I just bought a Corolla Cross Hybrid over a week ago and I couldn't be more happy with it. It has almost every feature I dream of having. I am 6'4" with a high leg to body ratio and I am able to comfortably fit in the driver's seat without needing to move the seat all the way back.
I really enjoy your videos. Your format is direct and to the point without a lot of fluff. Great job!
I have that HRV. And I’ll tell you it’s an amazing car! I’ve only had it for 3 months but I’ve taken it cross country and I have fallen in love with it. The Toyota is nice too. But I like my Honda better.
I gotta cross. It was price for me . I gotta a l trim for 21,500 dealer took 2000 off msrp. I drove a hard bargain we were negotiating for what seemed like hours, I paid cash
158 HP just doesn't do it for me. Their biggest complaint is that they are gutless. The Corolla Cross Hybrid has 196 HP.
My daughter replaced her past down 2003 Camry with 208 trouble free Kmiles for the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross and she loves it. She searched Honda HRV but bought Toyota knowing how reliable her Camry is and Toyota after sales support from manufacturer, dealers, independent mechanic, spare parts logistics and pricing is superior to all regardless of class or price range. Toyota system is number one and unparalleled.
This video helped me to decide which one to buy. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!!!!
I bought a Toyota Corolla Cross two weeks ago and I really like it❤
I ordered a Honda HR-V LX AWD earlier this month. Just waiting for the delivery. I'm excited to get it. Great video.
The rear legroom killed the deal for me for the cross. The HRV has 4-5 inches more leg room. I paid a few thousand more for the HRV and loved it so far. The interior space is as large as an accord. I agreed that it isi one of the cars you want to keep for a long time. Don't overlook the rear legroom if you have a small family. Kids grow up fast..
Thanks for pointing this out - rear legroom is a pet peeve of mine - I'm only 6' 2" and while I don't often sit in the 2nd row, when I do it's often an uncomfortable affair.
I bought the cross. I like the hrv really good. But my Toyota dealer cut $2,000 of msrp bringing my total to $21,500
God. This. you can NOT fit a carseat in the Cross. Looking to trade in for the HRV asap. What a joke
@@andrewharris9302 good price! where is it?
@@andrewharris9302 What dealership? I might have to fly to buy cheaper, where im at they have a stupid mark up. $4k+
Shari, we are thoroughly enjoying your videos - they are extremely well-presented. Question - how difficult do you think it would it be (20Aug) to get a 23 Bolt EV in London, ON? thx, Raj
Thanks for the excellent comparison/review of those two vehicles. I hope that you'll do a comparison of their hybrid versions once the Honda HR-V hybrid is available.
i currently have the 2021 hrv and am considering leasing the updated version since I really love my current one. They both seem to be apples for apples the same but, the hrv is larger but the price is higher. The fuel economy is a lil better in the toyota. Guess I will have to look at the color choices and take a test drive to decide
We went with a 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross and we love it so far. I didn’t notice that it’s a bit loud until I saw a review for it. You can’t beat Toyota’s reliability and I feel it has a little more pick up than the HRV.
Is tge loudness the same for the xle 2.0 awd trim?
HR-V the best to buy good looking and quality
the pricing may have changed becuase the corolla cross is now about $2,000-$3,000 more than the HR-V and are some without AWD
great show thanks😄
toyotas for life
1. has more features
2. reliable
3. better resell value
4. cheap on maintence
5. offer hybrids!
Not to add the perfect size as a Subcompact. HRV is almost as big as the CRV at 183 or so in length.
Maintenance is by far more expensive on a Toyota than a Honda.. and they are a pain to work on everything is plastic now..
The Honda looks way better to me, but the corolla seems to be the better buy.
3:00 2020 honda HRV that i have, engine is definatelly not quiet, it's weak, but sounds like a sports car when you floor the gas pedal to get to 60mph :) I think I'll be switching to RAV4 next year.
The reasoning does make sense. I had a corolla for 12 years and at 240,000 miles, it still runs great. However the 2023 Honda HR-V does look like a really nice SUV.
They are both great cars. However for the price and the Corolla name and reputation and build quality, and resale value, it is the Corolla cross for me. But the Honda and cx 50 would be a second choice.
