Exactly. Average joe will look at the price tag first before anything else. Doesn't matter for them if the Snapdragon has longer battery life. The run times from Intel & AMD good enough as long they save a lot upfront.
This is why they're releasing multiple variants including less powerful one's for average Joes
@@williammaverick but there is still some average joe picks a bigger price tag like Apple Mac Book pro for multimedia production... i believe this still cheaper option than Apple products if more branded companies like HP, Dell, Acer, Samsung, and etc use this new chipset into their products with more competitive pricing
I guarantee you they will launch it at $1000 to compete with Intel core ultra PCs and then their Emulator will be a hit and miss and thus they will fail.

Due to PC Hardware fragmentation, programs barely utilize advanced features such as SIMD instructions, or APIs like OpenCL, DirectML, etc. With Windows being an x86 centric operating system, and its entire ecosystem of programs being optimized for the architecture, which has lacked a dedicated NPU for all these years, I can’t help but think that the NPU is barely going to have any meaningful use for end consumers. The fastest NPU on a Windows laptop is as meaningful as the stability and robustness of Windows as an ecosystem for the ARM architecture.

Apple M chips have powerful ProRes, HEVC/AVC 8K video Encoders and Decoders which Snapdragon is missing.
Also we want every HDR licensing from X elite to support Dolby Vision, HDR10+ etc for both decoding and encoding.

this means gamers can't enjoy low wattage pc game in good fps this generation. maybe x elite 2. but seeing amd next gen apu, it seems amd will still be the king windows handheld performance leader, sadly.. need more competition right now

Probably, they did some performance tests on Linux a while back. it should be SystemReady Compliment too.
But isn’t all the computing done on the server side? Like ChatGPT?
On device... that's why they're talking so much about the NPU instead of everything else.
Because today's PCs aren't powerful enough for AI tasks, that's why it has to be offloaded to the server. If it evolved to a point where the NPUs can run those big models locally, we probably would.
There's also other uses cases where it's just so much better to do it locally like noise cancellation, background removal/replacement in webcams, or "Magic Mask" (automatic rotoscoping) to reduce the latency or avoid having to roundtrip gigabytes of files with a server.

PLEASE... dedicate some resource to full fledged linux kernel support. A drop in the ocean you'll spend working to get Microsoft to drag themselves out of the 80s would ensure ARM makes a huge splash in portable.
If you need convincing... from there, how long do you think it will be until server is in reach?... the ecosystem is already there and supports it, the developers want it, all you'd have to do is pump out hardware and it's yours!
