sadly and lawfully hes not from what ive heard, the definition of rape (according to what they read, i think they said from the book of law or whatever) is "forcefully penetrating a woman without consent" or something, well they meant that only a rapist could be a man forcefully penetrating a vagina WITH a penis. i think i read that this now was renewed to a more gender equal definition that all genders can be rapists.

This was a very intense movie. It’s hard to root for anyone. I’m still shocked that we’re getting a sequel.
Ah
I'm really curious how the sequel is gonna go since the trailers set it up as though Stephen Lang is the "good" guy in this. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but it definitely has me interested.

james growing up in detroit as a backstory really explains him counting kills in horror movies for a living
I couldn't imagine being proud of these cities. I live in Baltimore and it's terrible. Detroit has been robbed into poverty by politicians, crimes out of control and std's, the water was ending ppl that drank it, grape is out of control, the ppl treat each other awful, they allow minorities to suffer in mass but let's be proud of this place. Only Americans would think this means anything but the place is a ish hole.

Oh yeah? Mr Everywhere
I love this movie. Its great, intense and imo a really interesting concept to make the seemingly disadvantaged person the most terrifying one in the room. But I also hate how some people try to defend the old guy's behavior. Like, yes, being a burglar is awful but it does NOT compare to keeping someone locked up, forcefully "fertilising" them and forcing them to birth you a child
Thank you! I'm seeing so many comments defending him. "Rocky, Money & Alex tried to rob an OLD, BLIND VETERAN WITH A DEAD CHILD!" Like??? You expect me to feel sorry for him? Being elderly, serving the US, having a deal kid & having a disability will never excuse kidnapping, torturing & impregnating a young woman against her will.
Shoot, they even acknowledge that they'll get 10-15 years in prison for this robbery if caught.
That's NOTHING compared to what Norman would have gotten, had Cindy been found & saved from his basement.
Morally & legally standing, Norman is the worst here.
@@peachyqueen4399 Yeah, i can agree with people saying that it's hard to root for those burglars when they're trying to rob a blind elderly guy but the moment the plot twist with the pregnant imprisoned girl happens EVERYONE should understand how much more fucked up it is and it's scary to see that it's not the case for many people

@@josht5453 Bruh it was a group trip with the house I was staying at, it wasn't a date. I had no choice.
To make the old man an even more evil villain, while also adding in more realism here:
I imagine the woman being locked in the basement was being force fed, as she probably wouldn't want to eat good given to him. At best, that means having a tube forcefully shoved down her throat, likely causing internal damage, vomiting, etc. With that and the added stress, and no medical help, and the man being old, the chances of a miscarriage are pretty high. She likely was raped repeatedly, miscarried, and was left to bleed out. And since he used a turkey baister, the rape would have been extremely painful physically, and likely had to be done multiple times over several months to get her pregnant.
Lastly, either the woman would have died during childbirth, or the old man would have killed her afterwards. Meaning the man that was made a hero in the next movie was a murder, rapist, kidnapping monster who tortured an innocent woman over the course of several months.
The other thing to think aboyt: How does she use the toilet like that?
@@destendgem probably doesn’t.
“Innocent”
She was not innocent. It has been stated that she used her money and connections to escape responsibility for the crime, which is one of the reasons Norman carried out his revenge in the first place.
It turned him into a vengeful nihilist who lost his belief in justice and morality.
@@whoareyoutoaccuseme6588 Doesn’t mean that she deserved any of what happened to her

