thank u for making this video spoiler free, didn't heard of this movie and it looks amazingly hunting, can't wait to give it a try.

It’s definitely not the best. Not great, but good. Storytelling could have been a lot better but the amazing tension that were created in some good scenes were ended by prolonged unnecessary dialogue/imagery. I felt like the plot could have been a lot better and not be so cliche. I gave it 3/5.

Terrifier3 will have the length of T1 and the creativity of T2 so it’ll prolly be the best

It was a stupid ass movie

It was horrible.

Its a sort of cinematic inverse of Silence of the Lambs. We get the lead's trauma front and center instead of as a late-movie reveal. We start the super-genius killer free and he becomes imprisoned and even dies during the film, the opposite of Lector. It begins, rather than ends, with the heroine single-handedly taking down a killer in their own house. The main villain is focused on societal rather than personal transformation. Etc. Etc.

Does it live up the hype? No. Is it still a great movie in my opinion? Yep. For me I was satisfied with how the last third panned out, but i can agree that the first 2/3 of the movie was more satisfying. What a year for horror 2024 is turning out to be!

I really wished I’d liked X but I was so let down. I do understand why others thought it was a great movie, but it just personally wasn’t for me, especially the ending, I just lost interest three quarters of the way through tbh, it didn’t have much substance imo (but then again not everyone watches horror for substance, sometimes it’s just fun)

It made sense for her dad to explain cuz he’s so preachy which duh he’s a pastor? They still had the dialogue before she killed her father which was poetic but idk seems like a specific group of ppl keep thinking it’s not a great movie 🤒

Honestly I think there was only room to fail after releasing Pearl and X to such high praise. I’m probably in the minority of viewers that don’t really enjoy Mia Goth. I don’t know if it’s her voice or style or whatever it is. (She’s clearly talented, just not my cup of tea.) I was hoping Maxxxine would actually reduce her spotlight a little bit, but it seems like they over compensated and went in the complete opposite direction just to fall flat. After just getting out of LONGLEGS, I don’t think Maxxxine will be *as* memorable in the roster of 2024 movies, let alone the short list of 2024 horror movies. Anyways, that’s my movie word vomit. Nice video!

Out of the trilogy, pearl is the best one

Not sure if this review is satire because (1) I've heard good things about this movie from other reviewers (Stuckmann, CZ's World) and (2) you're anticipating good things from a Nick Cage movie.

Contemplating the idea of shooting a movie about a phone scammer who lulls his victims out of money with his monotonous voice. Pacifier.

Its an alright movie. 2, is sooo much better. Tighter script leads to better pacing and in some ways feels shorter than this. Better dialogue and overall story. The kills get more insane, but not necessarily more creative. There's one in particular that leads you to wonder, how is this person still alive??? Looking forward to your thoughts on 2, and hoping you see it as a huge improvement over the original.

Watched this on Apple TV one night when I was bored out of my mind. Was expecting something quite cheesy and indie feeling but found this film to be extremely well shot. Storyline is also intriguing enough to hold my attention, definitely a decent watch!

I just watched this film over again and yeah this film is pretty subpar. But, I definitely do recommend the sequels, some of them are really solid and fun. And many of them are made by competent directors, especially the early sequels. I understand the hesitation, but there might be one you like.

I absolutely love this book. And reddit has nothing to with it. I found it on my own with no real knowledge of what was about to happen to me in those pages. Absolutely wonderful novel, and I recommend it every single chance I get.

The interesting thing about demons and devils is that they've become so commonplace that despite their menace, it can be hard to make them scary because they're a bit too familiar. That's why so many stories these days have other things be the greater threat, even when demons are present, or even have otherworldly things be mistaken for demons in Medieval times. It's always interesting when someone can breathe new life into classic monsters and make them scary again. I feel like there's quite a bit of potential with demons in particular because in the actual Bible, they more resemble Eldrich, Lovecraftian threats than the imps and pitchfork devils we're used to.

I have got a copy and do plan to read it but I was definitely not willing to buy new... I waited for a reasonably priced second hand copy to come available haha :) Eventually I will read it when I'm in the right headspace to tackle this journey haha

Glad I'm not alone. Funny story about House of Leaves if you have the time to read it: I was in a modern literature class in university, and HoL was the book of discussion for like two weeks, meaning I had to pay for a copy as a textbook... But I didn't do that. A friend of mine had told me about it and showed me excerpts before, so I knew I'd loathe the waste of paper. It reeked of pretentiousness. So I mooched off a classmate's copy, reading just enough and picking out enough key phrases to squeak by in our discussions. However, it then came time to write a paper on HoL. The professor told us to connect some referenced imagery or allusion within the book to classical mythology, and how that allusion elevates the text. The example she gave, that she was happy for people to use, was that of the Minotaur in the Labyrinth. Sure, whatever, some pages were set up like a labyrinth. Easy enough. But for some reason, I got it in my head that if I were to follow that prompt, it would be obvious I didn't read the fucking thing. So I went and made it harder on myself. I flipped through my classmate's copy, looking for some other reference to myths or legends, and then I turned to one of the last pages, and there it was: Yggdrasil. In high school I was a big Mighty Thor fan and became obsessed with Norse Myth, so I had a lot of experience with Yggdrasil. I asked the professor if that could be my reference point, and she gave me the go-ahead, seemingly doubting that I could find enough to work with. Constructing the essay was pretty easy though. Just had to find the page that mentions Yggdrasil, and a few studies on old Icelandic that teased out the meaning of the word. One convenient point was that the titular House was situated on "Ash Tree Lane," and what is Yggdrasil traditionally described as? An ash tree, of course. So I wrote nearly twenty pages of bloated, speculative nonsense about how Odin hanged himself from the World Tree to gain knowledge and how that connects to the Navidson record or whatever. All total bullshit. I probably only read about a page worth of material from HoL. And I got a 98% on that paper. The next year I found out she showed it to that semester's class as an excellent example of what she wanted from the assignment. And I never even bought the fucking thing.
