Another helpful tip: If you ask Siri "what did they say?" The Apple TV will rewind 10/15 seconds of the stream and trigger subtitles temporarily.
Seriously? I’ll definitely be using that.
Does this work with any streaming service?
@@JaviXCdr works with everything I've tried so far.
That is one of my favorite Siri commands
Your lying?! I just ordered to of them for the first time and they got delivered at my house can’t wait now to get them after work
This is the most talkative I’ve seen Kimi Raikonen. Good to see him finally come out of his shell with something he’s passionate about
Thanks for some good tips. I’ve been a long term user of the Apple TV, back from the original black box with silver, two button remote and I’ve owned at least one of every release since then. I didn’t know about the match content function. Hopefully this will resolve an occasional issue where content displays with very low contrast.
My tip is actually an app pick. I’ve found the Plex Media Server very powerful. I can stream copies of my own media from a always on media PC, wirelessly to every tv in the house. Highly recommended!
Another tip to go along with the voice control you talked about. You can also use the exact same commands hands-free, if you have another nearby Apple device like an iPad or HomePod or Apple Watch. I use this all the time when I want to get up to go to the other room and I just call out to Siri to pause the TV. The HomePod is perfect for this because it's equipped with long range beam-forming microphones; and it works from any HomePod in the house regardless of whether it's paired to the Apple TV for sound output or not. Some of the things you can say is: Hey Siri:
Turn the Apple TV Off (Puts it to sleep)
Pause the TV
Resume playing on the TV
Go back 45 seconds
What did they say?
Skip 5 Minutes
All of that without ever having to touch the remote.
Apple updated the match dynamic range feature with their latest software update, tvOS 16.1. It now works when set in HDR mode too, meaning it will now switch to SDR for SDR programs even when set to HDR as default.
Excellent! So there is no need to switch it to 4K SDR? I can leave it at 4K Dolby Vision and when in CZcams, it'll play the content in SDR?
@@JoelORamos-wz6oe Yes. The only downside is if CZcams video is in 4K and the ads aren’t, you’ll get a pause and blank screen while it switches from 4K to SD, then the same thing again after the ad when it goes back to 4K.
@@SkepticCyclist that what that is! It’s super annoying. Is there a way to avoid that?
@@freespeach99 other than paying for CZcams premium so you don’t get ads? 😆 Don’t know.
@@freespeach99 If Jason King is saying its been fixed to match but it still flickers a black screen on youtube then it is not fully fixed. I would turn off Dynamic Range, that fixed it for me.
Here's a tip to go along with what you were talking about with the Match Dynamic Range. So having it match the dynamic range and frame rate, as you showed are important. But you can add to it by going into the main TV resolution settings and changing the Apple TV to SDR. Even though you change it to SDR, because of the Match Dynamic Range setting, when playing something in HDR it will switch back. The benefit to this is to ensure that SDR is ALWAYS shown as SDR and that it never tries to tone-map the SDR to HDR. But even assuming the Match Dynamic Range setting truly does always keep the content in SDR when it's non-HDR, there's one place where it will NEVER change it: the Home Screen.
The Home Screen will always try to show in HDR if HDR is selected. This has the result of making the Home Screen look a little washed out; not as bright or well defined. This may not be a big deal on TVs where the screen is extremely bright (like a QLED) - but it's really bad on a lower cost TV. Many TVs under $1,000 have panels that are not capable of truly reaching the minimum brightness needed for HDR (regardless of whether they show the HDR logo on the box and the input allows it). And so for TVs that can't go past 500 Nits of brightness, trying to browse through the Apple TV Home Screen in HDR mode can be very eye straining as it's so dim and washed out. But by changing the resolution setting to SDR, and then enabling Match Dynamic Range, the home screen will have full 4:4:4 color and look much brighter and easier to see.
this is huge if it works as described. I have an OLED but with the ATV4K set to Dolby Vision output the main menu and buit-in apps (Apple Music) are always at 100% brightness. Not great for nighttime viewing. Thanks for the tip.
