Hiya james
Hey James, can you make a Kill Count review of Netflix's Circle from 2015?
Do armdammd 1988 iced 1988 x ray 1982 and night game 1989
Is squid game getting a kill count
Hii
If you look carefully at the start, you can see that when she leaves, her brother is in the same position that she finds him in during the end - meaning she didn't even have to go in the first place if she checked on him as he already had died.
Twisting the knife even more. Horrific.
Now that's attention to detail. Also completely Horrible.
God damn, I thought Midsommar's beginning was depressing, but this takes it to a whole new level
There's a silver lining here though, she gets to keep all of the money for herself
@@ctakitimu is the money even worth it if you have no one? no brother? no parents? trauma? and the overbearing guilt of ending an innocent man’s life?
@@ctakitimu yeah, but the reason she went through all that is gone. She killed Lucas for nothing. Now she doesn’t even have a way to justify herself.
That last kill was cold as all hell. After everything she went through, and the guy cutting his eye, she just shoots him outright during his emotional speech. Almost makes the last death even more tragic to see.
This wouldn't be the 1st time I've seen the game of "would you rather" turned deadly if you remember an episode of regular show where Mordecai, Rigby, Eileen, and C.J played that game in which "would you rather's" question for Mordecai resulted in him and Rigby getting trapped in a port-o-potty set to be taken to a nuclear testing site where port-o-potties are being blown up by a government laser
I'm gonna say it: I would've done the same.
No way I'm going through all this fucking crap just for two of us leaving without any money. If that was the price, I could've stayed at home in the first place and not even be severly injured, so yeah. I'm gonna shoot the other person and go home with the dough, sorry.
@@damianprock1650 Yeah that episode is actually what this movie is based on.
Realegh
I think that's actually why she killed him at that moment though. She had probably already resigned herself to do it and hearing his own tragic story would have just made it even harder on her after she pulled the trigger.
That ending ALWAYS shocked me. When I saw Raleigh lying in bed like that, I thought he died succumbing to his illness. When they reveal he's dead but show empty pill bottles next to him, my jaw dropped realizing he took his own life. This was a tragic and shocking ending but give major props to the cast & crew for the film.
10:43 we talked about this in our Holocaust Studies class junior year. My teacher called it a "choiceless choice". The idea is that if both options end in death, it's not /really/ a choice. In a lot of these peoples' cases, it's either go to a sketchy dinner and worst case scenario be kidnapped best case scenario have all your financial problems solved OR go into poverty and spend the rest of your life fighting for not only your survival but the survival of your loved ones. It's a choiceless choice, and as we noticed in class, 9 times out of 10 people won't go down without a fight. self preservation and all that
Would You Rather and The Mist fighting over the most soul-crushingly depressing ending ever
That's one of the reasons why I could only watch it once - so many things could have been avoided and prevented, and you ended up feeling horrible for every single character in this movie, except for the host of course.
I think the mist takes it me and my mom watched the movie when I was younger and I cried so much. And refused to watch it for a bit
Rabidly clawing tooth and nail for it
I hated the mists ending
Duel of the fates start playing
I like this movie because of all the devastating turns it has. Cal dying when everyone fights back, Barden ALMOST succeeding to rescue Iris, Iris shooting Lucas before even letting him talk, and don't forget Iris' brother at the end. It really separates itself from what movies usually do (a happy ending, a successful rescue). It reminds you that the good guys don't always win.
i wanna like this post but the like number is 420 and i cant break that... so me like verbally
Except no where in this film did Barden have any role let alone come close to saving anything.
@@hayden8414 you can like now, the 420 was broken
Even just Barden dying so fast and sudden, knowing he endured all this in the past
@@bunnytailss I don't need to be reminded of reality
This horror movie definitely feels more real than whatever ghost movie recently came out. The old rich villain is genuinely evil, and the worst part is he would probably face no punishment because he would likely just bribe his way out of the slammer
My main grip with modern day horror movies is how the general viewer mostly only knows about ghost or supernatural movies thanks to the Nun and other movies as well. There can be other sub genre horror movies but marketing prefers to advertise those ones instead of the others and it grinds my gears
@@abrahammesrajecorrea2349Agreed. Those movies also push a huge religious backing too. Specifically the Conjuring series. It’s so obvious that they’re trying to turn the masses into Christians, it’s painful. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good scare, but I roll my eyes whenever the Warren’s show up and make the magic boogeyman go away with…… words.
Then, the movies that do talk about politics and capitalism being shit, they are always written and directed by lib rich capitalists. Their movies always come off so phony and cringe.
@@antisocialal4799the exorcism stuff is so cheesy in any movie