I do my own maintenance and the Honda is far easier to work on yourself.
@@Hardworkpays209 Too bad it's gutless. I like a car with some get up and go!
@@johnwetzel1048 I wouldn’t say gutless at all. The cvt bleeds a lot of power if you just mash the gas but if you give it about 3/4 then roll into full throttle it has some pep. Gotta let the cvt catch up. Everyone I seen that said it’s slow just mashes the gas. It’s not a sports car and I didn’t buy it to be one I bought it because it’s one of if not the only Japanese suv that comes with a standard 4banger no hybrid no turbo just a good ole k20…
Both are excellent, but I ended up going with the Toyota XLE AWD, It was a better, smother ride, (driver)
Thanks pro 👍
The 2023 HRV does have a hybrid option. Thanks for the review, you helped me decide 🙂
I have corolla cross bought last year and i love it.. for me its the hp 169 and im 4'12 audio is very good too and its made in USA the gas is 29 to 34 driving it 45 back in forth and right now i had 40k miles on it... no complaint and i love it
How are you 4' 12? That would be 5 ft even... just saying
The pricing for the 2024 models didn't seem to be much different between the two, in my area in southern Ontario but maybe I didn't shop around enough. I just bought a Honda HR-V (LX AWD) for a base price of $31260. To be honest, the wait time was shorter (I got it in 3 weeks vs what would've been much longer for a Corolla Cross) which mattered as my current vehicle was experiencing mechanical issues. Loving it so far! Thanks for your great videos
The HRV looks really good in the color combination shown on this video.
You always give a excellent report, thank you. I wish Honda HRV would have the plug in hybrid. America seems to be behind with offering compact suv that are hybrids compared to Europe. I would love the Honda but mpg are not very good. I have a Honda Fit 2007 and love how it handles it was made in Japan.
Hopefully a hybrid is coming
dont hybrids normally lose the spare tyre?
I have the Honda HRV sport 2024! Gotta say I have no regrets! 🔥car is amazing!
Given its size is the hrv really a subcompact?
Waiting for this ❤️
I like the better gas mileage with Toyota / also being a smaller person - visibility is very important - as well as an overall better price tag for Toyota - however I would have to take a closer look at the warranties and maintenance packages on both vehicles to make a final decision / your presentation was very well done - thank you 😊
I think you will love the Cross.
I'm a short person -- under 5' tall. And in the Cross, even at the highest seat setting, I still couldn't see the front of the car; and the steering wheel cut into me, with limited adjustability.
How available is the cross hybrid xse?
I had a 2017 HRV. It was cheaply made, poorly insulated and had a bad battery. I did like the rear seats being able to flip up for more room in the back
Both, however, need to address the lack of power issue. I think Honda could address that pretty easily with the 175 bhp L15B turbo engine, which is found on the Chinese market HR-V models.
The 1.5t is a terrible engine. They made the right choice knowing people are gonna buy this for it’s reliability..
It's the Cross all day every day for me for these specific reasons......1) the cross offers rear AC vents and rear USB ports...That alone is why the Cross will ALWAYS take the cake. It doesn't matter that the "quality" of the products are not the same or the infotainment system is not "as" updated.... The Cross is more of a practical vehicle. Not to mention the panoramic roof that you can get on the cross and the better gas milage. Now is the HRV a better vehicle to look at, sure ! lol It's gorgeous...If you just want a "pretty" vehicle to drive around in by yourself, that has no functionality, then sure.....go with the HRV.......But I'll take the Cross allay, everyday...
more legroom in the rear is more practical
@@konic40 I can agree with you that legroom is great. But how far will leg room take you when your px can not get AC nor charge their entertainment devices mmm....gotta think about that. I think legroom, over functionality in a vehicle this size is probably not a deal breaker....but no rear USB ports ..for sure a deal breaker for someone looking to buy in this bracket.. (small suv).
HRV is the far better car but DAMMM why does the mpg have to be so bad, hope they come out with a hybrid soon, but seeing as the base already costs $25k I imagine the hybrid will start at around $27k or $28k
It’s almost impossible to test drive a Toyota cross as of 3 weeks ago. There is no supply. I was told a 8 month wait if pre-ordered.