how do you open the main tv settings? i have a samsung tu700
@@jlyon7065 This is in your Apple TV, not on your Samsung TV
I have the previous version, and it's still pretty good. Faster than the TV's own processor and the HDR mode looks good to me. I do wish there was more included to watch, but I will say what I've watched has been good
One feature that goes along video calibration is the sound sync calibration. That is a feature you should use as well
Damn thank you for posting this suggestion to sync the audio through the Apple TV. It was driving me nuts trying to get it right through my Sonos sound at setting
Damn thank you for posting this suggestion to sync the audio through the Apple TV. It was driving me nuts trying to get it right through my Sonos sound at setting
@@SmiteIke Me too. You can set delay on the TV and the soundbar, but very hard to get it "right". This just fixes it and it does not drive me nuts to have it slightly out of sync.
@Mics74 How do you do this? I've Googled it and can't find an answer. Thanks.
@@ghanson1717 Did you find out?
The eArc feature that allows users to AirPlay audio from games consoles to HomePods via Apple TV is never talked about! Such a good feature if, like me, you use stereo HomePods as your primary TV speakers.
This is a fantastic video. I never found a video going through all these Apple TV settings. Question: Once you go through and set everything the way you want it, is there a way to backup to iCloud with the Apple TV so if you get a new Apple TV you don’t have to go through the settings all over again?
How to disable airplay msg on screensaver, thanks
After watching I have been a fan..started watching looking find the best tv for…still saving for one as I am on a tight budget
Question question, background app refresh on or off?
Love love love this video- Wanted to mention a super-duper little tip for your next audio specialty video. Many of us who can't or dont want to add soundbars to our TVs Systems can use the Apple TV to do something amazing with our Sonos speakers( that even the Sonos folks don"t seem to know!!). With your I pad or Iphone through the audio / video tab in the settings screen of your Apple TV play the TV through our sonos systems as each amplifire will appear as a wifi option. Additionally these options can be placed into the home app on your IOS device and the volumes etc for each amp/location can be controlled by your IOS device!!! Its an awesome benefit that not many seems to know about!!! Happy holidays!!!
Update:
I was able to add all my sonos groups of devices through apple Home app and without having an apple TV device
@@Q8Webmaster I will have to try that- Thanks a million
very helpful! the hdr part especially so. when u put everything in HDR it looks odd and watching youtube is annoying cuz it constantly has to switch to SDR. making SDR default and then matching content much smoother
Great to hear!
It shouldn't do this with tvOS 16.1. They updated it so match content dynamic range also works in HDR (or at least it does for HDR Dolby Vision, don't know about HDR 10+). It should show now SDR content in SDR even if set to HDR
@@SkepticCyclist yes it does but the tv will still go blank for a second whenever you go in and out of youtube videos
Hi Caleb - thanks for another gear video. I standardized on using Apple TV as my streamer across all my TVs. But I always struggle with bypassing or turning off smart TV features.
My goal is to only turn on (or automatically wake up) my TV and never see any smart TV or TV OS interface. I am interested in your recommendation what TVs have the cleanest way to bypass their TV OS interface and go straight to Apple TV or AVR content.
I appreciate your opinion and recommendations - cheers!
Extremely helpful information and thank you! Perhaps the most important (to me) is to match content and frame rate. The only thing that I wish is that the Apple 4K TV would have a good AI upscaler like my Nvidia Shield Pro.
What would be really sweet is if Apple could fix the caching issue so icons will actually show up and content refreshed (hint ESPN+) instead displayed as X's and failing to mention some match or game is streaming live. 😡
You can submit errors directly to Apple by using Feedback Assistant. Just hit Command + Space and type Feedback assistant and you ought to see a purple/white icon, and start crafting your own error feedback to Apple ;)
@@larsandersen9134 .. I must have overlooked mentioning it also happens on CZcams. Can't imagine it not being reported already. However, it's been going on for some time now. Otherwise this is the only social media that I use, but thanks 👍
That might be coming, as their metal api scaler rivals even dlss
I love being able to use mac whether that be iMac or MacBook and whatever TV you have the Apple TV connected to as a second screen without having two add an HDMI cable it's freaking awesome.
