  • This is an Addendum to a video I put out June, 9th 2019 on how to Remove and Replace a Harmonic Balancer on your 3.7 & 4.7 Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, and Mitsubishi engines. Where I used a 3/8 Drive extension and a 5/16 rod with the OEMTOOLS 25090 Harmonic Balancer Puller, as the OEM tool's rods were not long enough. This trick worked well for me, but I had a viewer that got the extension stuck in the crankshaft and here is why that happened and I just wanted to make sure that this does not happen to anyone else.

    Thanks again Martin, I wish I could share with you and your viewer's how I installed the 08 roller timing chain set up in my 02 Dakota. I also did this in my 08 engine that I will be installing this year! Still waiting on those MARTIN BUILT MUGS!

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  Před 4 lety

      I was thinking about doing the same. What is the advantage of the roller timing chain set. I would assume you had to make a a modification to the right cam gear. I'm sorry about the delay on the mugs.

    • @chrisbeitzel4788
      @chrisbeitzel4788 Před 4 lety

      @@martinbuilt In 2007 Chrysler made some changes to the timing chain by converting it to a roller style. Look up on CZcams, Cloyes has a video 2007-2013 Chrysler 4.7 timing replacement. Yes I did change over the toner wheel from the 02 onto the 08 sprocket. Also two of the chain guides are different from the earlier model 4.7, other then that it worked out great. I installed a set of H.O. camshafts and what a difference it made. Can't wait to install my 08 engine!!

    • @martinbuilt

      @@chrisbeitzel4788 thanks Chris, yeah I had thought about doing that myself. But I kept hearing things about a roller chain stretches more than the conventional timing chain. What's your thoughts on that? Is there a performance increase when using the roller? I would imagine there is some less rolling resistance.

    Martin I have a totally unrelated question!! I have a 2002 limited in great condition and I've had plans on modifying it biy I just bought a 2004 overland today!!! My question is on ths headers!!! What if any gains do you feel you got from them? Are they worth doing for a gramd?

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  Před 4 lety +1

      When I installed the Doug Thorley Headers with the cat back exhaust I felt a small gain but, this was prior to the HO camshafts, 08 intake and larger throttle body with the ram air system. I do feel the headers were a benefit with the combination of all the other mods that I made later. You may want to just build a performance y-pipe.

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  Před 3 lety

      the 3.7 is weird that way, I don't know why they had to plug all the holes. You could use a Vise Grip or a chain clamp amzn.to/3lTD3OD on the camshaft (not on the lobe) to loosen the bolt.