I just realized how painfully ironic Amy's death was, at the end of the video. Her daughter drowned to death because her husband did it. And she suffered the same fate because someone else forced her.
This was so sad cause Lucas really wanted to escape you can see he regretted everything near the end then when he realized she was gonna shoot he looked so sad and tried to talk about it- that’s honestly the saddest movie death I’ve seen
Agreed. He was a terrific guy all along
Then they ruined it with the silly level poopie ending where the brother dies.
@TheWaffleStudio Wish it was sad, unfortunately comedy not tragedy. It would have been sad if the brother was alive, then she offed herself out of guilt one day and he was left alone. Unfortunately we got to see a nobody in the film do it.
@@CatGamer-wc2ij well, I can’t say if it was a bad movie due to how much it seems to have stuck in your head and how you really feel the need to explain the ending, bad movies tend to be a ‘watch and forget’ kind of deal, with maybe a few jokes.
Also, I feel that the foreshadowing of the ending was pretty obvious, at least from what I’ve seen, and that the tragic ending is the house winning, her brother being dead just proves the suspicions that she was doing it for nothing.
TL;DR I feel like the ending was Dramatic Irony
@@Serrifin oh it didn’t stick at all. This kill Count reminded me lol. James’ stuck in my head ♥️. But all lighthearted humor aside, yeah the ending was completely forgettable so by your own statement, it therefore must be crap.
As for explaining it, I’m more annoyed at people who like things like Baby Shark 🦈 and this movie. We’ve become so dumbed down we love average, and I was castigating the audience rather than the movie, but politely.
As a recovering alcoholic, the scene with the decanter really ticked me off and made me hate the villain in the movie. I literally had to take a couple minutes to just sit and process what I was watching, as I know how hard it can be to stay sober. Props to the director for making a villain really easy to dislike.

This film hurt my soul. As someone who struggles with mental health and also a physical disorder, alongside financial hardship stemming from these things, this movie just hits me on a whole other level. It was fantastically made and the ending devastated me. I often rewatch films I enjoy but this one I can’t bring myself to rewatch because of how hard it hit me. Props to the directors, writers, and actors for making a masterpiece so jarring that I, a horror buff, can’t even stand to watch this kill count.
For the scene with the barrel or card, it should have always been the barrel. The human brain can sustain oxygen loss for around 4 minutes, and one’s heart would still be beating when the two minutes were up.
That won't matter if the person panicks and swallows water. Drowning is about swallowing water through the nose too much and filling up your lungs. People can drown with less than a minute if they can't hold their breath long enough underwater.
Yup. Every person should definitely have picked the barrel.
This movie left me feeling so empty and miserable for hours after watching it. Having lost both my parents (one of whom died of cancer) I can understand where Iris was coming from, but the ending was devastating. I don't think I'll ever watch this movie again, just like with The Mist - once is enough.
Had no sympathy for her. The character was already bland and unlikeable even before she killed some guy for money.
I watched this movie super late, and I think I finished at something like four am. I was tired as hell, but I had to immediately watch something else because of how I felt.

The ending of Would You Rather is soul crushing. After putting herself through hell for her brother, she comes home to find him dead. It's such a great movie, but damn, there's a good reason why I have only seen this movie twice.

Fun Fact: This movie came out the same year as Pitch Perfect, another movie Brittney Snow had a major role in.
How does one do two completely different roles in the span of a year?! Especially considering this movie's downer ending
@nijuo joing And he also voiced Ratchet in Transformers Prime (aka arguably the last decent Transformers show), as well as the Leader in the under-appreciated Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! Combs has made quite the name for himself in the world of voice acting, suffice to say!

I watched this on Netflix and it was really entertaining, but man that ending really broke my heart…she went through all that, finally thinking she was saving her brother, to come home and see that he “self-deleted” I mean her screaming “what did you do?” Over and over again was so haunting to me
'Fun' thing:
You can see him slumped over a little when she leaves to go to the place, implying he'd 'self deleted' before she left, and she didn't notice. Possibly could have saved him if she's noticed rather than running off for the money
I know it's kinda sick but the fact that she betrayed the guy right as he begun talking about why he was there and her reason for being there dying because she took the easy way out in the first place felt earned.

Jeffrey Combs also played The Scarecrow in Batman: The Animated Series.
Robin Lord Taylor is a treasure and the best part of Gotham.
Also mentioned his role in You - “lock him in a glass cage or something”
I see the ending as fitting only because she had a chance for both survivors to go home free but chose her own interest instead of both of theirs, especially considering their pack to band together.

