Half a Time Capsule
Sitting neglected and forgotten somewhere in the province of Ontario, Canada, lies this long abandoned farmhouse. There are a few smaller outbuildings as well as a fuel tank and the remains of a long since collapsed barn.
It was once home to Frank and his wife Amy who had lived here for most of their adult lives along with their children. They were farmers and they worked hard growing crops in the surrounding fields to pay the bills and feed their family. But farming is a laborious task, it takes its toll and farmers cannot work forever.
After they retired, Frank and his wife had many relaxing years together until Amy passed away suddenly one day. Frank was devastated and decided to fill his time by starting some renovations on the second floor of the home. But he couldn't bear to touch the closet full of his wife's clothes. Frank's health began to fail and when he could no longer manage the stairs, he turned the dining room into his bedroom. He would unfortunately pass away a few years after his wife while still living in this very home.
Since then the house has fallen into disrepair, with holes in the roof and even the exterior walls! And Frank's truck is still sitting alongside the driveway almost completely hidden in the very overgrown property.

18:23 That unique archway framing that gorgeous ceiling is astoundingly beautiful.
I agree. Thank you so much for your comments!!
Beautiful home but the water damage is just devastating. Its not hard to imagine how lovely it must've been. Thanks for sharing 😊
Ya, I think this home has been neglected for a very long time, it takes years to get into this state! Thank you very much for your comment!!
Interesting! Love the wood ceiling and the exterior. Have a good summer James! 🥰
The ceiling was great! Thanks very much for your comment Marilyn!!
Makes you realize that when you get to a certain age, you need to purge your stuff otherwise it's a huge chore for the kids to go through years of stuff. That was a nice home in a rural area. For me, it's sad to see the clothing the homeowners once wore. I enjoyed this video!
Ya the wife's clothing in the closet still was pretty sad to see! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Ty Mr. Static nice find! Beautiful home.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
That was a beautiful home 🏠🏡 I wonder if the family started to renovations and gave up very sad
Thank you very much for your comment!!
Such an amazing explore! The exterior almost looks like a castle. The archways and wood ceilings on the main floor were something to behold. We also really liked the ceiling light fixture in the upstairs bathroom.... So cool! Thanks so much for doing what you do and keep on keeping on. 👍
So many great things to see in this house, have to admit the ceiling was my favourite. Really glad you two enjoyed this one and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Thank you for taking us through this time capsule a sad one for sure with all the personal belongings still there giving us an idea on how these persons lived in the last years of their lives. Those arched doorways are something else and all the retro wallpaper how cool. Again thanks for the look into the past.
Ya those arched doorways really were interesting! I'm glad you enjoyed it Polly and thank you so much for your comment!!
Beautiful house, love the exterior brick and design. The details on the inside are very unique, especially the curved doorways, haven't seen that in a farmhouse before. Too bad it wasn't taken care of after the parents past, but we will never know why.
Yes those archways were one of a kind! Thank you very much for your comment!!
As mentioned in KathyR’s post, watching these videos made me realize I need to start purging. What helped me make a list of Purge/Sell and what to will to family is by watching Bargain Barons which sparked memories of things I have.
It never hurts to get the jump on those kinds of things!
Wow. So sad to see this beautiful house in such sad shape. You don't see workmanship like this anymore. And yes the chalkware figure was a pekingese dog.
Chalkware eh and a pekingese, thanks very much for that info!!
Such a great find! Love the design of the pkace, too bad its on its last leg at this point. Loved this!
Ya it unfortunately doesn't have much time left. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for your comment!!
What a neat house! Loved the style, and those ceilings on the first floor were great! I'm honestly surprised with how bad the roof looks, yet the main floor still appears habitable.
I agree, after seeing the roof and the wall, I was very surprised at the condition of the house. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
What a beautiful brick exterior and the interior woodwork. Too bad it’s all coming down because of the leaking roof. Thanks…
Yes, I think this house has been being neglected for a lot longer than 10 years. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Such a sad sad house - once beautiful and loved. It's a shame the family members have not removed the lovely old items that could find a new home where they can have a second life.
Shame that the house was allowed to fall into such disrepair that it most likely won't be saved.
Most definitely. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Cool space James.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!!
I had that very same microwave in 1984!!! LOL
I was worried there was a head in thar pot on the stove.
Oh cool. Ha, wouldn't that have been a surprise when I opened up the lid! Thanks very much for your comment!!
Hi James! Great house. So many old things to see and the decor and woodwork was great to see. Very interesting place. These farmhouses with the towers are definitely different. Haven’t seen many of them about. Thanks for the video!
