Very smart of Ghana to invite people back with free land. Many people in the USA are looking for an escape. Thank you for sharing her story
Or you can look videos about people that used to be poor but now they are millionaires working 2 days a week why do you want a big house and money that’s not going to make you happy
Rich people with mansions are depressed than poor people
Good for them.
But do not bring their baggage with them. Take it as a fresh start.

I was born in America but my parents are both Nigerian and one of the most amazing things that I love about this video is that she came to Ghana humble but also able to accept to work with Ghanaians to help build homes for others and share her western experience with them. Just because a lot of parts of Ghana or many African communities are poor it doesn't mean they have to stay that way. I am so happy to hear about these smooth paved roads, electricity and solar energy. It is desperately needed. It warms my soul to see Africans and Black Americans working together because that means to me that Africa is less likely to be exploited the way they have been in the past. This is so powerful and I think keeping prices low for Black Americans to make that transition slowly is key. Thank you for this. ❤
There is great power (positive energy and potential) in this.

There is something that has been left out. Ghana does not allow the outright purchase of land. One can lease the land up to 50 years , 99 if you become a citizen. That’s important to look into especially if it’s something you want to have and keep for future generations. When I went to read about the land laws first it said yes we can purchase land but before I could finish reading the sentence it said Ghana doesn’t allow the outright purchase. Smh. Also check to see if there have been any seizures of property due to eminent domain laws. I didn’t bother looking that up since I figured we’d only be paying ground rent . My husband and I will not be taking that leap after all. I hope this info helps. Wishing you the best.😊
I came across this interview by chance this morning, and it make my day. It is my good cup of tea. I learn a lot of lesson from the interview. This is GREAT, I cried sometimes so emotional. Too many good things to say
The cost of the House is now in 2023 $ 100,000 which beats the cost of a " nice house in Agusta, Georgia @ $ 230,000. But, living in Ghana has it's setbacks, since it still is a developing country. But getting in on the ground floor now seems to be an opportunity!
Beautiful. I'm currently building my first investment property now in Ghana. I'll be back in November.
That's awesome
How did you buy the land? Who was your builder
My move from my island was when I was 23 years old, and I hated it for many years. I would like to return to my country from Canada, but it would be a very expensive venture. Places in Africa seem to be much cheaper, but I can't handle a major cultural change at this time of my life. I applaud her for her success in doing this. My DNA showed that I am from seven West African countries. Only the Almighty can lead me now.
What island are you from
It might be easier since you from islands
This is such a beautiful interview!! I really like Karen's transparency about her experience.
I love this video. We are currently in Ghana now ❤️💛💚
Such a beautiful woman. It’s amazing to see fearlessness, and not being afraid of change at any age.
This was AMAZING! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 her humbleness😊 takes me back to the “REAL!” Auntie💛
This is a wonderful lady, I love her bravery, courage and positive energy she exuded. This was a wonderful interview. Thanks for sharing. It’s always nice to see good adaptations to new environments. Blessings to you and your family Karen.
Karen looks gorgeous for 70 years old. She is so beautiful i wish i could introduce her to my uncle who is a professor of Literatures. He is in great shape for a 72yrs old man and he is single.
I love this woman’s free spirit. She seems to be very grounded and relaxed. Too bad she doesn’t have enough plants in the space. I’m suggesting that she adds garden beds and boxes made of concrete to in the yard be able to grow flowers and other greenery. It’ll help with cooling during the hot weather ❤
Plants are no problem. This is very nice...
Yes, I agree about the plants. I love the house, but the color is missing from the scenery. Perhaps she'll get to it later down the line.
I love this!! Thank you for sharing with us, Ms. Karen!
Amazingly done. 👏🏿 Karen is gracious and genuine. I've been thinking about visiting for years. Your interview really gives me an idea. Great interview from start to finish.
You made the best choice leaving Babylon altogether you're safer now ❤️❤️❤️🇯🇲
I couldn't agree more! 👊🏾
Yea that's why she built gated 14ft perimeter walls around her whole property, because Ghana's safer😂 grow up
@@user-op4nz2gp3i2a2awit is Ghana culture to gate and secure your land. It is a part of the land purchase process where you are required to secure your property
I agree! I’ve been to Africa twice(my husband lives there) and I loved it! We are planning on building in Africa in the next 5 years.
and have to pay the police for passage. @@user-op4nz2gp3i2a2aw
I love this. Am Ethiopian and i always want to go back and live there but because of the civil war and other stuff am still living in the States. I can't wait for things to change and call Ethiopia home ❤
Africa is for all black people so never hesitate to move else where in the motherland 💪🏾
you can always feel free to move to Kenya. it's peaceful, diverse, modern, closer to Ethiopia and above all Ethiopians are like brothers and sisters to us Kenyans 😁😁
Not all of Ethiopia has war.

It can be fixed, but they need voltage regulator to convert the 110 voltage to 240. All electronics from USA need voltage regulator
I visited Ghana 🇬🇭 this year and it’s very humbling and just a beautiful experience. 🇬🇭 🇯🇲
Love this video. Ms. King is an amazing woman and such an inspiration in so many ways!
Wow. Everything is so beautiful!! I am sure she is truly enjoying her retirement!! Way to go.
I truly love when she was sitting down and telling the other young lady her inner city experiences in the market.
I am born and raised Washington DC like her and grew up like her as well. I look to transition like her as well. Congrats!
Did you know Jerusalem is older than Africa no one calls white Americans-> white Europeans
Thank you for expressing exactly how we feel coming from the West.
Great interview. Ms Karen you are an amazing woman. The house is beautiful and when you did a shout out to your Grands beck in America, I teared up 🥺 Enjoy your life to the full Ms Karen. Peace and Blessings to you.
I have been seriously thinking about moving to Africa 🌍...I love the Cultures and I need a change...I'm so happy I ran into this Video, I will watch more but Ghana 🇬🇭 is beautiful...I meet a Doctor from Ghana and he enlightened me so much on the different places of Africa because I thought the whole Africa was the Motherland but it's Ghana that's the Motherland and where I've always wanted to visit was were the slaves were housed before they got on the boats....I'm getting excited about this move now since I've seen this lady home 🏡 and the prices...Thank you so much for this beautiful Video ❤️👌✝️
Do your research it's not for everyone. I've see videos of Haiti residents railroad by Ghana purchasing land.
@@lovergirljbjsay it's not for only you, don't compare yourself to everyone, and don't discourage some peoples they didn't think bad as you, leave Ghana alone o.k., evils
Africa is the motherland.I am Ghanaian.
We ain't competing amongst ourselves. These borders are artificial.Ghana only came into being on 6th March 1957.
It's one Africa,one people!

Beautiful story of your leaving your family members behind and taking the Leap of Faith to leave the U.S.A. to go home to Africa The more I watch videos like this the more I'm inspired to come to Africa I just have a different country in mind May God Bless you & keep you and enjoy your new home just beautiful
She is very humble yet confident. A strong courageous black woman indeed. My props to her for actually developing a plan to move to Africa and following through with it. 70 yrs young people and she did it. I SALUTE YOU.
Have you ever seen someone on a platform and immediately knew you would meet, build a friendship and collaborate over life. This is definitely my feeling about you Karen. Can't wait to meet you