I should second some of the comments made here. Caleb is one of the best communicators I seen having watched a lot of reviews to help inform the purchase of a G2, AppleTV and an Arc. Keep up the good work.
Wow! Thanks!
Remotes are also flexible with the AppleTV. You can use most universal, tv, or receiver remotes to steer the AppleTV… but you can also teach the Siri remote to control volume on your tv or receiver.
I recently bought Airpods 3rd Gen. I used to have a home theater system with multiple speakers, in terms of audio that was better than actually being in the best seat in a theater or at the Super Bowl for example. The newer Airpods are better than that particularly because each person has their own personal home theater system, with the exception that with a home theater system you can actually feel the difference, like it's live versus a recording.
I'm currently sitting at home waiting for delivery of my 2022 Apple TV unit as a Christmas present, and educating myself so that when my wife gets home I'll have it all set up. But now watching this I'm thinking maybe it's better if I just connect it and let her set up her own thing because we have a unique situation.
I'm American, native English speaker; my wife is Japanese, native Japanese speaker. Both of us use iPhone and iPad. Until now we've been using an old Playstation, though mostly her. If only one can log in with global settings where it's that one person's language and such, I rather it be her. But ideally I want all our stuff separated by login by language, country, content, and so forth.
You can add multiple users. Simply press and hold the TV button to add new users and switch in between them seamlessly. I’m not sure if you can set different languages for each user but it’s worth a try ;)
@@carstenehlers1864 : Thanks!
Hopefully useful to others: I use a VPN on my personal devices while I'm in Japan so I can get my streaming content, and all other location targeted stuff wherever I may be, BUT the Apple TV thingamajig not only is a shared device BUT it also can't have a VPN, BUT I can do mirroring. So if I want to see my personal content on the larger screen through the Apple TV, I just login to it as myself and mirror that content from the iPad.
Thanks, the information you provided is helpful.
I have a question and maybe you can help?
The Apple TV has beautiful screen savers and I was wondering is there a way to see those screen savers when listening to apple Music as opposed to the screen of album cover/song title/lyrics?
I think one of my favorite things I’ve been doing for a while is using my phone as a remote. It’s usually nearby (I tend to lose the remote) and the integration with the keyboard is nice. Plus I have the older Apple TV remote which frankly isn’t great - so the phone remote tends to be just as good.
I’ve always felt the Apple TV is one of apples under the radar products. For a reasonable price, it gives you an excellent smart tv interface that is better than any integrated smart tv os I’ve seen(although lgs webOS is pretty good too).
Have you tried using remotes that you already own to control the Apple TV? I found that to work well.
@@golfgrouch Yeah sometimes I use my tv remote. Honestly, it’s really what is closest haha
This was a perfectly timed videos. No reviews go through actual features n abilities. I just got my first apple tv in 8 years n this was a big help
Learn remote (Settings > Remotes and Devices > Learn Remote) is the best feature that wasn't mentioned in this video because it gives you dedicated remote skip buttons (specifically through "Set Up Playback Buttons") that are not available on the Siri remote. I used it to have the Apple TV learn my old cable set top box remote. It works so well that the set top box remote has replaced the Siri Remote as my primary remote because one-button skip is so important for CZcams TV.
That is a great feature. Thank you.
It would be nice if the Siri Remote had a couple of extra buttons to program. I have the volume buttons directly control my sound bar, but I had to sacrifice the mute button to learn the change input remote function.
Currently my Siri remote turns on my AppleTV as well as my Marantz AV receiver by HDMI. Can this learning be used so it also acts as the On/Off button for my LG TV by IR when I start or shut down the Apple TV?
@@madmalkav6540 I don’t think the on off button is programmable, one of the limitations of the system. However my Apple TV remote switches on and off my Sony TV, as well as my Samsung sound bar and the Apple TV itself. I’m connected into the ARC HDMI on the TV, maybe try connecting your HDMI from the amp for ARC on the TV and see if this helps at all. If not then have a read of the Marantz manual, as I’m guessing it’s not passing on the power signal to the TV. Good luck.
