Wonderfull just wonderfull wasn't it ? We where totaly in love with this abandoned home . Before we went in we went to the neighboors to have a little chat . They told us all about this abandoned home and the person that used to live here . The owner was Dave . Dave was an awesome man he loved life and enjoyed living . He was a regular of the neighboors and they came over to his house very often to grab a drink and chat . This house was just beautifull everything was left behind . It was sad to see that it was a little bit trashed . But that happens after some when buildings are abandoned . Some people just don't have respect . We would like to thank you just for watching the documentory and we will see you next week !đđđ

It's sad to think that when we die, everything we own is left behind...because the only thing you can take with you when you die, is your good deeds.

I was thinking along that line too. It reminds me of the scripture passage that says not to accumulate Treasures on Earth but to store them in Heaven. I hope that Dave has many Treasures in Heaven and that he is there with his Lord.

Although his children left the house and all of their father's things to be forgotten, look how many of us have had the joy of meeting Dave and had the privilege to walk with him through his home . You will never be forgotten now Dave. To both of you young men, thank you . Through you lens and exceptional dialogue , all done with the upmost respect , you have made this visit so personal that I feel like I knew him. Rest in peace Dave .
When the bed is found downstairs and all the bedrooms are upstairs, it usually means someone was having trouble getting up and down the stairs. An elderly person is most likely sick, weak or has some degenerative problem like arthritis or previous injury to back, hips or legs.

In American English, here in "The South", the "Shade" is usually called a "Screen". To be more specific, it can be called a "Dressing Screen" or a "Privacy Screen". It can also be called a "Room Divider", "Partition", or "Ornamental Partition", or "Decorative Partition". I too will echo the others, in saying that your voice is so lovely. It is a great pleasure to see your videos, thank you for giving us these things.
I love the way you always put everything back just the way it was. You are good kids, I'm so happy to see youth interested in history and respectful of other peoples property instead of breaking glass, tagging walls, stealing property and trashing the place. I love the wooden furniture. To think of it sitting there rotting makes me sad. The inlay on the dining table ... swoon... fabulous !
Most of that furniture could be cleaned up, and last for another 30 or 40 years. It's far better quality than you can find today.
I think maybe there was a bed downstairs as many old people can't climb stairs he had his bed downstairs. It's sad that his kids didn't think enough of him to come clear out his house. I really enjoy your videos the ones from the castles with the opulent furniture and clocks etc.
Or maybe he heated the downstairs only, so moved a bed down there. I once took care of an elderly man who had his bed in his kitchen. He closed up the whole house in the winter and heated only the kitchen. I have very good memories of visiting that sweet old man.

@@jenm9027 My wife's grandfather had a bed in the kitchen. But not because he couldn't heat the whole house. He was sick and it was easier for his wife to care for him there.
Seems like the children came and took some things, maybe didnât have room for a lot.
Such a shame that Dave's family are not bothered about the house, i imagine Dave took great pride in his home until he became too old to take care of it, maybe the bed is downstairs because he became to frail to manage the stairs? who knows? RIP Dave and god bless you.

The guys said the A. he did have children. And B. they weren't interested/ concerned with his house. And not to mention it's been at least a decade and a half - so it's safe to suspect that they do not care, which is quite sad.
I also think it is very possible, he ended up needing to sleep downstairs as the stairs would be too much in his later years. His family decided to just go there ways and he just had to find ways to deal with life. They maybe did visit if and when possible? I would hope. Life got busy once they moved away and had families of their own and could not go so much. He knew that area and it was home to him. Did not want to move. * Well we are making up our own stories now, but it does sound logical*.. LOL

You have gotten a new subbie. You guys made this owner a real person by calling him by his name, and that brought tears to my eyes. Also, it touched my heart and saddened me to know that Dave has a family, and they would not come and collect the memories, the hard worked for history, good or bad, that Dave held on to just for them. My mom passed on Nov 10th of 2016, she was found on the 11th, my family and I would have never left the things that my dad and mom worked hard to get and maintain, and moreover, the memories that they meant for us, will forever be cherished...I don't understand how a family, good, bad or indifferent, just walks away. Even the nightmares of a life within a family, can be sold and advance a family in one way or another. One would be surprised what can end up being therapeutic. Thank you for a great video!

