    Should i replace both chains if the vehicle has 87K miles or can i put them back?

    • @straightupbmw
      @straightupbmw  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Not really, unless you know they have stretched. I usually compare my chains to a new one and gage % of stretch

    Great video .
    How hard is to get this part out of the N55

    • @straightupbmw
      @straightupbmw  Před rokem +1

      Not very hard, comes out from the bottom. Bolt inside timing case is the hardest part

    To my understanding we only need one grip disk between the hub and the timing sprocket?

    • @straightupbmw
      @straightupbmw  Před 5 měsíci

      Yes
      A single individual grip disc between hub and and thinner sprocket
      The thicker sprocket has a grip disc built in

    Hello Ted. I have the newer N55 with the Hydraulic adjuster and was wondering what the Torque is for the 2 bolts. Thanks

    • @straightupbmw
      @straightupbmw  Před rokem

      Steel bolts - same as upper camshaft chain guide bolts 10-12 Nm

    I ordered the a new sprocket from BMW dealer and it doesn’t fit over my n54 crank hub. It’s the same one you have in this video, the diameter is too small.

    • @straightupbmw
      @straightupbmw  Před 5 měsíci

      Sprocket and hub needs to match when purchased

    So you can put the newer model with the hydraulic tensioner into the n54?

    • @straightupbmw
      @straightupbmw  Před rokem

      N54 uses the spring tensioner, N55 newer model uses hydraulic tensioner or change it over to spring tensioner

    • @straightupbmw
      @straightupbmw  Před rokem +1

      No my mistake you have to go back with spring tensioner- the N54 block does not have the additional access cover on the front to loosen the hydraulic tensioner