I tried test driving a corolla cross earlier last year. I’m 5’8”, and felt really cramped on the drivers seat even after adjustments. It might look decent on the outside, but has much less interior space that I thought.
Might be a Toyota thing. I was looking to buy a SUV, never owned a Toyota before and test drove a couple of them. They felt really cramped inside, I'm 6ft. Ended up going with a MDX because it was more roomy and had more to offer.
Go get a bigger SUV. This is compact SUV
@@lot5953 it really is a sub compact
did you have a bigger car before? I'm the same height and I felt like I had a lot of room in the cross but my last car was a vw beetle
Really? I just bought a corolla cross hybrid over a week ago and I am 6'4" with a high leg to body ratio and I had no problems comfortably fitting in the drivers seat. In fact I don't think I even put the driver seat all the way back the way I currently have it. The back seat however is pretty cramped I will give you that, but it is not everyday I have people in the backseat anyway and either way it is their problem if they don't have enough legroom and not mine.
Best of luck trying to find a Corolla Cross atleast here in Canada. The HRVs are however sitting at the dealerships trying to find a owner. Having said that, I would prefer RAV4 LE which is less expensive than the top EXL trim of HRV or the same price as that of Sport trim of HRV.
Chip shortage would probably be a deciding factor for me. I just returned from dealership in Toronto: waiting time for a new Corolla Cross is around 1 year while for HR-V it's around 4 month
16 month wait for my wife's cross and 8 months for my 4runner.
WTH? That's crazy.
Chip shortage is not an issue anymore. The reason why we don’t have cars in dealership is just because MANUFACTURERS limit their production. Low supply makes the prices goes up. It works for them!! Making a lot of PROFIT!
Is the hrv hybride à 5 or 4 seats?
Great comps!
Both are great vehicles. The honda has a more refined look as it's overall appeal. The Toyota as with most has that practical look along with more simplicity that equals less to go wrong, a history of consistency. I like practicality and have always gotten that with Toyotas, no surprises.
Honda has the same makeup in the engine as the Toyota overall. That's good.
Honda simply has always made the BEST small engines in the World, PERIOD. I have a 32 year old Honda hydrostatic riding lawnmower all original including the tires, yes, and it uses no oil nor leaks anything and strong as ever, incredible.
I'd have to drive both of these to really decide, but I'm very impressed with that Honda quality look and sheen. It would have to be the newer 23 model if I did go with Yota with the upgrades.
Visually, the Corolla Cross's suspension dampers seem to have a slower-motion calmer ride?
But “Corolla's multi-link rear suspension” is castrated on the Corolla Cross.
They both ride well but the HR-V feels a bit more solid and agile
Where I live the Corolla cross for the top trim is 1k up to 3k more than the HRV top trim at the dealers after all the extra fees
Then I'd take the HR-V 👍
I was between the cx5 and HRV. Went with the HRV and love it. Not a lot of power or acceleration, but very smooth. Has a sport mode that helps.
Sport mode noting change except color on instruments. Its placebo.. ;)
I have an HR-V 6-speed manual. Four a 4-cylinder, the acceleration is pretty good on the stick
How is merging on the highway? 11 seconds from 0 to 60 is pretty slow.
@@level7041not bad at all. I saw a lot of complaints regarding the 0-60 before I purchased, but rest assured it is no issue at all
@@swaynews8395 Actually I ended up purchasing one after a test drive. I found it fine on the highway in NORMAL mode. I use ECO for city driving. I was lucky because someone cancelled their order and I ended up with an HRV just 1 week after the order..
Great comparison. Toyota all around better purchase, but HRV best looking, more space and best driving experience.
I think you can get a power lift gate and power drivers seat in the Corolla cross. I’d go with the hybrid for sure!
Good point both features you don't get in the HR-V
@@carhelpcorner Also rear vents, rear armrest, and rear cupholders on the Corolla Cross.