I will say, with the ending of this movie it truly shows how sucky life can actually be. Sure the game itself seems pretty farfetched but people will do awful things to get what they want, even if it is for a good cause. And the fact that all of the awful things Iris did ended up being for nothing made it even more bitter to see.
Edit: Holy crap yall, I didn't think this would get this many likes. Thanks!
Capitalism* not life
The fact that it was all for nothing is a stinger. Like, the character would have to live with the memory of what transpired but the fact that she loses even when she wins is such a gut punch. Whew.

Right. I feel like Iris finding her brother dead was HER karma because she basically took away a brother from his three siblings.

This channel has singlehandedly expanded my willingness to watch films I wouldn't otherwise watch. James and Chelsea are truly unique in this over saturated CZcams market. They're independent, creative and have impeccable taste in horror. Whether it be serious, 'elevated horror' or fun going slashers, they never cease to amaze on the consistency or production value of their Kill Counts. These two belong in the film industry, charging what they like. But we have the pleasure of enjoying their content for free! Must we remember that. Please keep up the high standards, and I look forward to the next entry :)
Same!! Dead meat is the reason I opened myself to the horror genre and I'm so happy that I did.
I'm the same way. This channel has really helped me appreciate media more and expand my horizon
Agreed but may I mention the title “elevated horror” is dumb because the idea behind it makes other horror films come off as lesser or dumber than what gets that label-and considering what can be considered elevated horror can be applied to a ton of horror films that don’t get this label which makes the label meaningless.
Maybe arthouse or indie horror works a little better? But the term elevated horror has always been dumb to me and it’s an underhanded insult to other films in the same genre.
Ikr I’ve seen and heard of movies I never would have because of dead meat
lol nah I watch this shit so I don't have to watch the actual movie
I swear the wordplay with Iris and not wanting the world to see and her hiding the wound…James is GENIUS! ❤

She’s always been fantastic! I’m glad she’s still working.
She was fantastic in X
While she is most remembered from children and teen comedy flicks like The Pacifier and John Tucker Must Die, everyone should check in her performance in X from Ti West, that movie is fantastic
The cast of Gotham was insane! Literally the entire cast absolutely carried the show even when it wasn’t that good. Easily the best CW /FOX show they ever made.

Love the Star Trek references, Jeffery Combs is a legend
One extremely cool detail is that when Dr. Barden is driving to the house, you can see he has burn marks on his temples from where he was electrocuted during his own car battery round!
I didn't catch that, nice!
I've watched this movie about three times and, honestly, it's probably one of my favorites. I love the message, the tension building and just general plot. It's so easy to absolutely despise the antagonist and that's without all the special supernatural details of most horror movies.
I don't know if it's comparable, but the scenes with Iris and Conway being forced to consume things they worked so hard to resist really breaks me, cause it reminds me so much of my dad, who has spent the last eleven years recovering from extreme weight due to a food addiction. He hasn't eaten or drunk anything fatty or sugary for that whole time and has lost an insane amount of weight. This is honestly one of my favorite horror movies! But personally human vs. human vs. environment is my favorite genre. Some of the Saw kills and Circle are examples of what I mean.
This is one of few of the movies I watched before the kill count. I am an emotional person and watched this with my father. I began to cry when I realized what happened at the end with her brother.
I remember watching this at 13 as one of the first horror movies I chose to see, and I don’t think I quite fully grasped how devastating it was. Now watching it four years later, I get it.

