  • Verteporfin is a drug that is being studied for its ability to block the fibroblasts pathways that inhibit the formation of scars. By blocking the formation of scars, the hair follicles and sebaceous glands are able to regenerate. If you apply this to surgical hair restoration, then you've essentially cured hair loss. Now, we're not gonna say this is a hair loss cure yet. There needs to be a lot more studies and a lot more trials to see if there is any use in hair restoration.
The preliminary work done by Stanford researcher Dr. Longaker is promising. He showed regeneration in hair follicles and sebaceous glands in pigs, who see skin that resembles human skin. I have connected Dr. Pittella with Dr. Barghouthi so they can begin working together on a simultaneous trial.
The more surgeons try Verteporfin, the more we'll know about it. Some surgeons are apprehensive because they think the science is weak. That is understandable, but how do you know something won't work unless you try it.

Melvin can you please talk to Dr. Zarev out of Bulgaria? He is legit the best hair surgeon in the world. Specializing in Norwood 6 and 7. His results are just astounding. If he would try Verteporforin on a Norwood 7 we could get a definitive answer on this whole situation

Zarev also maps the entire donor area meticulously. He will be able to provide measurements and data that could prove or disprove verteporfin.

@@sama7615 The verteporfin is currently being tested to regrow hair taken from the donor area, God willing, and if it works, it will be revolutionary.

I would volunteer to be a subject in the trial of verteporfin. Dr Pitella seems to be an excellent surgeon for patients who are a Norwood 6-7 and who would be ordinarily rejected by mainstream transplant doctors. Dr. Zarev is another known practitioner for N6-7 mega transplants. His results are world class.

It’s still extremely early. An HT doesn’t ruin your donor as long as you choose the right surgeon. The only tested and proven way of restoring hair is surgery

@@HairTransplantNetwork I Don't have much hair left for my NW 7 scalp. Since Verteprofin is already approved as a drug for other uses, + hair cloning would provide competition, I think it's feasible to have it in a few years.