@@carhelpcorner you get a power drivers seat on the HRV in the EX-L trim. I sat in a CC (couldn't test drive any because they were sold, so I bought an HRV which I could test drive twice!), and the CC has a very cheap and honestly, kind ugly interior. I love Toyota, but their interior styling and quality is awful, just my opinion!
@@bettysmith4527 I agree, Honda HRV's interior styling just feels premium in quality. But the price difference and hybrid option of the Corolla Cross nudges it for the win!
@@johnxnor1711 The corolla Cross Hybrid isn't even in showrooms yet, so unfortunately it may take months to get one if you choose to. I could not even get an HRV after two months of waiting, so I went with a new 2022 Honda CRV Ex, which has more fetures and power than the HRV, for about 1500ish more when compared to the HRV EXL I wanted. Picked the new CRV up today, and so far I am very happy with it!
Does the HR-V have seats with enough comfort for longer trips???
I really appreciate this video. I am interested in both of these models. The price difference in Canada between the HR-V and the Cross has evaporated in 2024. There is a $450.00 difference in the basic models. However, if you are financing with them the HR-V has an interest rate of 7.69% for 6 yrs. while the Cross has 6.99 % for 6 yrs. I won't be buying for at least a year until I see better interest rates and better pricing. 🇨🇦
I am disappointed that the lengthened the HR-V and took the back seat up away.i love the size of my 2016 HR-V. It is so easy to park. I don't want a larger SUV. Will have to reconsider my next car.
Corolla cross cvt is K cvt? Different from hrv cvt transmission?
I just saw my first HR-V. Man it looks GOOOOD! But I don't like it's growing girth and weight, as it approaches CR-V dimensions.
I still miss the Fit as a simple, affordable entry car. Bummer.
When will Honda come out with a hybrid HRV in thr USA?
which cabin is quieter
Do the comparison of honda Crv 2023 and Toyota Rav 4
I was very disappointed to see that Toyota is only using TSS 2.0 (some models are on 3.0). Has Honda toned down their safety system? I've heard a *lot* of journalists point out how twitchy the automatic emergency braking (and perhaps also adaptive cruise control) is.
The safety system in the 2023 Corolla Cross is Toyota's top of the line 3.0 version.
The corolla cross is at its first gen so maybe at there second or third gen they will be even better 😊
2023 Honda HRV EX-L all the way!! Love mine. Drives and handles even better than my 2016 Accord. Elegant and sophisticated look inside and out.
But that grille though 🤷♂️
I would be really interested in their crash test scores.
I haven’t driven the Corolla across yet, but I test drove the HRV. It felt very substantial and solid for what’s supposed to be a sub-compact SUV econobox.
Kia Sorento is the most solid in crash test
@@gutadin5< But it’s a KIA.
@@gutadin5 the sorento isn’t even part of this market. These are tiny entry level SUVs, the sorento has a third row lol.
I can speak for myself: I own an HR-V and was in two car accidents. That thing takes a hit like a tank.
I was never harmed, not so much as a bruise, I love my HR-V
@@MsBerries25 Wow! What model year is your HRV?
Honda includes heated front seats, universal garage opener, moon roof in the price. Toyota gives customers the choice of adds on. So the price comes out the same. Most of the Honda CRV and HRV have bigger cargo space than Toyota. Honda’s seats is much more cushier than Toyota.
And a remote start on the key fob
Did you actually drive or at least sit in either of these vehicles? This sounds like a spec-sheet comparison using manufacturer B-roll footage.
As a person who’s six feet it was pretty comfy
Which one best?
I've driven all these car....buy a cx50 base model. Dealer r giving over 2k off msrp. I got mine for under 29k. Way better than any hrv or corrola.
Nice review. Do you know if the Honda has a timing chain or belt?
That is a good question even a lot of salesmen would not be able to answer it. Most manufacturers are moving away from timing belts now early breakages tend to give cars a bad name and lost sales down the track. I wouldn't buy a new car that uses a timing belt and i am an engine reconditioner.
