- This weekend project was to knock out the mosaic herringbone tile backsplash in the kitchen. Here is a list and links to all the things I used.
Tile: It’s a lot cheaper when you buy it by the case. I we picked it up for $110/case
www.homedepot.com/p/MSI-Berga...
Mortar but not mortar mix (Omnigrip tile adhesive):

Pre-mixed grout (Simple Grout):
amzn.to/3vGs4w1
Ridgid Tile Saw:
amzn.to/34UTQcB
For smaller tiles it says to use a 3/16” trowel which HD had aswell:
amzn.to/3fIlhfB
I’m not going to list all the little things like buckets, sponges, and rages. I’m pretty confident you can get or already have those sitting around.
Cameras Used:
Cannon M50: amzn.to/3ieEeIC
Go Pro: amzn.to/3ihDrXl - Jak na to + styl
If you care for links there are a couple in the description for both the title and grout used. Thanks!
I am a professional Tiler..and have to say you've done an absolute perfect job.. Well done great work.
I almost gave up on doing my kitchen's backsplash because most videos make it seem so complicated, but your video is wonderful, to the point with clear instructions. Thank you!!!
Glad it helped. Hopefully you were able to get yours done.
Everyone this is great opportunity, Awesome Project. Looking so sustainable. Hope it will go a long way in future. Really happy to be part of such a nice project
All the best

I think you guys did a great job. Excellent work keep it up
Thank you! Will do!
U know what, certainly giving you a sub after this vid! I took on a backsplash job, it turns out its herringbone like this! I was intimidated b/c ive only used stack and stagger methods straight across, so i was worried! This vid gives me confidence ill be just fine this weekend! 🙏 thank you. Ill be checking out ur other vids next
Great job. We went with the same Herringbone from h
HomeDepot but got the Angorra style. Thanks for this video, made it very easy to tile as a 1st timer. :)
Glad it helped!
Just beautiful great job
Thank you! 😊
Great work.
Awesome job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful job!
Thank you!
Looks good!
Thanks!
Great Job!
Thanks!
Your dad is what my firends and I call a "real man"
Yes indeed!
I have a similar tile ready to go up on my backsplash but I’m considering returning them for something easier like a subway style. haha. Seems daunting.
Once i started going it wasn't too bad.
Nice work. You’ve convinced me to do some upgrades!! Should I caulk the cracks where the counter meets the stove?
I didn't but I guess you can if you want. You'll just have to remember that if you need to pull the stove out in the future.
Thanks for sharing this. We are going to do the same herringbone style in a bathroom, so this is very helpful. One question, did you use grout caulk along the bottom edge and in the corners or did you just push some regular grout in with your fingers? Thanks
I did both. I filled most of the seam with grout and then I went back.....after the video and put a bead of silicone.
Great job, I'm doing the EXACT same job, same tile. Your video is giving me confidence. What size trowel did you use? I've been told 3/16", but yours looks bigger. Did you caulk between the counter and the bottom row of backsplash?
It was 3/16". I did do a bead of caulk between the counter and bottom. (I did it after i'd posted the video so it wasn't in there.
That kitchen looks amazing !!!!! how long did it take you to complete the project? thanks for the tips.
Watching you guys making it look so easy just gets me pumped up to tackle any home improvement dream, thanks for the helpful tips.
Asking about just the backsplash or the entire kitchen? Backsplash was a couple weekends. The kitchen was an addition that if you watch this video you can see the entire process: czcams.com/video/knQjjjKAI_M/video.html
Great job! What did you use on the bottom level for spacers? I didn't see any wedge spacers?
I used the same 1/8 spacers as used between the tiles.
Can you explain how to get the corners to line up? We're having issues with our small herringbone mosaic tile on a shower wall.
How far off are they? Are you using individual tiles or a mosaic square like in the video? I may not be much help since I haven't' done a shower yet but maybe someone else will chime in.
But did you seal the marble before and after grouting?
Did you ever clear seal it afterward to get rid of the extra grout on the tile surface and make it extra shiny? And recommendations?
I did not seal mine but I'd assume any tile sealer would work.
Do you apply anything special to the Sheetrock prior to the thin-set? Like a sealer of sorts? Or do you just thin-set right over the paint?
I didn't add anything. Since this is a backsplash it will see very little water.
how did you get the outlets cut out. Did you have to replace tiles after cutting out the outlet? Also, did you put on a sealer between setting the tile and the grout?
Outlets were a pain, some lined up with the edge of a tile but most were cut out and shaped with snips then hand placed.
Did the little pieces on the bottom of the sheets break off when you cut with your tile saw? I noticed you putting them in after you put up the big piece.
Yes any of the small pieces would just fall off when cut and yes it was pain to fill the gaps.
@@-DIYPRO- Gotcha, so you would remove the small pieces and cut them separately/individually? I ran into this issue yesterday and trying to figure out the most efficient way to complete the job.
Would rather pay you guys to do mine so I know it will turn out right
I'd rather pay someone else too!
Did you cut the bottom row straight across the bottom?
I did, should have showed a better picture of that but yes I cut little triangles off the bottom.
how much grout did you use for 80 sq feet of surface?
(2) gallons and (1) quart
Lo tienes en español gracias
de nada!
Has the adhesive held up?
Nothing has fallen off yet!
@@-DIYPRO- Thanks!
No upper cabinets?
No uppers and we love it!
Can I say FK YA!. Love the vid as I am attempting this myself......without my DIY Dad....:( RIP DAD
P.S where did you get the hanging lights? exactly what we are looking at.
Thanks man. I made the lights. Check out some of my earlier videos for those!
pot filler !!! cool
Yes, real first world problems we have that we can't walk over to the sink to fill up a pot!
@@-DIYPRO- lol. told my wife and she didnt' like the idea, oh well. I thought it was cool.
too small tiles covering a large space, should have picked bigger tile.