@@madmalkav6540 I have my Apple TV connected to an LG OLED and the HDMI-CEC works to power the TV on by pressing the home button on a learned remote. Putting the Apple TV to sleep turns the TV off.
Thank you for such a good review Caleb. Your review convinced me to buy Apple TV 4K & its the best tech purchase I've bought in a long time. It's an absolutely fantastic piece of kit. Great platform. Thank you, great work Caleb!
So far I impressed with the Apple TV liking the HDR10+ not sure how much is down to the Apple TV or the new update on my Samsung QN95B
what a fantastic video, thank you. I never understood the significance of apps in the front row of the Apple TV app before - I thought I was being smart by arranging all my streaming apps in a folder. Then, with a recent update, the Up Next feature was useless ... until I relocated my apps to the top row as you recommended. Exactly what I was after.
Hi , Will I be able to play videos from other USB storage or Hard disks connected to my normal TV ?
Thanks for your continuous good Videos, Caleb - Keep up the good work.. I do have a question; have you ever tried Apple TV with Denon receiver ? The sound is very low thru the Denon, whereas if it is connected to TV directly (other HDMI port) and choose Denon with TV as audio source (ARC) it sounds better ; I have tried every setting possible in Apple TV (audio format change. audio bit rate) and Denon (source level) and even replacing with New HDMI (2.1) ; it is still the same. Please suggest - if you have better way of connecting Apple TV with Denon
hey Caleb, great vid as always, as a google tv user, do you find google tv interesting enough to make a similar video for it? I'm wondering if there's some untapped potential to the platform users might not know about
Can the Apple TV's calibration function work with a projector?
I highly recommend making Apple TV picture settings at 4K SDR and choose match content so the HDR doesn't affect the screen life span by maxing brightness
But but
HDR 🥲.
Hi, I think it would be a great idea if you can revisit TVs that have had notable bugs in their software every 6 months or so to let the viewers know whether the the latest firmware has resolved those issues. Given that many new TVs have software issues when they are initially released and when you review them, your viewers can often go into a TV purchase somewhat blind. I’m sure it would be very valuable for many of us and be a popular series for your channel.
I’ve been using match frame rate with Amazon prime and i always have issues. Specifically, audio video sync problems. Match dynamic range is great though. Only problem here is when the tv switches video profiles between hdr and non-hdr content.
I turned on Chroma 4:2:2. Not mentioned in your tips, but forgot about that when upgraded to the new ATV.
Thank you‼️I’ve just upgraded from Gen3 to Gen4 4K and I was shocked by the sensitivity of the home button. I’ll be changing it to the ‘click only’ setting for the mo ✌️🌻
There’s only gen 1 and gen 2 Apple TV 4k. Maybe you’re referring to the non 4K version?
You can also stream from a NAS. As a weird caveat, I’ve found you cannot stream Apple content downloaded and saved, it only seems to work with the universal formats like .mp4. To play Apple content, it must be streamed through a phone or laptop then airplayed back to the AppleTV. I’ve been led to understand this has to do with DRM (not claiming it’s true, just what I keep hearing). The online community has some “fixes” for this but I’ve found most of them problematic and/or unusable.
Helpful tips, thanks Caleb! Question: how long before non-Apple shows will appear in Up Next? My stripe is only showing AppleTV+ series and not including anything from Prime or Hulu or Netflix. Do you have to enable those other apps to be included somehow? Thanks!
With the audio set up. I have to toggle between atmos and digital 5.1. If playing content that doesn't have atmos qith auto, atmos turned on, my system plays it in multichannel pcm 5.1. When I change format to 5.1 manually it plays in digital 5.1 and sounds much better.
Is that how it's meant to work? Or am I doing something wrong?
Hi, awesome video and definitely changed my mind to get me a Apple TV 4K unit. Will definitely play around with all the settings you provided.
Thank you for that it was an extremely helpful video.
