I went to the rerelease a couple of days ago, and man, was it fantastic. The CGI still holds up, and it made me appreciate how much work they put into it. I felt like a kid watching it for the first time all over again.
And that semi-post-credit scene that allowed us to see a clip of the second one got me hyped!
Yeah, it really holds up in 3D! Looking forward to the next one! The preview they showed looked amazing!
So true that it still looks better than most new movies out in the last decade. In 3D or not!

I knew in the theaters this wasn't a movie I'd be rewatching at home, however, it was a movie I thought everyone should see in the theaters in 3D!
IMHO it's good enough to enjoy even in 2d.
@@omrilapidot6770 I agree. The first time I watched it was on my laptop at home and I was still immersed in the story and world. I’m glad I finally got to see it in the theatre though. It was stunning!
Definitely best in the theaters, but even at home it can be nice with a good sound system and a projector :)
My niece plans on dragging me (willingly) to see the first one in 3D, before the second one comes out. _Then_ dragging me to the new one, lol.
3D hurts my head and eyes though. I hate 3D 😭 and when things are filmed for 3D effects it makes it look jenky when it's in 2D 🤷🏻♀️😅

Anybody can hate, but tearing down what you _love_ takes a special kind of creativity.
yo, this film is super problematic with its literal white saviour narrative and aliens coded like nonwhite people from the colonial era. if that kind of criticism makes you uncomfortable enough to call it "mean-spirited" maybe you need to educate yourself on where these criticisms come from, who is making them, and the long and problematic history of stories like avatar.
I'm never going to see the dragon bonding scene the same way again.

The 3D is still the best of any movie ever. Couldn't believe how well it held up when I saw it last weekend.
Really? I found it unwatchable, then saw Prometheus and was blown away by the depth and weight of the scenery

The Grandma's Boy reference got me.
Such an underrated movie.
I saw Avatar 3 times in IMAX and the guy from Grandma's Boy was my favorite character. Watch the movie again and see how many changes he goes through. At first he is jealous of Sully and then becames angry and then grows into a hero at the end. Very underrated character.

Avatar is a perfect white saviour movie.
For example, Jake is the one who tamed the beasts even when the most experienced Na'vi could not.
First, he goes on to save the entire Na'vi.
Secondly, the film doesn't just produce a white saviour, it gives us a white messiah.
In the end Jake becomes more Na’vi than the actual Na’vi on Pandora.
In conclusion, it's a journey about white self-admiration.
I can't wait to see Screen Junkies Avatar: The Way of Water Honest Trailer.

Much improved honest trailer! I just saw Avatar yesterday in the cinema again, and still loved it. I want to visit this planet so much! Also visually 13 Years later, still the best 3D Movie in existence.
You had me SNORTING out loud and laughing by the 20 second mark “slippery when wet”
I saw this in the theater and said “that was dances with wolves with blue people!” I feel vindicated now
For some reason when u call the main bad guy colonel soldier, it made me laugh uncontrollably.

This movie is all about getting lost in a much more beautiful world than ours, and it just works. I love it too.
Even though it’s not technically a good story, i still love it. It’s a classic for me, mostly cause of nostalgia, but damn if it isn’t so pretty and a nice feel good time

Cinema from its very beginning was about spectacle. About leaving people in awe. Say what you want about Avatar, it was one of the last movies to do exactly that.

I went to the re-release this weekend, and man I had a great time. Going back to Pandora and feeling the majesty of the film again, even though I know the story is very basic.