The blind old man is a monster. Yes, the teens are robbers, but they are not evil. And they never hurt anyone, and they don't torture people and brutally kill others. Fuck that old man.
One plot hole for me in this movie was at the end... didn't the police find his basement with a pregnant dead woman and chains to keep someone hostage? didn't they find his fridge with a lot of his "juice" and didn't ask any explanation? did he have time to clean and hide everything before police arrived?
He did dispose of the pregnant woman's body beforehand, and both of the victims were killed upstairs so the police wouldn't have reason to go in the basement
@@andrewlance3898 but it would still be appropriate to at least check the basement
@@andrewlance3898 the old man would've been in the basement when they found him tho
@@drillbit8280 not really cause they are going to hurry the dying dude to the hospital
tbh forensics should have found out about everything also considering the blood of the pregnant women in the basement. Investigators would have to search the whole house too in case the story he told was untrue
I love Jane Levy, she’s a wonderful actress. I’m surprised she went through a lot of shit for this movie
All these videos are quite interesting that I end up staying quiet and I do really enjoy this so keep on with this 👍
I love how he shows the Raycons, while showing us that he has been working out. Looking good there without the shirt.
“Sorry for the Hannibal delay.”
It’s alright, James, I’m used to it. I’ve been waiting for the season 4 of NBC’s Hannibal too 🥲
Me too
Wait there’s going to be a fourth?
Max James that’s the dream 😂😭 but hopefully there is, Bryan and the cast seems eager to make another one
Ugh please the fannibals are restless
meeeee
I watched this with a few friends on Halloween a few years ago and we were all very underwhelmed by it. I was surprised since this film has such a good reputation.
I really liked the attention to detail in that two minute shot in the beginning.
Bro, Alex gets beat up so much and doesn’t die until he randomly gets shot. I was more shocked that he finally died, than anything else in this movie. 😂
I can't be the only one who felt bad for Alex after he died and later got the Dull Machete. Also, I'm with you about him surviving a bunch of sh*t he went through till the end.
That’s like the dude with the long hair in his evil dead remake those are two characters that went through hell and back
Yeah.
Elite soldier somehow doesn't know that you shouldn't just assume someone is dead, even when you have eyes, and just leaves.
9:51 “He finds 3 pairs of shoes. He didn’t remember having 3 feet.” THIS KILLED ME!!!

Wasn't expecting much when I first watched this and I absolutely loved it, there were a few things but it definitely kicks ass.
Watched this for the first time a while back. One of the most genuinely terrifying movies I've seen in a while.
The more real and less over the top a horror movie is the more it seems to be more artistic and fun to watch. I mean we all love gore but the storytelling and acting is the most important part over effects, especially CGI.
It sucks that people shit on realistic horror. Anytime I try to get anyone to watch a more realistic horror movie like Hush, they always write it off as incapable of scaring them because it's not paranormal. I wish more people would actually try things, before writing them off.
Indeed
I had a stroke reading that
Thank you Wutaii, I'm fucking glad I'm not the only one thinking that!
@@improbablyyourdad8458 watched hush, and it wasn’t as scary as things that are paranormal. I percieve horror in the unknown, other too. But not watching something because it “isn’t scary”? Kinda weird
As someone who also grew up in Lincoln Park, I appreciate all the Detroit jokes you make during the kill count. I cried at the wallside refrence.
I love how in The Numbers, Money is a bloody money symbol.
This video made me want to go watch the sequel and also I didn't notice at first but I have the exact same safe that's in the background so that little fact made me smile
Being a fellow James and horror love its cool to have a guy to watch, who not only summarizes movies for those who don't go to the movies, BUT also counts kills (putting so much work into doing that, he's talked about taking hours to count) I believe that this man deserves all success he gets.
It's gonna be interesting how they'll pull off the sequel.
In this film, he's kept people captive, as well as killed the robbers, and the trailers for 2 portray him as being the good guy.
Hopefully this time he really is. He’s such a good character yet evil but good at the same time
@@Matt-uy5qc in the trailer people are hunting him and clearly know what hes done so it is confusing
maybe there will be a twist, like maybe the people who came for the girl were hired by rocky (i assume since the next movie takes place 8 years later), it would be a great twist. if it doesn't happen then im just confused as everyone else.
You can be the Protagonist and not be the good guy.
You can be the Antagonist and not be the bad guy.
I personally think it could be a prequel story, explaining why he's so fucked now
Not only do I love your videos, but I love all the metro Detroit references in your videos! I'm a fellow metro Detroiter as well. Keep up the great work dude! 👍
"Cool his Jet's Pizza". OMG I just got that reference. Brilliant!
I was just gonna watch the kill count but the way James introduced it made me so exited I’m just gonna watch it now.
Edit: just finished watching it is was great, I really recommend it before watching the kill count and having it all spoiled!
I definitely recommend that too! I've ruined so many good movies by watching the kill count before the movie! Most of the time they were movies I thought I wasn't excited about but then realized I should've been when I watch the kill count!
There were only two pairs of shoes on the ground, not 3. Alex puts his on when he leaves, so when blind guy finds shoes they aren't there. Which I only know because I watched it literally right before I watched the kill count though lmao still a great video
Good spot!
Plot Twist- The whole time the old guy was sleep walking