I’m struggling to use the fitness app exercises. It keeps saying not syncing with my watch. Any advice will be very helpful.
Hi! - I will be perusing some of these features tomorrow... hopefully your monitoring comments. Would you go for an LG G2 or C2? I'm just about to watch the C2 review. But thought might be easier to ask.
Hi, I am new here. I would Like to know few things before buying Apple TV.
Does apple TV have influence to process the picture quality Like e.g. Alpha gen chip on LG tv?
Is picture quality noticable different?
Can Apple TV improve/solve black crash on OLEDs?
Last question is about 120Hz, is there any improve in motion while watching movies? What about judder and stutter?
I know it is a lot to answer but please 😊
Excellent information, having just bought the new version with ethernet i now know how to get more out of it.
My only frustration is the requirement to use an ipad or iphone for some of the featutres.
I don't own either, and have no desire to buy into Apples system of making older phones obsolete.
A stunning box that blows Amazons new cube out of the water.
Don’t forget in your next video to talk about using a paired HomePod as a sound output. I think it’s the best home theater audio setup for the money.
My OG HomePods sound amazing.
Do they output all audio channels or can you designate them to be left right or rear speakers? Like for surroundsound.
@@cooter3690 They are ONLY front Left and Right. Computational/Spatial audio is generated by the two front speakers. You get ATMOS from some streaming services. No rear speakers are needed.
Do you leave HDR turned on if you turn on the settings for dynamic range and match frame rate?
I have 2 stereo pairs of OG Homepods (4 speaker) I use when watching content on Apple TV 4k and it's fantastic! However, I'm trying to find out of there is a way to use 4 homepods (2 stereo pairs) when using alternate inputs on my television? For example, when using my PS5/XSX or DVR? Currently I'm only able to use 2 homepods (1 stereo pair) when using any input other than my Apple TV 4k.
I've googled this on an off for about 3-4 months and no luck confirming it is or is not possible.
Thanks for the tips. I like to press and hold the microphone button and speak to the remote control for searches instead of typing (I'm a bit lazy LOL)
Definitely the best compilation of Apple TV tips I have ever seen. Thanks a lot.
I found that turning on Match Content features, the audio to my airpods max was heavily de-synced. No issues when turning it off however. Its a bummer because turning HDR on/off manually is quite a headache -.-
Very helpful tips! Thank you as I considering getting one primarily to do multiple screens with FuboTV. Concerning the new Apple 4K remote...I appears to be touch sensitive like a track-pad. I also saw where you can rotate around the bezel for volume-up/down, etc. But does have the standard directional clicks for up, down, left and right like most other remotes. Or do you have swipe to get that same effect?
Yes Don, there’s an outer ring to the touch portion of the remote. That can be clicked in the cardinal directions to move the cursor, etc.
@@neilmarshall4235 Thank you!
I have a Samsung QN90A and 3rd gen Apple TV. While watching this video I realized I don’t have the same audio and video menu as him, and I don’t have the option for HDR10+.
How do I enable HDR 10+???
Any help would be appreciated
is it the same as the audio and video quality on the apple tv box and the apple tv application on a smart tv ?
Upgraded to new 4k version 3 and significant video quality increase on all apps from gen 2 on my Samsung QN90B, although sad that gen 2 I had was only 3 months old but it been worth it 😂
I love being able to set my two HomePod Minis as the audio default AND being able to adjust their volume with the remote’s volume buttons.
Just wish I could get the color balance calibration to work. Always hangs up on step 1.
I stopped using Apple TV years ago because of the remote, this video made me buy another one, Thank You 🙏
Let’s say you have a Xfinity box in the same room as your Apple TV. Could you connect it to the Xfinity and that connects to the TV through HDMI will the Apple TV still work like it would persay like it would on Xbox? Or will it go right to Xfinity
Great video. Is there anyway of having Apple TV set up so that you can continue watching an episode or a movie from where you left off?