Watching this kill count makes me sad because this seems like one of the most depressing films, kind of like The Mist. The worst kill of the movie is the elderly lady in the wheelchair, played by June Squibb. My wife has cerebral palsy which requires her to use a wheelchair and I know that if I sat through that movie it would kill me, I'd be so upset. The kill count is always amazing and every episode is always fun but this is definitely one movie I'm going to skip and never ever watch! There’s no chance lol. I specifically went to the movie theater to see “You’re Next” and I left feeling so unfulfilled.
i love "You're Next" so much! iconic
@@Brooklynsfinest2387 You’re in the minority here. “You’re Next” is universally loved and Erin is regarded as one of the best if not THE best female protagonist in a movie.
@@mochabearry Erin is well regarded because she’s far more capable than your typical horror movie protagonist. Problem is that capable and savvy heroines don’t make for scary movies, and this is for a handful of reasons. One being that we already know they’re going to make it out alive (and if they’re really likeable, it’s practically guaranteed). Another is that they don’t have room to grow as characters. When we meet them, they are already the best version of themselves, so we don’t get to see their characters develop. Combined, these elements completely ruin the emotional stakes in the movie. It’s no longer a horror movie, but an action movie. And its only entertainment comes from the catharsis of seeing bad people get their comeuppance for messing with the wrong person, not because we the audience are experiencing fear or terror.
As far as the horror goes, there were really only a couple of genuinely inspired scenes in You’re Next. The dinner table and the neighbors house come to mind there, but the rest of the movie was forgettable. They don’t make enough use of the characters or setpieces. Also the villains (the evil family members in general) were too cartoonish to be intimidating. The assassins removing their masks midway through was another big mistake on the writers’ part, since they were far more threatening before doing so.
Overall, it was a pretty good thriller, but a bad horror movie
@@VideoGuy232 Agree, that ''twist'' was also stupid as fuck. Not a fan of ''You're Next''' at all. Besides maybe those arrows
I don't know why, but I really like horror stories that twist the concepts of childish games we all played at least once in our life.
My personal favorites are the "Jinrou Game" book series and the manga "Doubt", which both twist around the rules of "Mafia"/"The Werewolves" to make them psychological thrillers.
So is doubt kinda like among us?
My favorite take on this genre is Ready or Not. It's a brilliantly done movie.
@@danielf1833 Uh... Well it's much older than Among Us, but yeah you could say that.
BUT! There's actually "Judge", another manga done by the same author and it's basically an Among Us debate for 6 tomes. There's even two imposters. (It's also much older than the game though)
(It's pretty damn good too. There's also a movie that doesn't follow the manga at all apart from the base premise.)
@@broceollomon Ready or Not is a banger indeed.
Ghost in the Graveyard (2019) is another good one!
Can we appreciate every single outfit related to whichever kill count he does along with details in the background of his studio for the movies he’s kill counting
I was watching this and i havent watched this movie for a long time so i was shocked to see Rob Wells who plays Peter in this seeing as he is also Ricky in Trailer Park Boys who is my favorite TV show character to date. So interesting seeing how he plays his character with similar mannerisms. Great video!
This was one of the first horror movies I ever really watches (I was an easy to scare kid) and 8 years after seeing it for the first time I still think about it often. Just the way the story played out and the last 2 deaths made it one to stick with me forever. Definitely an incredibly done film.
9:38 for those who don’t know Jeffrey combs played “the question” In the animated justice league show. He also was one of the best parts of that show in my opinion.
Great catch! I forgot how iconic Jeffrey Combs’ voice is
He also voiced Scarecrow in the new Batman Adventures.
He was also the voice of Ratchet in Transformers Prime
Kaden Overstreet true! God his voice was so chilling, I loved it
He was ratchet on transformers prime and brainiac in injustice 2
I think having so many actors known for campy/loveable/comedic roles really elevates the utter hopelessness of the film. You're waiting for a millisecond of levity that you know these actors are all capable of and it just never comes.
I found this film really depressing when I first watched it, it made me so uncomfortable, I couldn’t help but imagine myself in their position constantly, its so frightening. Guess that’s a sign of a great horror film!
I thought the kill count comparison to previous movies was really interesting, thanks James!
21:24 It was neat to see other movies with similar kill ratios.
Thanks for another awesome video!
I can't watch horror movies without not being able to sleep for a few days, so this is really helpful to get the best parts of a movie without being terrified
God this movie’s ending gut-punched me. Great film though. Also it’s crazy that James is only just now covering Dracula. Can’t wait!!
*now*
You’re the first
@@k1ngr0g59 oh, cool.
“More thigh trauma than a KFC” nearly choked me to death on my on spit. That was hilarious
A year late but ong, low key probably one of the best jokes I’ve ever heard
Would you rather is one of the few movies i can actually sit through and enjoy, meanwhile other movies i cant stand to watch for more than 30 minutes. The plot the characters and the acting is 100%! Best movie❤
I’ve been waiting for this one for 3 years. Thank you
I liked that kill comparison between other films that have the same number of kills, that was really cool with the new graphics ❤️
I watched this movie with a group of friends in early March 2020, it was the last time we all hung out together before Covid and i remember all of us just going to bed right after because of how bleak the ending was. A seriously incredible movie
I always find it so interesting when an ending leaves you with the immediate need to just go sleep it off
Going to bed?
Do you live with them or something?