No, there really aren't too many farmhouses with towers, we really need to preserve the ones we have. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
@@StaticSpaces They are a strange style/feature for a farm house, but interesting to see different styles
Such a wonderful home in its day!!! I missed part of the premiere so I watched it when I got home❤. The woodwork was beautiful !! I loved the ceiling downstairs ❤. Staircase was nice too!!!! Wallpaper was very nice. I seen lots of beautiful old furniture that needs to be saved It looked like someone was packing things up to move. Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see any photos? Thank you for another amazing video!!! You do a great job❤️. Pam❤❤
There was only one baby photo that I found, I filmed it but then decided to exclude it for the video. So many cool things in this home. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for your comment!!
@@StaticSpaces you are very welcome!!❤️
You can tell it was such a beautiful home at one point. I think the kitchen probably had the first upgrade (likely in the 60s, going by the cabinet handles). Not sure when the main floor bath was added, but certainly upgraded in the 80s or so, along with other areas of the home. Such a shame it's seeing this deterioration, but in this day and age, it'll likely get torn down eventually anyway. Wish they could at least save the brick and nice things like the interior doors though. 😐 Anyway, thanks so much for another cool explore James! Stay safe! 😊
Ya, I think this one will be too far gone to save unfortunately. It's a shame because we don't have many houses with towers like this one. Thank you very much for your comment Carrie!!
Thanks for awesome video I enjoyed watching
No problem, glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much for your comment!!
That wooden ceiling is very nice. I imagine the house was pretty impressive back in the day, especially being located in such an idyllic setting. Thanks for sharing this!
Oh yes, I am sure it was quite the place to see driving by. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Thanks for another great video/tour James. Beautiful home, can just imagine how it was back in the day. Sad to see the place sitting there empty. Loving these old style homes. Thanks again James. Much love and stay blessed🥰🤗😊❤✌👍

@@StaticSpaces Your welcome James. Have a good week, take care😊
Nossa que lugar maravilhoso uma paisagem muito linda eu amei o papel de parede na casa 🏠 o forro de madeira é muito bonito da dó ver se destruindo mas amei o vídeo❤
Ya that wooden ceiling was incredible. And the house certainly was in a nice area. Glad you enjoyed it Maria and thank you very much for your comment!!
Hi James!❤ I’m so sorry I missed this, I’m watching the replay now. I hope you have a great day
No problem ToT, I hope you enjoy it! And thanks a lot for your comment!!
The water damage in the ceiling looks like an old map.
Ha, you are right, it does! Thank you very much for your comment!!
Yeah 🎉I love these kinds of videos the best. I really love the house it's unfortunate that it's falling into disrepair 😢. Very unique design in the outside as well, pretty. I think family members just give up on cleaning out home's of loved one's and selling the property. I sold my parents home and sold their furniture etc and gave items away as well. It's hard to do for sure.
Thank You! ❤ I enjoyed your video.
It is a very difficult thing to do but glad you managed to get through it. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Hello James! I am a new viewer, and I absolutely love this Static Space for sure. Such an old farm house vibe for sure. Reminds me a lot of my great grandfather's home here in Nebraska. He too was a farmer. I am sure you've already been told, but the ceramic dog is a Pekingese...used to have one when I was younger. The wallpaper in this house reminds me of so many from my past. And I always love the light fixtures and such from these old homes. You do an amazing job on your explores, and I will continue to be a faithful watcher. Take care & God Bless....Lora from Nebraska
Appreciate you letting me know it was a pekingese, that's what most others have said too. I am really glad you are enjoying the videos Lora and thank you so much for your comment!!
15:22 Check out that England Law Book 1756 to 1878! What a ton of history is in there.
Oh wow, at the time I hadn't realized it was that old!
13:26 That door must be really wide to have been able to fit that freezer in there. 13:48
New subscriber. I’m happy your channel popped up for me. I’m going to enjoy catching up on your videos. My favs are homes prior to 1910.
Well I am glad you found the channel too! There are lots of older homes that I have posted but only a few of them are pre 1910. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks very much for your comments!!
This house was beautiful, but I can only imagine how cold and drafty it was in the winter.
I would imagine it could have been rough, especially if the hole in the bricks isn't new! 😆 Thank you very much for your comment!!
ceramic pekingese... What an amazing house..They loved wallpaper.. I'm sure it was amazing while in its prime.. So sad to see it in such shambles... where do the family go once the owners die?..