Hi thanks for all the great Videos, but I have a question. I just bought the Hisense U7H 55 inch so should I use its apps and connect it to the internet or should I use my brand new Apple TV 4K ? Also I have the TCL Alto 8+ sound bar which sounds great but it has to be told what I put to use ( it doesn’t find it automatically) I am a subscriber to your channel and love all the stuff that you do and I appreciate your help with these questions. Awesome video. Love how you explained everything as a “helper” instead of a “cocky pro”. Felt super informative and im an apple nerd.
Great informative video as always. Loving my Apple TVs. There are a lot of great tips for HomeKit users as well.
Thanks for watching!
My absolute favorite things about the ATV4K are the spatial audio with AirPods, being able to use my phone keyboard (can’t stand typing with the remote) and the navigation speed jumping between apps. Honorable mention to the gig Ethernet port
No need to type anything. Just hold down the button on the right side of the remote and speak
I now have 3 AppleTV and I needed your video to take advantage of them. Thanks 🎉
I really love, that I can also use the Siri remote to control the loudness of my soundbar via IR.
I currently have it set to 4k Dolby Vision Match Off and frame rate Off. Looks great on the Sony A80L 77inch
Maybe you can answer this. If I am watching CZcamsTV and just power off TV and Apple TV with long press power then when I power on TV later I just get black screen. I then have to return to home screen and start another app and return to CZcamsTV to get it working again. If however if I return to home screen and power off everything is fine to return to CZcamsTV when I power on later. Is it Apple TV problem or app problem?
This is a great video. Thanks a lot. I don’t know it is mentioned earlier in the bottom of the feedbacks or is it only my problem. I bought all models from the 160 MB to this last one. Most welcoming spec was the bluetooh inclusion for me. Because I hate typing with the remote. So when I buy a model first thing I do the bluetooth pairing with a keyboard then do the all other settings. For this last one, I did the same. Then I went using keyboard for search purposes. But a bad surprise happened with CZcams. I cannot type into the search section with bluetooth keyboard. Which is the most important place to use the keyboard for me. Hope it will be fixed. Or am I missing something?
I tried to do the video calibration where you hold your phone up to the screen. It kept failing, stating that it wouldn’t work or there was a reflection or something like that, but my phone was right up against the screen. I tried it further away too. My video looks really good so I’m not terribly concerned but I am curious why it failed.
Edit
I have an iPhone 12 with the latest iOS version
Hi, I have an LG E7 tv that is having Dolby Vision and Atmos. When streaming Netflix, Disney and others from the tv, it gives me access to Dolby Atmos.
When using the AppleTV 4K 3rd Gen, nothing can be streamed in Dolby Atmos, only 5.1, and I can see that it os activated in my AppleTV setup.
Streaming something out of the AppleTV app like Ted Lasso, I do have access to Dolby Vision.
Any clue of how to resolve this issue?
Thks I’m advance and keep up the good work, I love your channel.
I would like to know if Apple TV supports Dolby Atmos. I have a speaker system with Dolby Atmos. I am wondering how I connect them. Should I connect apple tv to speaker then speaker to tv ?
Not sure if this is well known or not but as Caleb mentioned you can switch between apps by double pressing the TV button. But you can also close apps by swiping up on the click pad (if click and touch is on) or by quickly double pressing the top button (if Clickpad is set to click only).
This can be helpful if you would like to restart an app (similar to closing out apps on an iPhone) or possibly to help with performance of the Apple TV (I’m guessing) if you have a lot of apps that were open but don’t need them all open anymore.
turn OFF match frame rate to see decent 24 fps on some TVs (still 3:2 pulldown) to avoid your tv’s motion interpolation
sorry this is off topic but where can i get the shelf units behind you, i have been looking but they all look like they should be in a garage or warehouse but the ones shown here look more domestic and easyer on the eye.
thanks.
i bought the last generation apple tv 4k i thought it was so sweet but after a while its just a pain to use and the older remote sucks i got a roku ultra now and its so easy to use i dont need to customize a bunch of stuff i can just access the apps and watch shows .
Can you help with volume? Can I set the system to be at a certain volume?