Regarding the bed that was in the room off the kitchen: if the former owner was living there until he was in his 70's or 80's, he most likely wanted to live on one floor. Sometimes managing stairs can become difficult as we age. He may have wanted to be closer to the kitchen as well! Excellent work guys!đ

It was left derelict for 6 years. I'm living in it now. I've kept almost everything I could original. It feels like I'm surrounded by history. Much love xx

Sheatoto, I don't think his family is coming back any time soon to appreciate anything. The guys said that Dave died in 2002 or thereabouts, and neighbors hasn't seen any family of his on the property. One thing for sure, someone or something was at the property before this video and probably took stuff. Maybe the family is coming at night to pay their respects by taking something of value. The same thing is going to happen to us when we pass, family can be such a pain in the you know what.

I don't either. It's the home they grew up in too. I couldn't bear to see my childhood home fall apart like that. Maybe they're just too far away. Strange though.

I love watching the abandoned homes, mansions, farmhouses, estates etc. I have followed a few sites for around 2 years, I must say that you guys are so professional, easy to understand and most importantly you are very caring, gentle, and respectful to the sites that hold memories of the past for people you never knew. Here in the US an empty house attracts teenagers who want to drink and party as well as the homeless. Drug addicts also invade them. People have no respect. They vandalize homes with people living in them too. They just like to destroy, have no concept of respect.
Actually, in the united states, ppl usually strip the house of all it's copper to sell it. leaves the house torn apart, pretty sad!

Vandalism is narcissistic and selfish, it's stealing other's chance to discover those tokens of history and chance to enjoy them. I'll never fully understand why it happens.

....oh if you are referring to the things you get dressed/undressed behind, in American English its referred to as a "room divider" or "privacy panel", pick the phrase based on the intended use. I have noticed in your videos and other Urban Explorer videos that you find in older people's homes the bed has been moved down to the first floor kitchen area. It's just when people get older they can't handle going upstairs anymore and so they just kind of set up camp in one room downstairs it's much easier for them. I remember my grandmother doing that before she passed away.

Thank you for another beautiful look at someones life. How sad it is that his family hasn't come and by removing his things and bring closure to his life. When our parents die and we go through their belongings it is at that time that we see who they really were and what was important to them and the things they loved. It is these memories that we then carry for the rest of our lives about who our parents really were.

Geez! Have you not heard of Urban Exploration? It's a very common thing and most times the people who do it don't talk to neighbors and find out about the people who used to live in these homes. Most things like this the young do. Didn't you do ANYTHING when you were young? I'm 60 years old and I would urban explore if I had a decent camera. I have also seen someone in their 50's exploring with their adult son so it isn't always the young out there exploring.

It is sad when you think of all the times spent in the past with family, laughing and enjoying this lovely old home. Family sharing Christmas and all those precious times together, now only memories remain.
It always brings me joy to see young people who can see the beauty in old houses and furniture. Thank you for being so respectful of theses places and the belongings inside, your parents raised you well and should be very proud of you.
Dave's children really don't know how lucky they are to have inherited such a beautiful house and furniture some of us could only dream of owning. They could have at least sold it and donated the money to charity if it wasn't wanted by them.

I have a 5 paneled one behind my lg tv and tv cabinet. My hubby made it for me years ago and each time I redecorate the living room, I paint it to match my new decor. I use it as decoration.
When Dave got older THAT might have been HIS bed. I love the way you guys work. The respect you show towards the previous owners and THEIR Treasures...

Its hard to think of how hard people work for things in their life only to be left to decay after they pass away. Shows you that material things are not of the importance we put on them. Itâs who we are and what we do that carries on. Thank you for how wonderful you are in filming and showing the history. Most importantly what you share about the person or people makes it special.

The bed downstairs may be due to an injury by the owner. Maybe he couldn't get upstairs when he got close to the end of his life.

Its truly Heartbreaking when so many Elderly People are forgotten about by their family & friends! I was around both my parents & took care of them till the day they passed away. Love & miss them so much! The piece of furniture you called a closet in the bedroom is called a Wardrobe here in the USA. The piece of furniture upstairs for clothes is called a shift a robe, they were very popular in the USA. My grandparents had one in each bedroom and stored their clothes and bedding etc. in them. Love you guys.
I've heard it called similar.. I can't remember the exact spelling but it was always pronounced like " shiff a robe". spelled with a C maybe? I have only seen it spelled in the book : to kill a mockingbird.
