- A look at Zone focusing what it is when to use it and how to set it up on your Fuji X Camera. I show what Zone focusing is using a old Minolta 35mm film SLR camera and then show what you need to set on your Fuji X camera to use Zone Focusing.
(Sorry for some sound issues my lav mic moved during filming and I didn't notice until I started to edit the footage.)

Old skool photography techniques, perfectly explained
Glad you enjoyed it
Watched tons of videos on this, read articles and fiddling around but now it actually makes sense. Thanks!
This answered all my zone focus questions. I couldn't figure out why the focus range was so short on the focus indicator, but your instruction helped me see that I just needed to change one setting. Amongst all the flash and noise of photography related 'content creation' there's always a quiet, clear, and competent instructor who actually explains things in depth and in the right way. Thanks so much, subscribed.
Nice video, i Just bought the x100vi and want't to try this.
Attributed to other commenters. Clear and concise. Thanks
Thank you for making this subject clear. I've struggled in the past understanding zone focusing and you clearly explained the technique!
Thank you, I had not known until now what those numbers represented on my manual Minolta lenses until now. That will be a big help in my street photography ventures
This video was so good. Everything nice and clearly pointed out. Helped me setup my camera properly. Thank you.
Such a wonderfully explained concept ! Keep up the great work, kudos !
Excellent demo! Thank You!
Once again, exactly what I need for my new-to-me X100T. Thanks for the effort and sharing. Stay well. Thumbs up. 👍🏻
Thank you! Clearly explained and demonstrated. Very useful tutorial!
This is great. I've often heard people talk about back button focusing, but I could never work out - A: How to set it up on my Fuji x-e3, and B: What the benefit of it is. Your video answers both of my questions perfectly. I can't wait to get out and try it on the streets now. Thanks a lot!
Happy to help!
Thanks for another very informative vid David, keep them coming my friend, cheers Dave in Turkey 🇹🇷😎🤙🏻

Thumbs up for the tutorial
Thank you for this great video. If possible could you give a clarification on Pixel basis versus film format basis and WHY one should choose one over the other. Thank you in advance for this.
Hi here is my video on the subject czcams.com/video/03bZUqwAL4Q/video.html
14mm F2.8 has focus scale too.
Thanks for the helpful information. what is the reason to have Focus Check switch OFF for this zone focusing application ?
Hi it’s too stop the live view zooming in every time you move the focus ring on the lens that’s all.
like and sub deserved
There are two options called pixel format and film format. I think you have selected the first option. If you select film format you may get a lot more in the zone. Pixel format is more precise though.
Check out my video on the difference between film basis and pixel basis: czcams.com/video/03bZUqwAL4Q/video.html
@@GrandadsReviews Appreciate that you reply on a comment for a video thats old. That shows your dedication. Do u remember which format(pixel, film) was selected on this .
@@anazkhan1949 hi I believe replying to all the questions no matter how old the video is important otherwise way make the video so thank you for asking a question, I would have been on film format as that is what I Norma leave it on.
Sounded like Sir David Attenborough
What is that bracket on your xt3
Hi it’s the Smallrig L bracket with a Smallrig universal side handle attached to it.
Can't bring up focus scale. On xt2
It’s in custom display settings you can add the manual focus and autofocus scale.
@@GrandadsReviews I follow the steps in video. But would not pop up. I have it on xt1. But my xt2 giving me the devil.
@@tarikrobertson if all fails do a camera reset and try again.
I'm sure you solved this long ago but for anyone else not able to bring up the scale, check your "Large Indicators" for both the EVF and LCD screen. If they're set to Large, the scale gets hidden. This large indicators options became available with one of the firmware updates I believe.