Timing chain
I chose the 2022 Mazda CX-30 CE (Carbon Edition) AWD 6-AT myself & have had it for almost a full year now with literally zero defects/problems/issues. I had a pretty bad 2020 model year Toyota experience & found that they don't build them like they used to. Honda is also now coasting on an outdated reputation (I drove nothing but Honda/Acura for about 30 years before finally giving up on them). No thanks to crappy belt/chain design CVT's & under-powered engines (or eventually-problematic turbo engines for that matter).
Mazda CX-30 is a great choice but interior spase is the worst in class
@@eugenes9620 It's definitely more of a vehicle for only 1-2 adult sized passengers (up front). People who need to haul adult-sized passengers in the rear seats all the time should by buying CX-5 or larger vehicles, not the smallest crossover size segment offered in North America.
Thinking about Corolla Cross Hybrid. Might have to wait a while.
like 2 years..
@@level7041 Wow. That is crazy long.
@@user-mn5hm3ez7o I heard between 1 and 2 years for any Toyota hybrid.
@@level7041 lol. 2023 cross hybrid is coming. Corolla cross hybrid is an option in asian countries 2 years ago til present.
@@level7041 Not in the USA, the wait is about 3-6 months, sometimes even less! The biggest issue is that the Corolla Cross Hybrid version isn't even on sale yet, so that may take months!
What cities was this video filmed? Very intriguing area.
It does look like a movie set.
“Watching as i glance at my 2023 RVR out the window” 😊
I just wish the there were vents in the back seat.
I bought the HRV and so far the experience has been great. It feels solid, the interior quality is superb and it is very comfortable. I do recommend the HRV.
Waiting for mine! So glad to hear you are loving your HRV!
How much over Monroney (MSRP) did you have to pay? Just curious since I'm looking at this and the Toyota, plus the next size up Honda (CRV) and Toyota (RAV4.)
@@jsfbay1 my dealership asking 4k over. I got them to 3k...
@@jsfbay1< You won’t go wrong with the Cross.
Sure wish the Cross came in the same cool Grey color as that HRV.
It's silly because the Rav4 comes in that color.
Note that Honda dropped over the years in reliability, dependability, on J.D. Power and similar web sites. The top-5 brands are Toyota, Lexus, Kia, Hyundai, Genesis. And Porsche. Honda is well below. Given these cars are transport, not sports/luxury, it would give Toyota Corolla Cross a big lead over Honda HR-V. There is also cost of ownership, servicing and repairs where usually Honda is more expensive to service and repair than a Toyota. And a Hybrid Corolla Cross with AWD is both faster, has more grip and is more economical than Honda HRV.
My thoughts exactly. I can't deny Honda has better style though.
Kia's get broken into and stolen every 5 seconds; Kia Boys. There's a class action lawsuit against them.
Corolla cross hybrid is hands down the BEST . The agility , the mileage , super effortless driving and silent engine .....the smooth drive and the plush interiors in burgundy give it a very rich look . Love my Corolla Cross Hybrid .
This close to full electrification, I would pass on anything less than a classic Hybrid. So, I presume two Hybrid versions will be reviewed soon. I'll be standing by.
This a utility vehicle for us, so a base Hybrid trim suffices. MPG's rule over performance for a utility ride around here.
Most probably however, in THIS case, Toyota Cross wins. IMHO.
cant wait for all those dead lithium batteries with no good way to recycle them
The hrv looks better.
I love mine I got the exl
@Brendan Sword same here...I got the meteor gray, the leather just feels so good!
Nope looks like a outstretched frog!ugly ugly!it does rise better and have better acceleration than the cross tho
@@TragickSinthe corolla cross looks like a cat with a face mask. The interior looks sub premium.
Got the EX-L in Nordic Forest and do not regret it a bit. I just love it.
Toyota is now charging a subscription fee to be able to use remote start. I was looking at the Cross until the dealership told me this.
Can you get aftermarket remote starter
I found a Honda stealership selling a 2023 HRV for $50,000 Canadian!!! WTF!??? I will go with the Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid. I don’t need one for a couple of years so I can wait.
Welp, I test drove an HRV twice since Honda is actually smart enough to force dealerships to have a demo, and since I cannot find a Corolla Cross to test drive, guess which one I ordered?!
