You definitely raised the look of plywood! 100 times better. S
One of the highlights of my week is watching this lovely person share her passion and skill.
I use a product called Retique It. It’s like a paint made with 70% wood particles so you just paint it on, add wood grain and then you can stain with normal wood stain. Looks awsome.
This project was originally meant to showcase them but I had issues getting the liquid wood to adhere ☹️
I think I will try the Re-tique process on a brand new, small, painted particle board "Furrino" brand bookcase. It looks like Re-tique is an expensive product, requires several steps, & is fairly involved - from the video I watched on how to use Re-tique. However, if ones takes one time, & does all steps correctly, it looks like it turns out very well.
I can remember my mom refinishing and “antiquing” some of our furniture back in the 70s. Yup, this method has been around a long time. Great job giving that old tired look an update.
I love when you revisit a finish you have created before....Thank you!
All ways a pleasure to see your magic happen. Thank you
Always surprising. The finished product is stunning!
Oh, Katie, Katie, KATIE!!! You are SO good! I do faux wood finishes so I really appreciate your skill.
What an improvement! That thing was uuuugly when you started! Great job.
Thank you for sharing this technique Katie! It turned out so beautiful. Take care
Looks amazing Katie! You’ve taught me so much over the past couple years, thank you for sharing your talent and skills with us. 💖
So much better than the original finish. Great look.
The color is great. So neutral. So classic.
Beautiful Katie! You have such a great eye and sense for detail. You are a true talented artist.
Its perfect. The wood graining tool is amazing. Very nice transformation.
Perfect timing! I wanted a wood bookcase for my guest room but now I might try this on an old Ikea bookshelf. Of course, you make it look easy. ❤ your videos!
Katie, I have got a cedar chest my brother built in shop class in 1958. I would love to do this to that chest, but I have never done anything with a tool like that. I can only imagine the mess I would make of it! Lol. This is, like everything you do, gorgeous. Thanks for sharing
What a difference!
The great thing about paint .. you can remove it & start over .. practice makes perfect
*Enjoy the Process* ...
Big difference. Great.
You make this all look so easy! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Love from Oklahoma
Great video & thorough instruction. Final look doesn't appeal, but that's just personal preference & not a big deal. Thanks for the video.
Enjoyed your video thanks for the tips!
Thanks for watching!
You’re a freaking wizard.
Wow!!! That looks amazing. I’m sure it takes some practice to use that gadget wood grain tool. In fact I know it takes some practice as I could never get it right. I start off good but when I go to the next line that’s where I mess up. Katie, yours looks really awesome n I love the handles you used.
I’ve been seeing a lot people using that Fusion paint. I think I need to break down n pay some. You did a beautiful job.
♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟🌟
You really did a wonderful job on that chest. Learned a lot. Thank you. Cathleen
Amei.. amei... Amei ❤
PRECIOSO.👍👏👏👏👏👏👏😘😘
I have an old cabinet my dad made some 60 years ago. I was thinking I would sand and stain, but I may try this. I hope to put legs on and use it as a small linen closet❤
You seriously make this look easy 🤓
Lindo amei ❤🇧🇷
Katie - the piece looks very good. I'm not surprised, of course. But the camera work at the end was giving me whiplash & that does surprise me. New camera person?
Madame you are on to something here!!!!
I recently acquired a homemade cedar chest that has carvings all over it (recessed, not convex). What’s the best way to sand/strip it & repaint/stain? Any advice is appreciated! Love your work. 😘
This turned out great! I like this technique with battered pieces because it’s so forgiving when your piece has minor damage. In retrospect, could you have left the original wood grain and worked with it and the dents to create the wood grain look, or was there too much damage you needed to sand through?
Amazing!!! 😍
Did you have to apply anything over the exposed plywood edges to get smooth? Or are they just painted?
What a great idea. If I wanted a darker finish, would I use a darker base? Or darker stain? Both? Thank you!
Hi, i really like the way this came out. I want to do this with my kitchen cabinets bc the plastic coating is coming off (and i always hated it, anyway.
So i have a question... Wha would happen if you did a second coat of stain? Would that make it look even more like wood, or would it make it look wonky?
I’m so glad I found your video!!! I’ve been wanting to do something like this to my dining table and was trying to figure out how to make it work. Do you think it’d be a hard enough finish on a table? My kids are brutal 😂 maybe lots of layers the top coat?
It’s definitely a hard enough finish for a table as long as you take care of it. Just like any other furniture surface, you have to be cautious about heat and water.

@@Meneerification Oh, wow!
Hi Katie,
You mentioned SW, Behr and and BM products that would be similar to the color of your work bench. Which one would be the best match to you work bench?
Thank you so much.
I love this video! I am curious, if I wanted a darker stain look, would I just use a darker paint, or would I use the same paint color just a darker stain?
Hi Katie,
I have a question I'm hoping you can answer.
We put in our engineered hardwood floors ourselves and glued our floors down as we have a concrete slab on grade base. We accidentally got some of that glue on our floors and it is now dry.
In your best opinion, what product would work best to remove the glue without damaging the wood finish?
Thank you in advance for your time.
JT
❤❤
Katie where do you get your inspirations ? Is there an interior design magazine that you would recommend?
I have a question. When you pulled the wood grain look through with that tool I saw some large oval target like "knots". In the finished product I don't really see those. I love your finished product and would like to do my front door similar but I don't want those large "knots" showing through. Is it just a matter of smoothing them out or what? Are there choices of the wood grain tools depending on what look you want? Thanks!
Hi! I used this technique on a dining table top. I used the same water based stain as you and tried the same water based polyurethane finish but as I was applying, it was lifting the stain. It had been dry 24 hours prior so I’m not sure what’s going wrong. Have any suggestions?
Hmmm. I’m not too sure. I guess if the stain didn’t bond to the paint you could try a spray can of poly to avoid it lifting.
If you spray furniture polish on you drawer slides and rails they close much easier
Bees wax works great too 😉
Great job as usual. However; I preferred the finish prior to the dark stain application. Still quality work, though
New to this channel - I love it! I have a question for anyone out there who may know this - is there a really good/recommended Facebook group for furniture flippers? Looking for somewhere where a newbie to furniture flipping could post/search questions and get good responses from people more experienced than I am. Thanks!

Hi Katie, can I ask why you clean prior to sanding. Why don't you clean after sanding so you don't have to do it twice?
I clean before I start sanding because used furniture is GROSS 😂 and I don’t want to grind and dirt or oils on the surface into the porous wood…cuz then you can’t get it out!
Did you toss around the idea of cutting the curves off the apron to modernize it, or did you always know you were going to keep the original base?
NO! I love the bottom curves on this. It’s a feminine piece and they suit it well.
Why use the wood grain tool if you can't see it on the final project after staining?
because you CAN see it and feel it in the finished product
Can you come to Myrtle Beach and do my coffee table?
I don’t understand why you use the grain tool then brush over it…?
