    I test drove both, the Honda HRV is leaps ahead of Toyota in build quality. I’ve owned Lexus and Toyota exclusively but the new Honda interior style and quality won me over. Just bought the 2024 Honda HRV, my first Honda ever. Toyota has work to do, the Walmart interior is a snooze.

    Great objective review video Drew and Mason! I’ve researched some of the Honda models. Being a diehard Toyota fan I will gladly choose the Corolla Cross over the Honda. Just my personal opinion. I’ve trusted Toyota quality for a few years already! Now if Nissan came out with something comparable then maybe after owning the Nissan Altima SR for 9 or so months (for me personally it was an excellent alternative to the Camry). And that’s saying something coming from a “Toyota” owner! Thank you for sharing this with us! Mark in Iowa.

  • @barbz_zayne

    The Corolla Cross XLE AWD would be a better fit for this comparison, as it has a more equivalent 0-60 time to the HR-V with its 2.0L (169 hp). The XLE is about the same price as the HR-V EX-L, however the mpg is a substantial difference. HR-V is 25 city 30 highway, whereas CC is 31 city 33 highway (with a slightly faster 0-60 time). The XLE also adds a 7 inch digital gauge cluster, power driver seat & heated front seats, fully LED headlights, and dual zone climate control, equivalent to the HR-V. Some things that the Corolla Cross XLE has over the HR-V EX-L:
    -Ambient Lighting
    -Power Tailgate
    -Rear Seat Air Vents & USB Ports + Fold Down Armrest
    Not to mention, Honda has had a large amounts of recalls lately, and their brand trustworthiness is downfalling. The HR-V currently has a problem with the back glass randomly shattering with the rear defroster active, yet the Corolla Cross has proven to be the more reliable option. Personally, I would skip the HR-V mainly because of the lack of rear seat amenities and the very very slow powertrain, and get the Corolla Cross in either the XLE AWD or XSE Hybrid AWD trim.

    Is there any way to add an aftermarket power lift gate to either one of these? I have had three Honda Accords and the one I have now is 15 years old with no issues. I would probably go with the Honda HRV but I am looking at neither as I would like to have a power lift gate in a new vehicle so I'm going to look at something else unless there can be an aftermarket lift installed.

They are the pragmatic choice. You're giving up comfort, interior quality, features, performance and style. You've got the Chevy Trax, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Kona, and Mazda CX3, and Subaru Cross Trek, all of which are vastly more stylish and offer more character and driving performance for the money.

    This was a good, clever video guys. The fact that you bring in the Toyota Corolla Cross-Hybrid version against Honda's HR-V already shows who wins the competition despite any shortcomings the Toyota may have.
    Affordability dictates I'm trying to save myself as much money as possible. So then, I'm not sure why Honda wouldn't make it a hybrid like Toyota does here in the US. Looks, comfort, and power alone are not where the customers are going when buying this class of vehicles and a 40+ MPG on an affordable SUV like these is a no brainer! Toyota Corolla Cross all the way brother!!

    MAJOR technical advantage of the HRV engine.... NO Direct injection! There is nothing more reliable than a multi-port fuel injection, non-turbo, 4 cylinder Honda! 90s SOLID proven technology. Now, with respect to the CVT, obviously this is the weakness for both. Toyota tries to improve their CVT by adding a traditional first gear before handing off to the CVT. The Toytota has Direct Injection and attempts to solve the intake valve clogging problem and reliability issues by ALSO having multi-port fuel injectors. (Eight injectors, instead of four, means more moving parts and injectors to fail or clog.) This sounds like a lot of problems.... new non-proven technology. The only problem that I see with the HRV is that it is manufactured and assembled in Mexico. To be exact, Celaya, Mexico. One of the most dangerous cities in the World. I can't help to think of the low wages paid to these workers in Mexico and their dedication, or lack of, to quality in such a dangerous city. Time will tell. I would rather have an American made Honda HRV, if it existed for us in the US.

    • @testtesting2868
      @testtesting2868 Před 3 měsíci

      No doubt it probably works well... but why have eight injectors when you only need four? Sadly, with more moving wear parts, Toyota's best reliability days are behind us. Especially with CVTs. @@sachinnair91

    Ah, the Honda HR! It's a popular choice when it comes to compact SUVs. Known for its reliability and fuel efficiency, the Honda HR-V offers a comfortable ride and plenty of cargo space. If you're considering getting one, it's always a good idea to test drive it to see if it's the right fit for you. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the Honda HR-V or if there's anything else I can help you with! 😄🚗