I can’t find a dealership who has a tester. Customers are placing deposits as they are in transit…unfortunate. I am holding off for the exact color, trim & interior… are you perhaps under 5 feet? I can’t find any reviews for people who are on the shorter side. Hope you are loving your HRV!!!
@@julesinwonderland9102 Hi, I am 5'4" and it was fairly comfortable. Have you called a lot of dealerships? Two of them n my area had demos to drive, so I am sure if you call around there might be a dealership in your area that has one. Another thing you could do is put a deposit on one and make sure it's refundable, the if you drive it and don't like it you can get your money back. I sat in my friend's new Subaru Crosstrek, and honestly I liked that better than the HRV. It was more comfortable and I felt like the inside was better put together, however running into the issue of none available to test drive. 🤷♀ I am waiting for the next allocation of HRVs so mine isn't even on the way yet.
@@bettysmith4527 I have put my information out to about 6 surrounding dealerships and none available to test. I also want to test the Toyota Cross & Crosstrek. Originally, I had my heart set on the Forester, but they have gotten too big for my liking- I hope you get your car soon!
@@julesinwonderland9102 Sorry you were unable to find a demo HRV, hopefully you can maybe put a deposit down and just see if you like it, if not get money back. I test drove a lightly used Sbuie Crosstrek today, it was the more affordable premium trim level (My friend has the limited high end with leather), it was a 2021 because they had no new ones for a test drive, but I did not like how it drove or handled, the cloth seats were incredibly uncomfortable, and the screen was so tiny it was barely visible. The limited is nicer with leather and a much larger screen, but it also has a much larger price and it doesn't even include a moon roof or auto dimming mirror, all extra. The HRV is MUCH nicer in my opinion, it's much better looking with a more modern interior and better tech. I also felt like it handled much better with a smoother quieter ride, so I am sticking with the HRV, as I also don't trust Subaru for reliability, they have a lot of complaints about expensive issues. I would have liked to test drive a corolla Cross, but like you I cannot find one just to test drive since there are no used ones available as it is a newer model, but I did hear they are not as nice on the inside and have. a lot of road noise. . Anyway, good luck with your search as well, I do hope you find a new ride soon!
@@bettysmith4527 I am in contact with a local dealership who will be getting a demo car soon! As soon as I know it is the best option for me, I will put a deposit. I am going for the EXL AWD Pearl white with grey interior. So classy!
I have tested a Crosstrek and didn't like the way it handled either, I test drove the 2022 HRV but, felt it was a bit too snug for me and the pricetag was just as much for the 2023 with Leather and bells & whistles that I want. Thank you for the well wishes!😊
Got to go with the Corolla Cross, a nicer looking vehicle.
In conclusion either one is good, at the end is which brand you like more, personally Hondas have to much road noise, and that HRv is a heavy one, fuel efficient is less than the Cross.
The tire of the HRV is noisy in highway.you cannot listen to any music. I was looking at cross, HRV, Crosstrek and Tuscon. All of them were almost the same price for me except cross which was 2-3k cheaper but the wait time was 2-3 months. I was leaning to Crosstrek and it has more legroom than cross and very similar to HRV. But the look and the interior design of HRV won. I skipped Tuscon due to the recent fire issue and questionable reliability. I ended up getting a HRV and have been driving it around 2 months. The quality is not as good as the old Honda but definitely better driving experience than cross which is typically Toyota.
If the new HR-V offered the turbo 1.5, I'd buy one today. The current sluggish 2.0 is a deal breaker for me although it's a nice new redesign
I believe turbos put more pressure on engine seals for premature breakdowns
1.5t is just an outright terrible engine… the head bolts stretch and blow the gasket..
Love my Corolla Cross dont know what he's talking bout low power back in the 80's,90's'20s the cars had alot less power having too much power is a real issue cause the cars that have too much power are under built and have issues with substandard parts the cross seems to have the perfect balance people need to not expect so much
In this particular comparison, I think that the HR-V wins by a nose (the nose being interior room; a must for all crossover utility vehicles to provide and to ensure good sales)
HOWEVER,
Being just shy of 60 and with no small children, being that Toyota will offer the HSE hybrid with more power, standard AWD and better fuel economy, not to mention that you can get a Corolla Cross with AWD and a nicer trim level for about the same price as the HR-V, I think I'll wait for that HSE and if it costs too much more, then I'll probably buy that Corolla Cross with AWD in a higher trim level. Might as well be pampered while I'm being reamed for thousands of dollars, right? 💰!
