Admittedly if the Babadook isn't real, not sure what's going to happen with all of that food she's giving it. Is that scene not real in this interpretation?

I'll try to respond w 2 hopefully helpful questions. Why was the Bdook in the basement? Would throwing the food away change their decision to acknowledge B was there?