You mention doing a longer form video on video settings. Can you post a link to that video as I can’t find it.
you're the best tech reviewer, specifically anything television related. i learn a ton from your videos. you're excellent at explaining process and design/function details. i learned new things watching this to better use my apple tv. thank you for being awesome at what you do!
Wow, thanks!
Do apple tv nake any difference in pictures quality mostly in frame rate??
👍Home Kit integrations are pretty cool, appletv as hub, see camera movements notifications, doorbell, etc
Great Video! I think Apple has hidden somehow whether this 3d gen supports 4k 120hz. I can't find anything pointing this out. Does anyone know if it does support 4k 120hz. TIA good people. 🖖🖖🖖
4k 60hz is the max but is has
4k Dolby Vision, 4k HDR and 4k sdr all at 60hz and separate. I use the 4k Dolby Vision 60hz and it’s fantastic looking.
Great video. Informative, helpful, and useful. More like this!
I have been watching quite a few of your videos, and your videos are always high quality and informative. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
One important note with matching content/ frame rate… it does slow down switching n creates a black frame in between even with the newest TVs… especially annoying with short form videos like CZcams… so you get a blank screen n running audio over n over. Had to disable as my wife really did not like that n even myself felt it was too slow. Ill reserve it for more epic action if anything.
Thank CZcams for it. They are the ones responsible for it. Or get CZcams premium with no ads
How do I connect my apple TV to my TV and soundbar? How does the setup work as the TV has only 1 EARC port and so does the apply TV.
A thing to note is that people having the "stutter" issue need to check the option of "match frame rate". I is a common issue for 100/120hz tv's
I was hoping to know how to restart my apple tv just using the remote button in the video. I’ve seen it done somewhere but couldn’t seem to find it now.
Will the "up next" feature work with other apps such as hulu or netflix or apple tv app only?
What about using HomePods as speakers and the ability to treat your Apple TV as a receiver with Audio Return Channel eARC from your tv to your HomePods? 😜 not many people know about the extra bit.
I have AppleTV already loaded on my Samsung...what is a good reason to use the physical unit over the app loaded on my TV?
So which HDMI can I plug this in? Should I plug this in HDMI 4 since its 4K!?
I enjoy your CZcamss a lot even if it’s hard for me to keep up. I was wondering if you have ever done a CZcams that is centered around Sonos. I have the original Sonos. I have the original sound bar, the Sonos base and two rear speakers. Is there anything I can do with my Sonos and my Apple TV 4K to maximize the quality of my sound?
Thank you for all of this great input some I didn’t know and some I already knew.
You are so welcome!
I'd be interested in seeing tv app performance to see which tv has the best in-tv app performance when streaming and best Ethernet performance.
newbie question. Setup is as follows: Ive a Sony a80K with Apple TV connected to HDMI 2 and my soundbar connected the eARC port which is one of only two ports that support Dolby. HDMI 4 port can also be set to Dolby vision. However, my PS5 is connected to HDMI 4 because it is the only port that supports VRR. My question is, are there limitations to Dolby on the Apple TV setting if the HDMI can only be set to "enhanced" and not to Dolby? I hope that makes sense. Almost confused myself haha!
very helpful video. I've had Apple TV for years and didnt know about some of these features.
Should I get this to replace Vizio smart cast? I have pretty much the whole apple ecosystem minus the apple tv
Caleb, do you know if the Bluetooth audio settings you mention that are available with air pods or AirPods Max for Dolby Atmos simulation for example would be available in other headphone brands like the Sony WH1000MX4?
Hey Brendan, Caleb here. It may be possible, but I haven't tested it. You can get Spatial Audio from Apple Music on the XM4 using an iPhone by going to Settings>Music>Dolby Atmos>Always on. You can choose a similar setting in TVOS, but I haven't tested it with various apps to see if Spatial Audio works that way with a third-party headphones like the XM4 or XM5. I will test it and do what I can to come back to comment.
One tip
You can put any app in ur too corner it will show up next for those
Like i hv tried with netflix
It shows continue watching
Can I add an Xbox hdmi input to the Apple box so that I can play games in spatial audio?