Great review Shari, this Honda HRV sounds better than Toyota Cross however Toyota will age gracefully.
Hondas normally spend more effort on handling and tech but Toyota is going to be bulletproof as usual and will outlast anything in this segment.
With that amazing K20 engine, I wouldn't be surprised if the HR-V matches the Toyota for longevity
@@carhelpcorner it’s hit and miss with Honda, I had K24 it blew cylinder one…never had any engines blow from the ones that I owned in 80s and 90s. All quality issues started 2010s and up with Hondas.
@@Thankyou_3 yes. It is my fifth Honda. I had the 88 prelude. The best Honda I had. It was so fun with the stick shift and no issue except minor water leaking in the sunroof. Then I owned 06 accord and not a single issue for 9 years, then I owned the 15 Accord hybrid and no issue for 8 years. Now I got the HRV for my wife and let's see..

both Honda and Toyota have a reliable CVTs
As I already own a Honda vezel since 2016, I personally think that I better upgrade to the bigger brother which is the CRV Hybrid.

@@gutadin5 yes & till date, I don't have any problem with it.
@@RAVI171175 how many mileage now on the odometer?
They are both, but what you said very well. Plus, the Cross has an available JBL system.
With that said, even though I like Toyotas, I would take a Camry SE over an Accord Sport, but would opt for a Civic Sport Hatchback over a Corolla SE, and would choose a FWD Urban Grey Pearl HR-V Sport over the Cross.
The Sport looks and handles better with the 18" wheels/tires than the EX-L, despite it having more bells and whistles.
The Sport is the best bang for the buck for the price, with manual adjust seats and no sunroof, which I prefer. And I am so glad it does not have the auto start/stop feature sone of the Civics are having problems with not restarting and being unable to start, etc.
And the Money saved with the Sport can be used to buy all the OEM and aftermarket accessories and equipment I would get.
Exl hrv comes with Bose
@Hardworkpays209 Os that in Canada? I know they often have different configurations from the US models, because here, none of the HR-V models have yhe Bose Stereo. I imagine they msy release a SportvTouring similar to the Civic Hatchback, Aldo, yhe rear of the center console hascdesign accommodations for A/C vents and additional USB charging ports, and they could always put a center armrestveith cuphokders on the rear seats.
With 2 this in current generation, HRV is true choice, of course.
Love the HRV
I got the 2023 Honda HRV sport better car more reliable last longer just a better car
I love my Corolla cross 2023
I am getting to the point where NOT having the start/stop option at a red light is a premium deletion. I have that "feature" on my honda and I come to a stop sign and the engine dies, "damn it, I forgot to press the defeat button". I try to remember to do that everytime I start the vehicle but often times I do not and it is frustrating. I wish Honda would delete that across the board. I think Madza does not have it or its recent addition. I live in the south where summers are hot and the a/c dies when the the engine shuts down. I certainly believe it negatively affects the starter and I know there are aftermarket kits to stop this. My car is nearing the end of the warranty period and my thoughts are leaning that way, but it involves disassembly of the console. I digress, I know but thank you honda for NOT putting it on one of your models.
🤐
Yes I love that Honda didn't bother with it in the HR-V
Are you talking about the brake hold button ?
On the Cross it only activates when you push down on the break harder while at a full stop. During my test drive I never even activated it.
I agree that the Honda 2.0 liter K engine should be very reliable. But what about the CVT? How reliable will that be?
I test drove the HRV and the CVT felt fine. No droning. But will it be as reliable as a normal automatic?
Great question. From what I I have seen on CZcams people change the CVT 20,000 miles. Idk
I always wonder about the CVT’s too. I’ve seen a video where a person had a newer Toyota Corolla (named “Toyota Corolla E210 transmission failure at 20,000 miles”) and the CVT had to be replaced early.
