How to select a trowel and set Mosaic tile. Coverings 2023 Demonstration. Why do tile installations fail? Because they were installed wrong, Avoid the mistakes, get some training, do it right, attend a free tile installation workshop. There is a common misconception that installing tile is easy, anyone that has a trowel and a bucket of adhesive can do it. Spread some cement, stick some tile, apply some grout, done. There is nothing further from the truth, Tile installation requires preparation, knowledge and skill. There are methods and standards to follow, a long lasting trouble free tile installation depends on the installers ability to perform all the actions in sequence, properly. The NTCA, CTEF and all the major manufacturers have free training and workshops for tile installers, Schluter, Laticrete, Mapei, Ardex, Custom, and more. Of these the The National Tile Contractors Association, NTCA has the most comprehensive, in depth and complete training in all aspects of the trade, with free workshops all over the country and throughout the year. Attend some training, in the vast majority of cases it is free, the only thing you have to do is get there, they will even feed you I am proud to be a member of the NTCA.

A couple of weeks ago I finished my first mosaic tile job. It wasn't easy but it turned out SO BEAUTIFUL. I have a lot of respect for Sal, so I'm looking forward to hearing him teach this. I'm sure I'll learn great things to use on my next job!

Start at top, or start at bottom?
Why didn't you tamp down the non knocked down thinset? Different sized knotch too?

I love your videos but the audio here is awful and I can't hear you or the guy with headset.
Was at coverings, big show, audio is always a problem.
Disappointed. Video would have been extremely helpful if audible. Understand it's a big show, but you could transcribe the results in the description above. Use test trowel styles, sizes and techniques but we have no idea what worked because we can't hear/see the trowel sizes. Useless and frustrating.

What a waste of time and completely invalid comparison unless you only change one thing at a time; u changed several variables at once.
Shouldn't the trowel size be similar to the tile thickness when it comes to mosaics?