Sometimes the surviving family just can't mentally handle the task of sorting everything out. Thank you very much for your comment!!
28:13 That little chair could be close to 100 yrs old.
Another great video.
I love these older homes. They got much soul and personality to them.
But how come you don't use a drone for filming the more dangerous places like the basement and the one room with a dangerously rotten floor?
The simple answer to the drone question is that they don't really work indoors. Drones require connections to satellites and in general, they can't see them when inside a building. But if a floor is bad enough that I think I may fall through, I won't step on it, I always err on the side of caution. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Static Spaces thanks for sharing this video with me i really enjoyed it and God Bless.
So glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for your comment!!
Amsterdam levy pull out sacks in Basement - Drive up lawn. Lenore Walters hated pulles and admitted planted orchard - minus master room used bedroom ditch meetings - community etc
Not sure I am following what you are saying but thank you very much for your comment!!
Are you having a stroke?
Thank you for sharing this. I’ve been wanting to see inside this one for a while now. She’s absolutely beautiful!!
No problem, I'm glad I could show you what it looked like. Thanks very much for your comment!!
The is something so sad about this home
These houses where the owners die and leave everything behind are always a little sad. Thank you very much for your comment!!
I love to buy this house it’s beautiful house it nice to be a family home again ❤
Thank you very much for your comment!!
6:45 It seems to me that those paintings on the floor and the picture on the wall 9:51 must have held some significance simply because they are there among the renovations.
Hi James
Hi Helen!!
All That's Left Is But Forgotten....
Very poetic. Thank you very much for your comment!!
That doggo in windows is a shiszoo I can't spell today
Haha, I think it's spelled Shih Tzu, but I had to look it up. 😆 Thank you very much for your comment!!
Outstanding premier video James and I really enjoyed it ❤️Thank you for sharing 👍🥰🙏😎
Glad you enjoyed it Fawn and thanks a lot for your comment!!
You are welcome James 😎

That weird staircase could kick your arse if you weren't careful.
Yes for sure, you wouldn't want to fall down that. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Nice❤
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
I’m so excited to see this video James ❤️
Glad to hear it Fawn!!
You are welcome James 😁
I was unaware that toothpaste had an expiration date. I suppose all of the small tubes of toothpaste that I've accumulated from the dentist and motels over the years are well past their expiration date.
Oh probably, I just went through and used all my toothpaste and floss that had accumulated over the years...feels good to have an empty drawer again! With that said, I'm sure expired toothpaste is fine to use. Thanks very much for your comment!!
4:43 There is only one layer of shingles on that part.
Ya, I think generally they remove the old shingles when redoing a roof but sometimes they leave a layer if there is only one there. I do see what you mean though and those shingles are pretty disintegrated! 😂
It seems to me that throughout the house there are items of interest (whether of value or not) which are set aside; almost hinting at items which can be taken.
Yes, I think they had started to clean the house out but never got around to finishing it...it's something not all that uncommon given the circumstances
❤❤❤
Thanks very much for your comment!!
Awesome 👍🏾❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you are looking forward to it!!
How you find so much history on properties?
It depends on the property, sometimes there is a lot other times not so much. This one didn't have much but I managed to piece a few things together. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Looks like they were packing up...but never moved?
This sometimes happens when a lived one usually the parents die. Sometimes the children get overwhelmed and just can't deal with clearing it out. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Where do those stairs go to behind that fireplace in the upstairs bdrm?
I believe they went to the tower that you can see in the exterior footage, not sure why they blocked them off but it would have been cool to be able to go up there. Thanks very much for your comment!!
The dog is a pekingese
Great, thank you very much for that info!!
My parents had a blue room in their house
Oh cool, they don't seem to be very common but they do look nice. Thanks very much for your comment!!
Please don’t show dead animals…it makes me very sad.
10:08 I was just wondering why you call window shades, window blinds? 23:57 That fake brick wallpaper didn't look bad. I see the washer but not the dryer.
I guess the technical term would be a cordless roller shade...honestly, when you are spending about an hour filming a video without a script, you are bound to make some mistakes. 😆 Thanks very much for your comment!!
@@StaticSpaces I didn't say you made a mistake, I was just wondering why the different name, that's all.
Well at first I thought maybe it was just a different name for the same thing but then I watched the part you linked to and realized I had made a mistake. It's no big deal though and I'm glad you pointed it out. Thanks!
@@StaticSpaces Your welcome, just very glad you weren't annoyed at my comment. I love your explores.
Not at all! And thank you!
