- See Randy's book about this "Last Lecture" at www.cs.virginia.edu/~robins/Ra...
Randy reprised this talk on the Oprah Show in Oct 2007 (see
www.cs.virginia.edu/robins/Ran... ). Randy Pausch
(www.randypausch.com ) is a virtual reality pioneer, human-computer
interaction researcher, co-founder of CMU's Entertainment Technology

I just realized that Randy Pausch randomly selected me to test his VR Aladdin ride when I was walking around at Epcot. I was in the 8th grade, and he was at Epcot to promote the technology.
2020 - Whole world is locked down, but this video is the most uplifting thing I have seen. This guy is inspirational beyond any words.
Every time life hits me with something, I watch this video, and somehow things fall into place. The book is incredible if you haven't read it.
you should read his book
No matter how many times i watch it it feels like the first time..
I graduated from high school in June of this year. I invited my 6th-grade reading teacher to my graduation party and asked her if she could gift me a book to keep. She gifted me with his book. So uplifting!
He deserved that 3 minute ovation :)
Ugh..makes me cry. Why couldn't he have stayed longer on this planet. Such a beautiful amazing teacher, husband, father and friend. Such as the journey. There is no way to explain this life. We can be plucked out in a moments notice. Make it count, everyday, make it count.
I read this book in five hours. One of the best
Which one?
The last lecture
I just got it and am reading it now. It’s wonderful.
I may be a little late here but it warms my hesrt to know that this lecture was so long ago and yet here I am still being quite possibly changed for the rest of my life after watching. As well as reading.
I agree with you!
I’m required to read this book for school. Definitely don’t judge a book by its cover. I thought it would be boring but once I started reading it I couldn’t stop. This book really teaches a good lesson and touches the heart.
I wish this guy was still around so I could tell him how awesome this was
I watch this all the time, whenever I need some inspiration .
Being only a teenager, I hope that I can lead my life half the way that Randy did. I hope that I can live my life to the fullest, learn to see the good in people the way he did. I think that all our English classes in high school should show this lecture. It would teach so many people such a great lesson. My mom had cancer, and she now lives her life a completely different way after surviving. She lives everyday like her last, and takes risks. I hope I can live life like my Mother and Randy.
I would love to hear an update on how things have been in the last 10 years.
Give some update bro
This should be required listening for all humans.
I totally agree
I literally cried watching this. This goes to show that dreams do come true if you believe you can achieve it.
🙂🙂
His life, his story and his legacy is entirely touching and encouraging. I never thought I would feel so motivated to live my life as if I only had a few months to live.
Boa noite minha amiga
Brought me to tears and I've just only learned about Randy this morning. Seems like such a moving guy.. He sure did make an impact on me.
Oh my gosh! I learned about him this morning! My school's counselor came into my class and talked about him!
@@zelordofzepotatoes5274 we're doing this in English class
I have watched this lecture at least once a year for the past few years. I'm also currently reading the book. I think his talk should be required reading for all adults. His perspective was so refreshing and lovely. ❤
Loved his book "The last lecture".
Randy, a loving father, husband and human being. Last picture in your book bought me tears. RIP ♥
He went out in style and blazed a trail of inspiration for us all, that's the best way to go
I got here 7 years after you, if you're still around please respond I'd like to ask you a question
hahaa "Although i will tell you i have experience in death bed conversion....i just bought a macintosh" lol the way this guy can still be humorous even though he is dying..inspirational
I first watched this in 2010 as a high school sophomore. I watched it today 10 years later with kids of my own. It’s surprising to me how different the message hit me now than it did then. Cried for a solid 10 minutes after he mentions his 2nd head fake and thinking about the lecture as a whole.
Im suffering from severe depression and i watched this and things dont feel so bad anymore! This man is absolutely incredible so inspirational in his darkest hour he is able to inspire people. Thankyou Randy!
How are you doing today?
My brother, Ron, died off cancer yesterday.....I am in a difficult place with the whole experience....It has caused to me to now reflect on my own existence... past, present and future....
It seems ironic that I stumbled onto this video today.......
I had never heard of Randy until now...but after listening to his "last lecture", I now can re-focus my my thoughts and set better goals..and dreams....to live my life as I should..... Thank you Randy.......RIP Randy and Ron
He deserved that 3 minute ovation :) WOW No matter how many times i watch it it feels like the first time..
RIP Randy. Class act. The way I want to live my life. A sad example of the good die young.
Dr. Randy, I wish I studied computer science in CMU under your guidance... I am so unfortunate to have not met you in my life.. but fortunate enough to have come across your book and this video. You really are my inspiration... Thanks a lot.
this guys legacy is pretty much the most inspiring thing i have ever experienced.
100 minutes of my life, well spent...
watch it, you will not regret it... yes you will shed some tears, maybe cry in the end if you are a human being, but it is not a classical "goodbye" speech at all.
just finished the book and the movie. cried in both. You are missed Randy. ❤

