Grandmother's WISDOM - what's IMPORTANT in LIFE

  • It was cold and windy. We were hungry and tired. Walking along a quiet road on the island of Nolsoy, we happened to meet Grandma Disa. With her friendly smile and kind eyes, she invited us into her home for a warm cup of coffee and freshly baked bread.
    She told us that she often invites foreigners into her house because she loves meeting new people from around the world. It helps to remind her that we're not that different. And from her, we learnt that kindness goes a long way. True wealth is not in our wallets - it's in our hearts.

      OH, so true. I wish more people realized the inherent value (and wisdom!!) that our children and the "elderly" have. I put the word "elderly" in quotation marks _because_ every "old" person I have ever met is *still* quite young-at-heart. Sometimes even more so than when they were younger!! They don't _feel_ their age. And why should they? They are not their bodies!! ;) And on the other hand: Children are often _wise_ beyond their years!! And perhaps the greatest lesson(s) and wisdom in life comes from our pets-from _all_ animals, really. I wish more people understood that communication with animals is, indeed, possible. You just have to watch them and learn from them-with an open heart and mind. They have so much to say!! 😻 The animals in my life have taught me more than some people have. And I am forever grateful for their beautiful, gentle, and compassionate love-and wisdom. 😊❣

    Im crying my eyes out. These videos are speaking to my soul. I needed a break from the every day routine and needed an adventure so I decided to rent an Air BnB alone a few hours away. The most fulfilling part of that trip was sitting there reading the messages from the visitors that have stayed there, it fascinated me and filled me with joy untill i finished the whole book, which is cool cause I struggle to concentrate long enough to finish a whole book. That didn't cross my mind until I watched this video. The joy in the way she was explaining her "visitors" and her smile, sparked something inside of me. These videos are helping me make connections, which I tend to overlook because I am always looking for the next adventure. Thank you. :)

      Maybe your mother has health problems - sounds like she does if you're caring for her. I do know that since my accident and mega neglect of my injuries & needs by doctors (because doctors' errors caused them one day: BAM I lost my health & fit strong body & good brain) I get very very low: I lost my job and then my home and have been moved around to different temporary and unsuitable lodgings = now living where I\d never even visited and don't want to be and knew nobody and am still very lost. I enjoy simple things like nature and sunshine and friends family (but hardly hear from most of them now, so sad), I don't need lots of money but at the moment have NO income and that's very scary. But at least (at the moment) I'm not homeless and I have enough food to eat = I'm far luckier than some. What I'm trying to say is that for some of us life can be (is) more difficult than for others. All the best to you.

    • @jennyhughes4474
      @jennyhughes4474 Před 3 lety

      @@thehappywanderer6469 Thank you for your kind reply. I'm SO sorry to read what happened to you, terrible & very very difficult. Personally I've learned so MANY lessons for SO long & I'm totally exhausted & broken (& MORE injured) from being 'tested' & overloaded in so many ways (physical & psychological) for almost 15 years by so many people & so many traumatising events (since medical errors wrecked my life) = some of us are tested to destruction, I have been, am.
      I have daily replays (NOT my choice) of docs' lies & denials & their cover-ups = I do my best to block them out but unless busy I can't & I can't be busy ALL the time. And the pain from the injuries they gave me, although partially blocked when I do my art, actually now (since MORE injured) are much worse after (neck & back) which makes me a bit scared to do much of the only thing I have = my art.
      When I lived in France I could sometimes get to the sea & swim/float in it = wonderful (good exercise & almost NO pain while in), but here in UK (unwanted forced move back) too cold & rough & difficult, I miss it.
      I used to love pottering in my garden but have lost my home & now here it hurts too much = mega pain. I se to love being on my bicycle but can't do that now either. Not much left now...
      In my own home I felt safe but ,living in rented accommodation that isn't adapted for my needs is vey hard, I do my very best though = with ALL of it, as we all do when life (& often other people's CHOICES) throws horrible stuff a us.
      Yes, I get very lonely but get exhausted talking & understanding speech (easier on the phone & can close my eyes & some things easier to talk about than others), I really miss my old life, ad, as you say, I do try to block out this sadness & loss & grief but it's SO hard when I go on losing MORE = repeated grieving, mostly without anyone even acknowledging this is the case.
      How can anyone find peace when your name's been smeared in the mud = falsely accused of being a liar & punished by doctors for being injured by doctors, & NO access to justice including what exactly they did to me & correct diagnoses of they injuries they gave me?
      I muddle on best I can but it isn't really a life - not life as most people know it anyway & most people don't understand how these abuses & neglect by doctors cuts right to your veey core = only others who've experienced it. I know I can't understand what you've been through & are dealing with, but I try.
      Best wishes to you - & all of us 'being tested' & being 'taught lessons' & who are really struggling.

    Hi, Renaissance team, what a wonderful lady Dina is: open house and open heart. She is a dozen years older than me and I hope to reach that wisdom. Farøer Islands are still on my wishlist...I’ve been travelling through Scandinavia for decades, the ferry to these islands was so expensive at that time, but who knows. I’ve been in similar areas there and nothing better than a hot cup of tea and a roll, if the weather is rough. And a heartwarming talk with a like minded person. Haha: im the herb witch of the Family and know quite a lot about wild edible plants. Love her guest book... Thank you for sharing, love, Monika❣️

      Nikki Hark I think you figure this out one encounter at a time. I was driving through a little remote village in my corner of Ontario two days ago. A lady was out gardening behind 8’ high fencing... I just had to stop and chat... I made a new friend! You also have to be willing to put yourself in the way of possible encounters. I was up early that day and drove to 250 kms one way to visit another friend and pick wild apples. It was a long tiring day for a guy whose the same age as Disa... but I now have two friends in that village, and they’re both very unique. All the best as you create your future... one day at a time.
