This is what is fed to us by the media. Movies, Instagram, Facebook, and endless commercials bombard us with this version of what it means to be a 'real man' - how he should look, sound, and act. But each man is different and shouldn't be expected to fit this norm. Maybe it's time we shift our expectations.
For Jan, a real man is a man with genuine self-confidence. He’s a man who knows his own mind and knows what he’s about in life, and he’s not afraid to stand up for what he believes in.

If there is one lesson I can instill in my son is that to not waste time worrying or caring about what other people think of you. I wasted so much of my youth trying to be someone I wasn't. Life is better, calmer, more genuine when you can say, "I'm okay with myself."
"A real man is a man who stands up for what he is and accepts himselves for what he is" well said Jan. I think it's applicable for all of us men or women. I too believe that you truly start living your life fully when you really accept who you are and love yourselves anyway.
Very well said, I feel the same way. For so many years I was what my family and society wanted me to be. They loved me, I did not love myself. Now, for almost 20 years I have been being me and now I love myself and respect my choices. My family think I’m weird? Their loss.

One of my greatest memories was at a Arts festival in Tennessee, USA - of a hundred year old man making a quilt buy hand.

From one real human being to another … thank you … for being true to who you are. It's the one thing we have to offer to the world. I prompt myself to repeat from time to time … "you are enough". The expectations from others are often unreasonable and unkind. But knowing who we are, and being empowered by that, helps to keep healthy boundaries. I loved your contribution Jan, and felt more and more settled as I watched this video. And if you are making jumpers for others …. I have my hand up. The knitting is perfect!!!

Another beautiful video with a beautiful person. I relate to this story and this man’s words. A question was posed to me years ago by a wise soul and upon hearing it, it truly changed my perception of myself and thereafter, truly changed my life.
The person with great love and compassion asked me, “what do you have to prove?” It stopped me in my tracks and I am forever grateful I was asked this question. Knowing I have nothing to prove is another way of framing and affirming the reality of “I am good enough.” Thank you for making these stunning stories.

I think The AUTUMN of Life and being very mature are THE BEST YEARS. Youth is less physically painful but WAY MORE psychologically and emotionally painful. Confusing and Chaotic times in The Summer of Life. .

I saw this video nearly 1 year ago. It left me a huge impact by the words from Jan and I guess he just spoke my words which I have hidden in my soul. Today I researched various titles like " man who knitted", " Man with happy soul" I guess the CZcams algorithm understood my intention. So here I am and enjoying the video again.