Omg I love your new back round I’ve been watching you for like 3 years❤️
I remember the first time I caught this movie on Netflix the ending flabbergasted me. I was quoting the guy with the glasses from an episode of the Twilight Zone, "That's just not fair. There was time now. It's not fair!"
Jeffrey Combs is one of my favorites also. He's been in some bad movies, but he's never been bad in a movie. Very underrated.
Sasha Grey is a bit more underrated imo, her movie performances always blow me away
@@qwertyasdf4081 that girl can ride a BBC 😆
The way James says "whipping staff" reminds me of the Family Guy episode in how Stewie pronounced "cool quip".
This has to be my favorite death game film, if not one of my favorite horror movies. I watched it with a friend a few years ago and I remember being so empty and devastated at the ending. It’s a lot more impactful than any other movie of its genre that I’ve seen, and I generally think about it every so often in my day to day life.
I remember watching this movie when it first came out. The movie did a good job making you get attached to these characters by nothing having them be the usual a-holes that are all in it for themselves and when they do becomes more self-preserved, their motivations justify it. And that moment of slight relief when she wins just for the ending to sucker-punch you in the gut had me reeling the first time I saw it.
JAMES!!!! Thank you so so much for the wedding shoutout! We were both so shocked to hear our names come out of your mouth!🤩 This meant so much🥹🥹 Neither of us had any idea it was coming - this is just the icing on top of our wedding cake😂
Congrats to you both!!
Congratulationsss
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations on your wedding!
Congratulations on the wedding
I watched this movie really young with a friend cause we'd always watch random horror movies on netflix together and it always stuck with me. I rewatched it in recent years because I became a fan of Robin Lord Taylor and Jeffrey Combs and I still enjoyed it even after all that time. Glad to see this getting a kill count, I think it's a bit underrated.
Ive caught up with more movies then I even know I missed on this show then I thought were possible. God, I love your channel
I remember watching this and being amazed at how well acted Rob Wells was in it. I grew up with the Trailer Park Boys and seeing him in this was eye opening
Same, Robb Wells character in TPB was and is always one of my favorites. Seeing him in this movie and acting something that isn't a trailer park drug dealer it's just mind blowing because he nailed this.
He was also in Hobo with a shotgun
@@braino64 I got my dad to watch it with me after I met the TTPBs at TOFanExpo he was almost in shock at how different it was
Yep EZ 😩👍🏿
Yeah same with Eddie Steeples I just knew him from My name is Earl
My older sister and her cool friends watched this when I was a kid and obviously, my eight year old self wasn't allowed in the room. So I watched it on my own time, and I was so excited when I heard you were covering it on the Kill Count. My memories of this movie are bleak and vague, and I enjoyed revisiting it through James' eyes!
I still remember being traumatized by watching Saw3 and the horrific twisty-turny trap when I was like 15 or sth. Nothing bleak or vague about that one, just an intense feeling of disgust.
Seeing that one on the kill count made me realize how you kinda get desensitized to all this stuff or maybe it's just that I'm just not as naive and simply believing what I see, like back then.
Always nice to see how one grows as a person and how things change along the way.
@Phazz Yess! When I was in elementary school my best friend was OBSESSED with Saw and he would show me all the clips, the hair pulling one left me checking my scalp for blood for *years* every time a strand of hair got pulled out
@nijuo joing the rack, if you were curious is the trap name
The barrel was DEFINIETLY the right choice. holding your breath for 2 minutes is doable, especially if you prep for it by taking slow deep breaths to slow your heart rate beforehand.
"The shot John Heard around the world" well done sir. Well done
James these jokes are so creative and good, “Iris” hiding her wound because she doesn’t think the world would understand? 😂😂 that is so good I love your humor James!!!
i don’t really get it. a lot of things could stab someone accidentally, people could but even more likely a story would be something in nature like falling on a rock or a fallen branch (but like a big branch with a smaller jaded part to it)
anyways do you mind explaining the joke?
@@nifynitm Look up ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls.
@@nifynitm It's a reference to the Goo Goo Dolls song "Iris" from the late 90's. "I don't want the world to see me/'Cause I don't think that they'd understand" is a lyric from the song and her name is Iris.
and all the trailer park boys jokes 😂

Would You Rather is one of the realistic and heart breaking movies I had ever watched and they did a great job at their acting and performance.
I’ve honestly been waiting ages for this!!!!
Brittany Snow also I recall seen mainly in _Prom Night_ remake which was a disappointment
RIP John Heard, known as Kevin McCallister's dad Peter in first _Home Alone_ and New York sequel
Penguin was absolutely the best part about Gotham. So seeing him here in a semi similar role (though worse here) made me happy. I'm also always glad when a childhood game turned horror is done well!
“before The Question can finish his question”
love Jeffrey Combs in that role (JLU). he also did an AMAZING Braniac in Injustice 2.
“the plastic tips on shoelaces are called aglets, but their true purpose is sinister.”
I know Combs from Transformers Prime as Ratchet.
Love the Rickyisms you added in whenever you talked about Peter!
9:36 Love the Question reference! That was one of my favorite Jeffery Combs roles as a kid!
