I survived stage IV metastatic cancer. I was very lucky but it destroyed my life, my relationship, everything.... He was a huge inspiration and so was his wife. The care giver goes thru so much. I'm so lucky to be alive but heart broken over losing so much. It is indescribable what this disease does to the entire family. His wife on another video describes him asking her to overdose him on morphine if the suffering became too much, I experienced that & its heart breaking. I'm 2 yrs cancer free.

Sometimes things happen for a reason. If Randy hadn't had cancer, he wouldn't have been led to write the book or do his incredible last lecture and his message would not have gotten to all the people who have seen his video and lives would not have been changed. His students wouldn't be now passing on his message to countless others. His message will be shared for years to come through his youtubes and interviews. It will continue to change lives for a long time for those who take his message to heart.

I read his blog up until he couldn’t write anymore, when the cancer completely took over his body and it’s heartbreaking. I listen to “Time Passages” by Al Stewart and it reminds me of him. I come back to his lectures to remind myself to spend whatever time I have on this earth, wisely. Thank you Randy Pausch for giving me this gift, to love and cherish my loved ones and to be bold, courageous and to live my truth. You’ve blessed my life and I’m so grateful for your legacy 💛

Today, I received the news that my mother has Stage 4 lung cancer, and it will kill her. Due to various reasons, I haven't spent as much time with her, as I should have, these past 9 years. But since we've returned to the UK, we've been inseparable. Now I am with her and taking time off from everything to be with her and love her as she deserves. I will show this video to my mum, to encourage her. This is such a beautiful story about perseverance in the face of death, of our own mortality. *I had read the book years ago, and watched the videos, but it never became as real to me as it is now... losing my mum is going to be rough, but at least we can spend however long she has left, together, making each and every day count.

It moved me more than all of the other motivational or inspirational videos and books I've read in the past year. “Leave it all on the field. I’ve played the football games where you walk off the field and the scoreboard didn’t end up the way you wanted. But you knew that you really did give it all. The other team was just too strong. Sometimes you’re just not gonna beat the thing. But you want to walk off the field and say, “No regrets. I gave it my best shot.” And I wanted to walk off the stage and say anything I thought was important to say; I had my hour.”
    Best lines.

Just the other day she found out that it's back. The more I've read about the survival rate (8% live 5 years), the more I realize I need to spend time with her. This is never easy. It never seems real. It makes me wonder, "What's the meaning of life?" every time.

Could it be that Randy represents so many of us that are dealing with the abnormal issues in life, but he has allowed to leave us with map of example of how to live each day as if it is your last. Second chances are not promised. It is true that he was smart, and intelligent, but it is also true that many people thought that he was arrogant because he was smart, yet when God stepped in and turned his method of living in to a reality show, he shined. He left in truth and hope as his legacy.

It's worth finding Jai Glasgow's later interviews (and/or inputs from his CMU co-faculty) to learn (more) about the 360° Randy -- he was a would-be Casanova (was confronted by his targets' boyfriends), browbeat students until they cried, badgered his spouse into using his complex home-made budget/financial software, bought a sports car while arguing over (scarce) family finances, etc. To me, this doesn't diminish his message or tragedy or later-life epiphany -- just makes the man more "real."
