Ah yes, the Holy Month of Pride. Following hot on the heels of LGBT History Month, International Day Against Homophobia and, of course, Transgender Day of Remembrance. All a bit tired, tedious, corporate, compelled, and virtue-signally for me these days. The Pride movement has been completely hijacked.

The sooner LGB pushes out the TQI the better. We fought so hard for LGB rights in the 60’s, 70’s and the early 80’s in Australia…now the tqi are erasing us. Leave them behind.

I'm still watching so forgive me if this is already discussed: Most gay/lesbian people I know are no longer celebrating "pride" because we really feel stuck and extremely uncomfortable with being grouped with transgender activism. How can we separate ourselves from the gender radicals who have hijacked our community? For us, being a very visible lesbian couple with kids, most people we meet for the first time just assume we agree with transgenderism which, we adamantly do not...but it's nearly impossible to discuss or even simply respond authentically without being shut out and treated like bigots. It's like a new "closet" from which we are afraid to say how we really feel. It's good to know we are not alone but so many gay/lesbian people are feeling "erased" and asking the same question: how can our voices be heard when it's assumed, even expected/demanded that LGB people must agree with everything transgender?

I grew up partying in West Hollywood; I witnessed the anti woman behavior from gay men ; and as a lesbian if I called it out I would just be painted as a “man hating dyke” ….just because we’re lesbian doesn’t take away our experience of being a woman….lesbians (women!) have been sounding the alarm on this anti woman behavior and holding the front lines for years.

Thank you for speaking bravely against the horror that is medically arresting children's development. Anyone associated with that and not speaking out has nothing to be proud of

How do to help Ugandans gain lgbt rights?
How did we gain rights in the uk? We stood up for ourselves and we won people over with our own hard work, showing people we are normal people.
We went through absolute hell with street attacks, kidnappings, rapes, friends murdered. In Hull, a report in 2002 showed 1/3 gay men had been raped in a homophobic attack and 49% gay women had been raped in a homophobic attack. No one ever talks about this. No one ever talks about what we went through.
But we did, and at the same time as going through absolute hell, we worked hard, we educated ourselves, we worked two or three jobs at a time, we put up with our parents throwing us out, we put up with losing job after job for being gay, we went out and got another job, we went to workplaces that were gay run, we learned self defence, we stood up for ourselves, and we won hearts and minds by our decent, good behaviour.
This is what the lgbt people of Uganda and where ever else need to do. Western interference never helps. It isn’t culturally sensitive and it causes more harm than good.
What a lot of people don’t realise is that the anti homosexuality laws were put into place by the British and French etc because the Europeans were shocked at the level of man against boy sexual abuse in Africa. Apparently, it still goes on today. Again, no one talks about it.
Ugandan rights have to come from the Ugandan people.

Maybe we should start a new gay and lesbian pride? Just one day, not in June - LGB (same sex attracted) adults only.

Peter Phile, sorry Thatchell, is another Harry Hay. Harry Hay was an associate of Alfred Kinsey. It's awful to watch but a need to know, and that is the documentary Kinsey Syndrome. Dr Judith Reisman, also exposes Alfred Kinsey and is very much a NEED to know, in the whole grand, scheming, schism.

Odd that ITV had a need to pay Schofield's male sex-partner. They would have only done that if they were legally exposed. I think that Malcolm is right - there is more to this story than has been revealed to date.

As far as misogyny goes in gay organisations, my experience was that the women vs men in gay rights tended to be quite adversarial both ways. Women gave plenty of man hating as good as they got. I am sure some of the men had misogynistic views. And I can tell you there are plenty of venomous aggressive attacks and put downs from women at the time. Even today in LGB Alliance in Australia recently I have copped unpleasantries from some of the women. Too old for it now. Don't have the time for it I stand by LGB Alliance's political stand but just don't have the time for this sibling rivalry.

I had to leave mid stream, but since my comment was brought up. I wanted to explain further. (I do like my kink, I just don't understand the need to do it infront of strangers-- and this is coming from someone who was a nudist for years)
In the US gay marriage was not legal in '98. I truly wanted to go join pride where it was, hey we are just like the straight people. But that wasn't what I saw in our pride parades and events. They always seemed to be a way to shock the straights with mostly gay sex. I'm sure there were some lesbians showing off thier kinks as well, but the men where the ones the news always covered.
In '98 at least it was understood that pride was an adult activity, it was still a public activity but you weren't encouraged to bring children. Now pride says bring the kids.