I’ve been looking at the larger SUV’s like the Toyota RAV4 non-hybrid that has a regular automatic and the Mazda CX-5 and cx-50 which also have regular automatics.
Why bother about the cvt. Both are cvt thus you like them or not. And almost never sub compact and compact will be cvt. Even mercedes, lexus. Bmw etc compact are using cvt.
I did some more research into this. It seems that Nissan’s Jatco CVTs really damaged CVT reliability reputation. Jeep CVTs also apparently were problematic.
Honda and Toyota CVTs seem to be much more reliable, in general.
Honda puts CVTs in just about all their cars and small/medium SUVs, basically anything smaller than a Pilot or Passport. So that is millions of Honda CVTs on the road over at least the last decade, a very large sample. And I didn’t read a lot of complaints. I did read a bunch of reviews saying the Honda CVTs were fine.
This leads me to conclude that I shouldn’t worry too much about the CVT in the HRV. Just make sure to change the transmission fluid on time and generally take good care of the vehicle, and should be good to go.
The same is true about Toyota CVTs.
Honda has the most reliable and dependable CVT transmissions in the market.
Car Help Corner just watched your video on the best SUVs to buy. That you posted 2 months ago. Really helpful. But the only thing I can't find is reliably info on fuel economy for diesel SUVs
Do you maybe know where I find legit info
I have the HRV for 2 months and average 29 mpg ( 2/3 highway and 1/3 city) driving.
@@ty4508 Thx for the reply👍. Did you used a app to calculate it?
@@marijnspaans6594 no, just the dashboard and the trip. I have over 1600 miles on it now. And based on the time I spent on highway vs city. I used the eco mode and around 65 miles in highway speed. In city, I typically drive around 25 since it is the new law in my state thatc ity speed limit is 25.
I looked at both vehicles and I like the Honda HR-V better.
HRV for the handling and legroom. Crossolla for the price and possible Hybrid. If its a tie I would go with interior color. The Crossolla light macadamia latte color looks so expensive and pops in the camera. What's the point of better materials in the HRV if everything is black on black.
Hrv doesn't have Usb port and AC vent on the 2nd row👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
@@bryllercrown3874 Good catch! USB connections are essential with everyone owning their own devices. AC is also nice to control from rear.
True a lot of black in the HR-V
@@jeretso there is a 12v behind the rear seat ( in the trunk). I used it for my kids to charge when we were on the road trip. I got a console cup holder from Amazon for the rear seat. The AC of the HRV is very cold. The honeycomb design is amazing. Cross or Crosstrek interior design is out-dated for me. The legroom of the cross killed the deal for me. I used to own the juke which was much faster than the HRV or cross. And it was fun to drive. But my kids grow taller and the rear leg room of the juke bothered them a lot. It was why I picked the HRV instead of the cross even I paid $3k more. I just wanted one car that will fit all my needs and the HRV size, look, Honda reliability just fitted my needs
@@ty4508 Yes you cant beat extra legroom. I like to ride in the back to test my vehicles :)
I hope both cars get the more powerful engine from their bigger siblings.
Hybrid vs non hybrid you might save 70 gallon of gas yearly if drive 10k miles per year. How much extra you pay upfront for getting a hybrid model? If $3000 extra, you might end up to see some gas $ saving after 8 yrs of ownership
Not to mention the cost to replace the battery, if you own the vehicle longer than 8 years!
I have been driving a hybrid accord over 8 yrs and it averaged 45 mpg life time. Now, I am worrying the battery and Honda said it will cost 4-5k to replace it and they said they may not have stock. I am planning to sell it before it becomes an issue. Too expensive to replace the battery. If you go hybrid, Toyota may be a better choice since they always sell a lot. And Toyota probably has a lot of spare parts around.
@@ty4508 It's not worth it honestly, they Carolla Cross Hybrid is only going to get a handful of MPG over the gas model, so the extra 3K you spend on the hybrid PLUS the risk of battery failure makes it not worth it to me. Also in ten years the demand for batteries for hybrids, as many of them will be about a decade old plus by then, may outpace the supply!
Corolla cross is winner for sure looks & reliability🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Love the Corolla Cross❤
