    Bought my LG c3 77" openbox for 2000euros. No regrets, literally nothing wrong with it, imo. Still had the protective film on it, 14day return policy and 2 year warranty. Nothing wrong with open boxes tbh.

    • @MadViking82
      @MadViking82 Před měsícem +1

      From your individual experience, you would extrapolate to say that "in every country in every store that ever sells open box TVs, there's nothing wrong with open boxes tbh" ?

    • @Xofldkdjsl
      @Xofldkdjsl Před měsícem +5

      @@MadViking82 As long as theres return policy and warranty included, hard to say no for the deals. For sure here in Finland its completely safe to buy open boxes and I wish it was the exact same thing everywhere.

    • @MadViking82
      @MadViking82 Před měsícem +1

      @@Xofldkdjsl Sure, I don't disagree, but again you are assuming that a return policy and warranty is included. In many, many places I've visited around the world, they are really not included.
      So why not just stop the extrapolation and assuming, and based on that jumping to the conclusion of "nothing wrong with open boxes!" generalization? What you can say is that in Finland there are laws and retailers that make it a much suitable option for the local consumer.
      I'm not trying to nitpick, and say this with respect. I'm just a bit worried and hoping to save people the trouble of jumping into conclusions and buying an open box without understanding all what comes with it, be disappointed and stuck with the purchase. There's a reason it was asked on this program, and that is because it is not considered a 100% safe choice.
      I guess it should be on the individuals who do not do their homework... At the same time, they do come here for that info as well.

    Great job on explaining Moire' Effect. Overwhelmingly in the studio, men's shirts, sportcoats & ties would require them to change. Our cameras just couldn't deal with it. Women's clothing usually weren't a problem. Now, the Chroma-Key effect was an issue for everyone. The subtleties of blues & greens in a Chroma-Key would always be an issue requiring a wardrobe change. We would always ask talent or guests to come in early for a camera check. It would take only minutes, but save everyone the hassle later.

      I bought an LG 55C7P open box in 2017 for like $400. Insane deal. Still works great. Its old but still quite snappy. Only in the last year has it started to get a weird line down the middle where one side is just barely brighter than the other. Its only noticeable on really bright grey scenes like when a scene includes the sky.

    I bought an open boxed Sony receiver from Amazon, it was supposedly "like new". Well once I saw it for myself I was a bit shocked. It had a huge dent on the top and the knobs were incredibly stiff with scratches on them and also the back was scratched up. To be fair it still worked fine, but it had ton of cosmetic damage and was FAR from Like New.

    Years ago I got the craziest deal on a 65in b8 OLED for 800 bucks when it was new at over 2000. It was missing the remote and the screws to attach the base to the TV. There was a single stuck on pixel that was far enough out of central vision that I almost never noticed it. Only had to buy a 50 dollar replacement remote and a dollar worth of screws at a hardware store.

    My LG B2 77” was listed on the vendor’s website as open box - if so it was meticulously repacked it was hard to tell - and aside from shipping delays that were not the seller’s fault, I was quite happy with the purchase. It took a lot of analysis paralysis to determine that my use case and budget couldn’t justify a top of the line model, and so far it’s been a monumental upgrade from my previous Vizio.

    Hi Caleb, i love the show. My question is how long does samsung support their tv s with software updates. I have a 2020 q70t and it didn't get an update for a while now. I like to watch in film mode with contrast enhancer on medium setting, but after a while, the picture just darkens back, and doesn't change if i cycle through the contrast enhancer settings. After a restart, it works for a while, but it's not a permanent fix. Tried factory reset too and it didn't solve the problem. I'm pretty sure that it's a software bug, but if it doesn't get updates anymore, it's it time to upgrade for a new tv, or is there a way to downgrade or roll back the software on it?

    Hi. First time writing to you. I just bought a Samsung S95C and every youtube reviewer recommends to set movie/filmmaker mode to warm 2 setting, becuse that is color accurate. But when I do that the picture takes up a yellow tint, hue which dosn't look natural at all. I've read others experienced the same thing so I assume it's not a unique problem for me. But what is it then? I mean I've had a Sony from 2018 and the warm setting on it didn't make it this yellow. Should I call for a professional who can set the TV or is this Samsung's own idea of color accurate picture. Thanks for the help and keep up the good work.

    I always thought an 'open box' electrical product was a term retailers used to get around selling an item below the manufacturers lowest selling price. For instance if the retailer was overstocked on on a particular model that wasn't selling or selling fast enough they would advertise as open box to get around it. I work for a manufacturer and we have a strict policy of not allowing our distributors to advertise our products below a certain price because it just devalues the product. All it does is force the price down because other distributors react and it just keeps reducing the margin and making our product less profitable for our distributors to sell. I know some will say you can't tell people what price they sell for and I agree, but you can cut off the future supply to them. Sadly some have the mentality of if we're the cheapest we'll get most of the orders and especially with online orders without realising their competition will react and the price cutting just goes on and on.

If you have a receiver all your devices should be plugged into the receiver (the brain) let it do the auto processing out to the speakers and only one hdmi cable out to the tv for video.

    I bought my Samsung Curved in 2016 and held onto it for dear life because despite what all the wierdo's say it was the most enjoyable TV experience i had. Even guest would comment on that. But i just bought an replaced with the S90C and i havent regretted it but i dearly miss my curved Tv

    No, Moiré is an optical interference pattern forming from fine detail interacting with the physical pixel grid. higher density screens, ie. more physical resolution is the only solution. (or rather its two very fine physical patterns interacting with each other, doesn't have to be digital at all)

    Why are people so obsessed with TVs? I bought my OLED C1 and it's great, no need to ever buy another display again until it fails or some major new technology comes along. I had my HD CRT TV since 2006 until I bought this one, LCDs just weren't as good and neither were the early OLEDs and yeah it was only 720p/1080i, but it doesn't matter when it is 32 inch and you do not see pixels like LCD/OLED. Before that I had the same TV I had since a child in the 80s, that lasted until 2006.... So I really do not get why people act like you have to buy a TV every year. The same with PCs and phones, my 4770K/750ti PC lasted from 2014 until 2023, it still played everything fine at 1080p, it got 30FPS on Cyberpunk. My phone as well is a Google Pixel 5 that I've had 3 to 4 years and it's still fine, no need to buy a new one.

      That doesn't matter at all, you still have a warranty, and a return policy. Take it home, do the Oled Burn-In test, check the screen "on time", if everything looks good, keep it, and you still have two weeks to change your mind...
