lot about the music industry.
Shut up and dance is still one of my favorite songs 😀 (And Walk the moon became one of my favorite bands because of this song)
Was Blu Cantrell’s ‘Breathe’ not a hit? It went to number one in the UK.
Can’t believe they tried to pretend “Breathe” wasn’t a smash hit
Nah because I know you did not just call Hozier a one-hit-wonder. He’s not as mainstream, but he still has a large(committed) fan base.
I don't care what anyone says, I'll forever love Estelle's voiceover for Steven Universe. A beautiful woman with an voice from another world. I said it, now come at me. I still have launch codes around here somewhere...
Imagine this comments section if “Call me Maybe” was listed
Breathe by Blu Cantrell was way better than hit em up style IMO, It was internationally just as successful but in the U.S it only made the Top 50 of the Billboard 100.
The early 2000’s were such a prime period for pop music. Blu Cantrel, Vanessa Carlton and Fountains of Wayne all have such great albums that should have been a lot bigger!
It’s so dumb how Blu Cantrell got the spot for 2001 when wherever you will go by the calling is literally right there. That song is by far bigger and to not put it for 2001 is criminal. I’ve never in my life heard of Blu Cantrell or this song of theirs (the name of the song doesn’t even sound familiar). And if u look it up the Blu Cantrell music video only has 63 million views compared to the over 500 million wherever you will go has. So yea it’s definitely more well known and recognizable.
I met Venessa Carlton at the Cincinnati airport going through security. The wild part was her song was playing in the terminal.
I still love bulletproof. Always makes me feel so invincible
I recognized more than half (12/23) of these songs, which amazes me. I really thought it would only be 1 or 2, if any at all.

Ok......Ella Mai is FAR from a 1 hit wonder. Not only did her debut album have a couple rated songs, but she's also had HUGE features on a couple of very big singles like What You Did with Mahalia and Keeps On Fallin with Babyface.
“Even though it’s too soon to see which direction Lacy’s career will go in” THEN WHY IS HE ON THIS LIST LMAO
Also before we get started. That glad you came song better be on here from The Wanted. Never seen a boy band fizzle out that fast from a song that big.

I feel like Macklemore should’ve been on the 2012 list, because his career was a rise back in 2012, and then his fame was destroyed after he won 4 Grammys: 1 for Best New Artist and 3 in the rap categories (Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance) over Kendrick Lamar. He was utterly disappointed about winning over Kendrick because his album was better than Macklemore’s which won for “Best Rap Album”. Kendrick didn’t care and said he shouldn’t feel guilty and praised Macklemore’s win. Macklemore kept making more music until he fell off and lost his viral fame after breaking up with Ryan Lewis.
Charli XCX’s status is not dead in her country than in the US.
But, Macklemore isn’t a One-Hit Wonder.
@@LameAsHell1991 yeah I know but I felt like he’s becoming one ever since he won Grammys over Kendrick. Grammys did him dirty. He should’ve won Best Rap Song and Performance instead of Best Rap Album as one of his wins
