I went to an OXO manual opener after I saw my wife's 85-ish year old grandmother using it with ease. I'll never go back.

I picked up a dirty Sears Kenmore can opener at Goodwill. It's model 135.83460 and it appears to be made in the 50s/60s. Unbelievably it opened a can like a new one! It's all metal except for the nylon gears ⚙.
It is like a light teal? With a long thin chrome lever. Looks like art deco. Absolutely gorgeous 😍

Greetings! I've missed your videos :)
Are you planning on doing some Linux or Networking stuff on you channel in the future again? Is your pfSense router still at 100% uptime? xD

Cheaply made as humanly possible... You obviously haven't seen the Walmart brand "Mainstays" electric can opener. It makes that GE look like a Swiss watch :)

That would be from Communist China and everything from China makes everything else look like s Swiss watch

Well your talking about newer ones that are all trash today.
Back when this was built decades ago there were several can openers with quality still. Metal gears were still used in many openers then. This should be in a museum listed as a very early American p.o s. IMO...

@@hugoglenn9741 10 years later I check into my email and see this comment. Well, I just decided to press it and see what happens. The cutting wheel detached. It's to take off the cutting wheel and wash/clean it.

Which came first, the can or the can opener? Imagine producing the first canned food and not being able to open it.

Plastic gears vs metal most gears other brands had then.
GE has made trash for many decades, regardless if the product is big or small they'll find someway to cheapen every part in it.
