- After the accident with the snow and windshield I've installed a new dash cam to capture everything while I'm driving. I also installed some LED bulbs in my tail lights for crispy turn signals and brake lights.

Finally! I thought I was the only one that preferred the USDM taillights. Nice to see a comparo
I like that simple led tail light mod! Thanks for the info! I'll definitely give it a go as soon as the weather here in MN/WI inches closer to spring.
Hey Chris! The more videos the better. You're very knowledgeable, and I enjoy learning any and all information from you!
I dig the MK7 reviews you do. I just picked up a used 2016 2 weeks ago (I'm a MK3 guy) and I love it and love finding out about the quirks, etc.
Keep up the good work Chris. 2 uploads per week is a good idea. Always nice to have some regular MK7 content from yourself and Whenzlunch 😎
great videos all the time,,you talk in lay man terms that we can all understand, thats why they are great..keep up the great work
I honestly could not tell a huge difference between the stock vs LED tail lights in your side by side clip. When I first clicked this video I thought you had installed LED license plate lights. Have you ever considered installing some?
Thanks for the reply. I'll be looking forward to it!
Chris, nice vid and I look forward to more. Have you decided which Philips LED bulb would work for the back up lamps?
When you showed the MK6 GTi was that actually your one? Or was it just an image from the internet to use as a example. Weird question I know but you don't strike me as the kind of guy to have those rims.
Either way great video, such as shame what happened to your car. It only happens when you have a new car similar thing happened to a family member of mine, also his first new car ever.
I upgraded to LEDs and has both sides flash lite dark lit. Also did the license plate and backup lights with LEDs from DeAutoKey. Easy convert and no dead LEDs. What brand of dash cam did you install? Did the power cord end with a USB power plug? Great videos, keep em coming!
I noticed you took the paddle shift extensions off after the windshield incident. Are you saving them for the new steering wheel? I installed the same ones on my MK7 Sport, but my verdict is still out.
Definitely like the idea of more videos each week. Anything cars is great! Just an idea I'd like your perspective on because you've owned multiple GTI's now, is a video on your thoughts of the Golf R..is it really worth it where the GTI is already so good? Maybe VW would hook you up with one to test drive!
German Driver Awesome. Looking forward to it, and the warmer weather!
did you have to get canbus warning cancellers?
Take a look at the MK7.5 LED tail lights. They look way better and have the cool audi turn signal function. There are videos on youtube
Do you think those will be able to install on the MK7? I love them.
The consensus is that they will fit no problem. The opening for the taillight is exactly the same in the MK7.5 as the MK7. It may take some effort to get the cool turn signal function working but I'm sure with some VAGCOM coding it will work no problem. I'm really excited for these to come out and am going to get a pair as soon as I can.
I have a Sportwagen.
Is the turn signal a combo with the brake light in stock form or is the turn a separate bulb? I want to try yellow led turns.
Guess I should check the bulbs or the manual..lol
Yes it’s a combo. Brake light/parking light/turn signal
So the bulbs were just plug and play? No need to add a controller to cancel the codes?
I'm curious, what do the center lights closest to each other do? Or is that just a Reflector?
Reverse and fog
subbed because of OBD Eleven😋
Why is your wheel scratched?
Your Amazon link it to red LED bulbs, but they didn't look red in the video. Please confirm, and thanks!
Chris, Sorry for peppering you with all these questions. !. How did you get the lights to alternate on blinking? 2. Why did you elect to use red bulbs instead of white?
Hey I'm looking at the GTI as my next car prolly the 2018 since the digital dash looks cool. What I was wondering is how is VW GTI is mechanically and do the cars last long and are problem free. I've never had a VW before I plan on keeping it stock maybe a stage one after warranty expires. Does anyone have one with high miles on it I usually buy Honda and Toyota for longevity but looking for something more fun to drive.
Ok nice to hear. I bought a new Tacoma and have had nothing but problems with it and have had all regular service. Can't wait to get the refreshed GTI!
Chris, where did you order Phillips bulbs from? I don't see them on Amazon. Tire rack has then for $20 a pair.
Amazon indicates that these do not fit the 2017 gti. Is that an error with Amazon ?
Thank you for the reply! I'll give it a go.
Awesome videos btw.
hey man did you order the 7440 Intense Red Vision from Amazon and did they end up fitting your 2017? I am thinking of buying but they say the same error for me on Amazon.
I did not purchase any LED bulbs yet. I'm thinking about just going with DeAutoKey's LEDs. double the price but much better quality. He just did a revision that is a lot brighter than the originals. plus a lifetime warranty. deautokey.com/product/mkvii-gti-complete-brake-osram-led-kit-bright-error-free-plug-play
I did the DeAutoKey ED upgrade to my MK7 brake/stop taillights and the license plate lights - 6 months ago - no problems no codes.
German Driver, just wondering if you're planning to get your GTI performance tuned?
I would love it if you did a video explaining to us greenies why you don't want to mess with flashing the ECU, what the JB4 is and why it's your choice, how much boost you expect from it, how much it costs, etc. I think a lot of viewers would enjoy this. Thanks in advance!
Hm LED in the front but standard bulbs in the back... VW USA that's just dumb lol :D
I'd personally get the normal LED tail lights (European) or the new "update" MK7 GTI ones with dynamic blinkers etc!
If it was the one flashing on the left, it does not look as bright as the halogen bulb on the right. I would stick with halogen since it has been my experience that the led bulbs are never as bright.
I've never had a Volkswagen, heard the horror stories as I am sure many have. But, I take great care of my cars. I've had an Acura RSX since 2002 and it's still going. Would the GTI worth the investment? Looking to buy myself a birthday present in a few months. Enjoy your videos and love your car.
Bernard_Bernoulli just the whole they break down all the time and are at the dealer more than the owner. I always equate that with people who don't take care of their car properly. It won't sway me from buying one since I take care of my car when I have them. I just see people trying to disparage the cars a lot.
German Driver thanks for the reply, I definitely look forward to finally getting mine.🙂
you will love either transmission. i have dsg, and its modeled after the porsche pdk system, and the way the car can put the power down to the front wheels is amazing. i;ve pulled plenty of genesis coupes and focus st's. make sure you get the limited slip diff.
German Driver thanks so much for responding. Don't plan on doing any modifications when purchase mine. I don't want to take a chance on voiding the warranty.
ddpaintballer thanks for the reply, it sounds like a fun car to drive. I will probably get the dsg, one reason I'm in traffic a lot and I want my girlfriend to be able to drive it.
The PHILIPS 7440 are the only Legal retrofits LED, even OSRAM say, for off road use only, it makes a difference if something g ever happens, Philips come with 12 year warranty, if you register online Amazon had em cheap
on the 2016 didn't need the load resistors across them, no errors, work perfectly
Dashcam is pretty regular stuff for russian cars )
Man get a steering wheel wrap or somethin, that big scratch on you steering wheel is just kinda gross. No hard feelings, still love your videos.