I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer last year. Reading Randy's book now, and they remind me so much of each other. My dad was also very into computers and had such an enthusiasm for life. He didn't quit fighting ever, not even at the end.
Brittany Douglas I’m so sorry about your dad. I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer at about the same time Randy passed away.
Wow. What an amazing man. I want to live my life better. I gotta watch this again and take notes. That brick wall thing really opened my eyes... It's only there to separate those who want it badly enough to fight for it from those who don't.
I am so glad I found this again. I haven't seen this in like 4 years and I completely forgot about it.
me too, then I decided to watch it again!
Had to read the book for school. Watched the lecture for knowledge. Awesome.
It is deeply unsettling that this video has so few views. I cried in the end.
Learned about this in class and all I want to say is this is so inspirational to all the people who have seen it.
To imagine a person suppose to die in some months sharing wonderful and a marvelous guidance to future generation is really astonishing and unbelievable.I am really honoured to hear and read great LAST LECTURE.God should have given him long life for great contributions.I am astonished to see the way he and his family faced the inevitable.I can understand the underwent by them because my beloved wife has been operated and is under medication for breast cancer. However we were lucky as she was in stage one.I strongly recommend people suffering from deadly diseases to draw inspiration from this most remembered humanity.
m a complete stranger to this beautiful soul. But the last few minutes of the lecture and especially when citation and praises from his collegues were made I couldn't believe that this episode brought me to tears. Why God take him too soon we don't know. But I know God loved him more than we did.
This is heart breaking. This moment was so critical. His understanding this was one of the last few moments to leave an impact and a legacy. Wow. Just truly touched me and was hard to watch in the end.
I'm reading the book now. It's really Inspirational and great and I just can't put it down. I really wanna watch the video though.
A remarkable person and a true inspiration to mankind!! I have watched his lectures and re-tweeted them countless number of times and yet, every time I watch his last lecture, I tear-up!! R.I.P Randy:)

Just finished his book and now I’m here.. Randy is such an inspiration and I’m so heartbroken that he’s gone
Randy Pausch certainly an exceptional person and i am thankful that he reminds so many of us that every person matters and we all can reach our dreams as we become partners with others learning and making this world a better place to live.
Normally, any and every lecture, quote, and great advice just glides right over me. Randy Pausch's words here in this lecture have been the only in my life to stick and make such an impact. I think about this so often and I'm always happy to watch again.
It was a pleasure working with you, Randy. Godspeed.
What an amazing person. Im sorry that I was not been able to meet him in person. (I was 5 when he passed away)
May God bless you my brother. I wish you happiness from the core of my heart. :)
my entire outlook on life has changed. i read his book as well as watched this video and the interviews. he has inspired me. he led an amazing and inspirational life. I wish I could thank him personally for this new outlook on life I have.
This is one of the first videos I ever watched on CZcams, and it was life-changing.
This is what legacy should look like for every American.
I am so grateful that Mr. Pauch shared this part of his life with the public.
A friend of mine, knowing my interest in virtual reality, but also knowing how much I am invested in and value my children's lives and upbringing, suggested this to me today. I generally don't watch much more than a few minutes of any lecture I see on youtube, but this kept me rapt the entire way through. Thank you for posting this, allowing me to see it.
Let your children draw on their bedrooms' walls
I will
Just read the book. Lots to think about there. The last page is just hard... when she hugs him, she whispers in his ear, "Don't you die."
Very educative. I will always follow my dreams. Thanks Prof Randy Pausch.
Thanks Randy, you are truly an inspiration! May your soul rest in peace and your wife and children be forever blessed.
Awesome and powerful... Randy, wherever you exist right now, may your spirit continue to inspire others...
This was amazing.
I do not know how I am going to pick only one "take away" from this for my Communications Class.. I have 5 full pages of notes from this lecture and I plan on taking everything he said with me.
What a true inspiration he is, I had never heard of him until today, but I will always remember him and this video
so how was it ?
I watch this all the time, whenever I need some inspiration... very informative
thank you Randy...Thank you!!!!
I had to read his book years ago for a college class and write a paper on any of the concepts he talks about. (Mine was time management). After reading the book I watched this video. Still inspiring and entertaining to all who watch. His legacy continues to grow.
Live long or short is not the most important, He left the happiness and inspiration to people that is the value of his life.
I loved the book 😘 This is what you have had watched/read before you get children.
I am in a Transitions Class in College and we watched this on Thursday...Very inspirational!!! I am so glad to have seen this! "Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you want." Thank you Randy!
One of the best video. Randy Pausch you are the inspiration for million of people around the world and YES i am one of them. Thank you a very much

Sir (Randi Pausch),you are inspirational personality for all the human beings...
Thanks Mark... It's been a little while now, but it still gets to me now and then.
I watched this years ago and it left such an indelible impression on me. His profound words of wisdom. I watched it again this morning and realize that this man was a true Earth Angel whom blessed so many that crossed his path including mine.
What a great lecture..I love the book
Truly an inspiration..thank you thank you thank YOU.
I learned how to live again. Thank you!
just finished reading his book. what an amazing man..he left too soon
He did. But if he didn't have the tumor, we wouldn't have this lecture. If we didn't have the lecture, I would've given up on my dream of being an author.
@zelordofzepotatoes5274 you an author?
times of depression are most vivid ...really, very vivid and inspiring ...not now but later in life when looked back.
No one has inspired me more, than Randy Pausch!
Wish work life is richer like his. And how proud it would be to have colleagues like that .
@GabrielRobins-Thank you for posting the full version of "The Last Lecture" here. Even the video for this on CMU's own CZcams channel didn't have the first 8 minutes of introductions!
Worth the click. I just completed the boom and this is quite inspiring..
wow... great lecture...very sad too
He really is and will ever be an inspiration.
anyone listening to this on headphones, and hearing Randy's heart beat in the silence segments? either that, or something else thumping at a steady page.
Currently sick right now and watching this for homework but god damn this is making me tear up a bit
I am read yesterday his book. it is excellent and can't believable. I am Store it for my little son. because good lessons included for the future and life .

It means a lot to me at this time.
I sang the birthday song along with the video!
And then teared up a little...
Should be mandatory viewing in most high schools these days.
I see this, and I ask myself WTF am I doing with my life
I am sorry for the loss of your brother.
